Seems you have more time then I do.
Nice stuff you have, and a neat storage.

Dave 03-12-2007 11:08 AM

WOW
My congrats, your collection is superb :).
Welcome to Abandonia Tseki!

Rogue 03-12-2007 11:54 AM

Nice collection! :)

Tervez 03-12-2007 02:36 PM

And to think the only old game I really own is Ultima VII: Serpent Isle...

Don't blame me, I was too young to purchase stuff like that when they were avaivable!

Welcome to Abandonia, enjoy your stay.

red_avatar 03-12-2007 06:47 PM

Wow I wish i had the room to store my games in their boxes - I only do that with the 3.5" versions. I got way too many CD games though - I got a big wall rack that holdes 800+ CDs and use a large book case to store my DVD box games. I started neatly packing manuals together though so I can easily find them for each game.

If I ever rent a house I'll definately dedicate a room to something like this - make my work of it to pose all my most rarest games, create shelves that display them nicely.

Tseki 03-12-2007 07:31 PM

Blaa blaa :)

Scatty 05-12-2007 12:34 AM

Nothing like my collection of only 150+ games. Yours definitely beats it, especially since all of your games are in packages while many of my have been bought just in CD jewel cases (albeit still with manuals in them :D).
Admirable dedication, mate ;)

Kvntvmt 05-12-2007 07:00 AM

Wow. That's.. Well organised.

WOW REALLY GREAT COLLECTION:eek:

red_avatar 11-12-2007 08:19 AM

When I move to a bigger place, I want a room dedicated just to displaying games like that - but it will take up considerably more space ;) Just storing the CDs & DVD takes up more space than what is being used in that picture, and that's without using the boxes or freebies I gathered over the years :P

I've begun collecting the rarer games a few years ago - an expensive hobby but maybe, in 50 years, it will be worth a small fortune :) A lot of games today are already incredibly hard to find so with a bit of luck, PC games will be considered high collectible in the future.

I'd much rather keep them myself. Unless they are really ridiculously expensive, say 100-200€ per game. And even then I'd first give out the worst games.

I sold Touché Fifth Musketeer for 100 euros (the dollar = euro back then) back in 2001 to an American - thought it was silly to keep it since I had gotten it for 5 euros from ebay :P. I doubt I'll never come accross it again and if I do, it will probably be for less ;)

Yes indeed, I just bought pile of old games from finnish abandonia member who has childhood home at same town..

Weird stuff goes on.

With so many independent developers and plenty of competition in distribution outlets, PC games had lots of floor space back then. Easily two-thirds of a store three times the size of the current GameStop monopolies was given over to those games, with the rest devoted to applications. It seemed to me much more common back then to find adults searching for games than now, where young teens snicker (through their noses) if anybody over the age of 17 enters a game store. Whom do they think makes the games they play? ;)

In fact, the game portion of the store was divided up by genre: RPGs on one wall, adventure titles over there, strategy titles over there, etc. And most games came with a lot of content back then, too: huge manuals, maps and foldouts, little trinkets, sometimes fake diaries, etc. Some of this of course still occurs, but usually only among indie publishers. I'm working my way now through the PDF manual for Forge of Freedom. Okay, it's not printed out in the download I paid for, but still, it's intense. :D

Jerry123 02-01-2008 02:59 PM

Great collection! Great style! I dont have that much space, but I also have a few really old games, Ultima series and similar vintages. Ultima IV, for example. I didnt buy it personally at the time... it was a Christmas present, I was too small to spend that much money myself :-)

Geezer 02-01-2008 03:59 PM

When I moved into my new house I set up a display room for my collection. Now the room isn't big enough. Do you think I have a problem?

:D

MinigunFiend 03-01-2008 12:45 AM

Makes me a little embarrassed at what I thought was a good collection of my own :P

I also notice that you want a CIB UK copy of Necrodome, which I have.
Not sure if I'll part with it or not.

Burger Meister 03-01-2008 05:38 PM

I remember my parents throwing out my boxes and manuals of Wolfenstein 3D, Blakestone, Doom 1&2, Age of Empires 2... all my games. I remember telling them that someday they will be worth something...

For anyone who is a collector or for anyone interested in trading games you should check out this site.

Game Trading Zone

I have been a member for a few months now. Doesn't cost anything and has quite a few members. Definitely an international flavor. Has nice tools to put your collection on line as well. Lets you set up three categories 1. Collection 2. Available 3. Wanted

Only if you meant to sell them, and no longer had an interest in keeping them. I've thrown out the boxes of most of my games over the years though I've always kept the manuals (and odds and ends) that came with them. In a very few cases, I kept the boxes, as with Magic Candle I, Ultima IV, and Might and Magic III. These won't be sold--so I'll never make any money off them. And that's fine with me.

MinigunFiend 07-01-2008 05:29 PM

The only games I still own in full size boxes are:
  • Sinistar: Unleased
  • Grand Prix 3
  • Half-Life (generations and blue shift)
  • Little Big Adventure 2
  • The Last Dynasty
  • Forced Alliance
  • Detritus
  • Quake 2
  • Necrodome
  • GTA
  • Syndicate
  • Human Onslaught
  • Simon the Sorcerer (1 + 2)

..OK now that I list them there are more than I remember, but still not many.

Office_Monk 01-02-2008 07:56 PM

That's a whole lot more than what I have; my oldest is either The Chaos Engine or The Humans, my youngest is Jade Empire. In between there's like 25 games (two of them are gems in my eyes: Expect No Mercy and The Lords Of Tantrazz, the latter is real hard but not widely known I guess) :)

Blood-Pigggy 02-02-2008 12:51 AM

Haha, my oldest is Ultima you fruitcakes, I win by a long shot.

glennscrima 06-02-2008 08:49 PM

the original Zork? im not sure when that came out but if it came out before 1977 you beat my Telestar Pong :)

Blood-Pigggy 03-06-2008 04:46 PM

An Apple II is a computer so yes, however mine is an Apple II copy as well which is older than UI+UII.
The C64 versions and others were released later, I had a cracked copy of the C64 version, much like any other C64 game I had.

Dear Tseki,

You stated:
Heretic (mail order) 3.5" USA !!!

Heretic is a dark fantasy first-person shooter video game created by Raven Software, published by id Software, and distributed by GT Interactive in 1994.

As i know there are

Heretic 1 (3 episodes) 1994
City of the Damned,
Hell's Maw
the Dome of D'Sparil

(Here the battle with D'Sparil is long and bloody.
Maybe 1-3 hours depends on diff)
Trick: Use Fly option to reach and use as base the north situated building.

Heretic 1.3 (5 episodes).
Actually 3 episodes from Heretic 1 plus 2 new:
The Ossuary
The Stagnant Demesne
(The last battle is very funny: yoga is running like a devil around and around in closed area followed from 10-20 starving to kill me bosses ha ha ha).
December 23, 1994 March 31, 1996

Heretic 2 1998
Poor game:sucks:

Heretic 1.3 is one of my favorites.
Maybe played one million times.
:hello:
Sweet memories

Caro Capo,
i politely recommend You Heretic 1.3 (episode 3).
:p

Sam & Max: Hit the Road (with The Adventurer #7) 3.5" USA
The Secret of Monkey Island (EGA 16-color) 5.25" USA
Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge 5.25" USA

You don't accept pms.

Either way they are pretty easy to get access to.

I'd have bigger wishes:
- properly working Fallout 2 (preferably 1.0) for win 7
- working Rage of Mages 2 for win 7
- (working) Blair Witch Project Volume 1: Rustin Parr

Very nice collection indeed. And so nice stored. :)

That was last year, when I started cataloging my games.
I made a huge Excel List and a detailed Picture of every game and I never thought that this will be a task for weeks and months...

Smiling Spectre 05-08-2015 08:02 AM

Ooh, how familiar!

(And because of that I have XLS list only. :(

BostonGeorge 05-08-2015 09:44 AM

Yeah but I like my Excel List. For me it is very convenient with all the sort filters, new categories I can establish and I can link the pictures.

But I started it all with a list on mobygames :)

Smiling Spectre 05-08-2015 02:09 PM

Well, same here. Only... time spent, remember? :)

Very nice indeed. :) I have the same "problem" though.

My highest prices were for:

Portal (from Activision) 1986 - near mint
Shadow of the Comet - near mint
Darkspyre - good status
Ultima III (very first Apple II issue) - near mint
Ultima IV (very first Apple II issue) - near mint
Ultima IX Dragon Edition (signed by Richard Garriot with video proof :) ) - near mint

AndI cannot stop.
