Whats in a Name?

Most people registered on this site use some type of nickname or something other than there real name. People could use this thread to expain there site name and why they chose it.

Doink. The name comes form a profesional wrestler "Doink the Clown" (see my avata) not really a wrestling fan but people started calling me that in school cause I had a habit of messing around and "trying" to be funny all the time.

Mighty Midget 28-01-2008 06:39 AM

Mighty Midget, pretty much a random choise. I just like alliterations, the meaninglessness of the name and the contrast. Beside, it gave me a load of opportunities for horrendous puns ;)

Japo 28-01-2008 09:35 AM

Ja is the first syllabe of my real name, Po of my first (father's) surname, Fran of my second (mother's) surname. :oh: :p

Mr Miau 28-01-2008 09:56 AM

Just one day back in school when we were on a trip to France some of my classmates said that I would move gently and sneaky like a cat, thus calling me Mr Miau (German for meow).

Luchsen 28-01-2008 02:55 PM

Luchsen is an obsolete German adjective meaning: like a lynx (and it's an obsolete verb meaning: to act like a lynx, and it's the German dative plural of lynx). The lynx is my favourite animal, I'm like a lynx/I act like a lynx, I love grammar and playing with words, and I think I like suffixes/word endings with vowel + n. Luchsen is also well to abbreviate for arcades: LXN.

Borodin 28-01-2008 03:03 PM

Borodin's a 19th century Russian composer/scientist/freethinker I admire, especially for his compositions, but also for his pioneering efforts at women's education.

JJXB 28-01-2008 05:16 PM

JJXB is a random thing i came up with years*ago*and*it's*stayed .wysiwyg { background-attachment: scroll; background-repeat: repeat; background-position: 0% 0%; background-color: #f5f5ff; background-image: none; color: #000000; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Arial; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; font-size: 10pt; line-height: normal } p { margin: 0px; }

What's wrong with your text? Someone is trying to shut you up? :weird:

Anyway my nick comes from one of the NPC characters in a German RPG Gothic (should be internationally well-known anyway), the choice was more random than anything though, it just had to be from Gothic and was the first to come into my mind (Fletcher or Franco would have been better choices, but came too late).

Blood-Pigggy 28-01-2008 11:24 PM

Well I think it's a bad choice since I've beaten Gothic well over three times and I only vaguely remember the name as the arena guy. Why not Gomez?

I actually thought you named yourself after poop, seriously, like scat.

Scatty 28-01-2008 11:32 PM

Meh, Gomez is a loser, his position is foolish and he's killed in the first game anyway (sinking into oblivion). About poop, yes few people talked about that in the beginning, like in Fun game, or scatty in the meaning of crazy, which came from a certain girl once.

Blood-Pigggy 28-01-2008 11:33 PM

Who cares about the character, it's a name, and Scatty makes me laugh :)

_r.u.s.s. 29-01-2008 06:18 AM

as in Russian. don't ask me about the special characters, i don't know neither

Tervez 29-01-2008 07:59 AM

When, in the beginning, I stumbled on to Internet, I tried to register to a forum. Many names didst I try, but alas, all were already reserved. Thinking that this "Nick" thing isn't going to be my name on the forums, I just chose a word, "Terve". (Meaning "Hello" in finnish.) This too was taken, so I just added a "z" to the end. Later I found out that it indeed became my name in the forums, but I was too lazy to register again.
And eventually Tervez saw, that the name was good anyway, and didn't need to be changed.

And no, that doesn't mean you can start calling me Helloz. That would be just silly.

TheChosen 01-02-2008 06:56 AM

I got my nickname after playing too much Fallout 2.

Icewolf 01-02-2008 07:36 AM

It a mix of my first name my infamous calmness in RL.
And it was a bit of a polar wolf in it but i assume they don't exist. :amused:

Scatty 01-02-2008 09:05 AM

There are polar foxes, if that helps :p

Tito 01-02-2008 11:42 AM

Alberto - Albertito - Tito

Quite simple. It is also how many people in Spain address me.

El Quia 14-02-2008 02:45 PM

El Quia means something like "The Guy" in "lunfardo", the Argentinian slang. Not in a sense of someone of importance, like the expression "The Man", but more in the sense of any guy.

I chose it a long, long time ago, in the BBS era, and it stuck as a virtual nickname. Although I have another "nickname" since a few years back, I continue using it for most internet-related things.

The_Lemming 04-03-2009 07:58 PM

The reason I am The_Lemming:

I LOVE LEMMINGS! Lemmings, Oh No! More Lemmings, LemEdit, Xmas Lemmings, Lemmings 2, The Lemmings Chronicles, Lemmings 3D, and Lemmings Revolution! The Lemmings games are my favorite DOS games of all!

But I bet you could tell all that already.
