I was just curious, after the "Fears"-poll, how you see your own fears. If you think you can manage to defeat them, should sometime an event arise, where you would need to fight them or to lose the fight. Or if you perhaps can just control them, without the need to face the dread for real sometime ever.
Actually I mean your primary fears, the ones that can make your life to hell sometimes.
I for my part know at least, that I can control them. And eventually fight against them, in which way ever. Just didn't have the opportunity yet...

I can beat my fears but I'm not going out with a s-lut. (dammit Free stop playing around with the word filter :ranting: )

FreeFreddy 06-12-2004 03:23 PM

Neither would I, with another one, if I love one already...

That should be s-lut. but the word filter changes it to woman.

Haha! Beaten by your own rules, eh Pizzard?

Ioncannon 06-12-2004 07:26 PM

I beat my fears by avoiding them, or if I am forced, ignoring them.

I didn't engage the word filter and I sure as hell didn't make slu-t a no go word.

Danny252 06-12-2004 08:30 PM

well go UNDO it.
or is Freddy the only admin here who can get PhPbb to censor things? :bleh:
I can do it too though.
Or are you afraid of PhPbb?!?!?!?!?!? LOL

FreeFreddy 06-12-2004 10:15 PM

So you may post a lot of it after it's free? No way, it stays. It's a dirty enough word anyway.
And with that, back to topic. ;)

wendymaree 06-12-2004 10:36 PM

Well, I can control most of my fears....but not shyness....not yet. But I will. I do spiritual warefare on those fears. I tell all fears to leave as they are only illusions and can't harm me and I don't believe in them. I always feel stronger then.

I've been there and done that. :wall: Though it depends on what is going on that might set my fears off.

Sebatianos 07-12-2004 07:25 AM

It depends on the fear we're talking about. I have stagefrigth - but can't afford it - so I have to control it everytime I stand in front of a large croud (as a teacher that happens often - if you count the class as a crowd of people watching you then it even happens daily - many times a day).
But I guess all of us must be able to deal with our fears - but prefer to avoid them. If you have the fear of hights (as an example) you will avoid high places... But that doesn't mean you'll die of fear if suddenly you are stuck on top of a tree (don't ask me how you got there). You'll be forced to overcome your fear. Not pleasent but necesary and it halps if someone is there to lend you a helping hand.

So I'm not "playing around" with it.

I used to have stagefright... but then I had to preform solo in front of a huge audience in Belgium's main opera house, De Munt.
I was overwhelmed with fear. But after that I've never had stagefright again, so I guess I conquered that fear

The Niles 07-12-2004 11:29 AM

Cool Stroggy, what did you have to do?

Stroggy 07-12-2004 11:35 AM

I was a Tenore lirico but had to stop when I became 14 as to preserve my voice.
I think after next birthday I'll be allowed to sing again since I haven't lost my voice.

Yes, you're right about it.
But it's a different thing if you will go on and start to fight the fear when there's real need to do that, or simply continue to avoid it and the situation where it will be asked to fight it and to be victorious, because you don't have enough courage for it. Even when there's someone that offers to help you. Even if it would destroy something important to you because you avoid it...

Sebatianos 07-12-2004 12:43 PM

Well it depends...
If you are afraid of crocodiles the best policy would be to aviod them - not to try and stick your head in its mouth just so you could say "I did it - I'm not afraid any more..."
And your head would be singing inside the stomach of the crocodile "I ain't got no body..."

But if it's a everyday fear you must concure (like a fear of closed spaces, fear of dark,...) you must find a way to overcome it - otherwise it's your loss.

Exactly what I mean. If you don't overcome it now, it'll stick to you the rest of the life. It won't go simply away...

Yeah thats the same for me. I'm pretty shy. When I'm with a group of people I don't know, I just sorta shut off and drift towards the corner of the room or behind everyone. It's just a bit awkward.

But I am getting better with it then I used to be. I can sometimes talk to people I don't know, and thats cool.

Fawfulhasfury 07-12-2004 11:21 PM
