Hi! I'm from Poland i'm very happy that thsi site exist!!! I visit it all the time.
I've got a propose /request for the game call.. SIM COPTER if its only abandoned!

Of course i've gotr many proposition for games witch should be abandon and could find the place on this site :)
for example:

Shattered Steel
SandWarriors

Think about it ! :)

But first of all is a SIM COPTER :)))

The game is no longer available at prism direct, amazon or whsmith.
It shows a link to GamesPlanet but there it's out of stock

so??? is abandoned or not ??? ( sorry i don't understand (Polish education of english - sucks!)

This game was good because you could fly around the cities you made on Simcity 2000.

well I got streets of simcity, which let you drive in you cities.... IT SUCKED

I know, my friend has it, you are right. it does suck ;) . But Simcopter is better because there are people and cars on the road and you can get out of your helicopter and run around, it's fun.

yes its much better than streets of simcity :) you sholud try. ypou can buy the new copter youare emergency, fire dept and police dept. in one :) its coll game:)

I haven't seen Simcopter on sale ever. Not even on budget or secondhand even.

I remember there was an incident involved with this game. One of the programmers had programmed himself into it so that his face appeared in the middle of the game or something.....

No, it was far, far worse than that. The programmer was a repressed homosexual and he programmed into the game gay men kissing while wearing tight swimming trunks. Big embarisment for Maxis when they found it. It was before copies of the game were in the shops but after they had been published and were ready for shipping that it was found. Needless to say, a lot of money was lost and a certain programmer lost his job.

doing a google search... only 8,600 links to search left.. and the one site that did have copter didn't work..

I miss some fligth sims.. The good old fligth unlimited etc. Alsow the Maxis Sim Copter was a great game.. It is fun to fly around in you city and se all the cool sites I've build! Haven't seen sim copter in years.

I got some of these sims. I'll check sizes of zips.

Damm...sim Computer is very old..

I remember an interesting old flight sim...think the name was Red Baron. I downloaded it from another site but the controls were hard to figure out and pretty boring. Yet it seemed good fun if you were bored

I got it as deal with 4 other flight sims (SU-27, Apache and some other ones)

I know this game...it isnt that old so probally not abandonware...

But that game got nice graphics...only too difficult to control :not_ok:

I have all of the falcon series including Falcon Gold, my favorite flight sim of all time! I dk if these are abandonware yet though...

Id love to find a -good- flight sim for download, one day...

Yep, and it's even freeware since 1997 already.

The only flight games I ever bothered with were Airfix Dogfighter (liked the atmosphere and game design), and the excellent Their Finest Hour: Battle of Britain (the old Lucasfilm game).

I even bought the original of the latter one for a six pack of beer a couple years back just to have it once again.

I tried long ago to upload Flight Sim 5 but the game works horribly both in dos-box and windows.

I'm working on uploading MS- Flight Simulator 5. I have no problem with it in either DOSBox or Windows (ME) except that it is horribly slow in DOSBox but that is my computer.

I never understood the praise Red Baron got, except that mabye for its time it was something special. Now days i find it too simple, boring and the graphics are terrible.

I really liked Su-27. There are two versions - one for DOS and one for windows - which works with sound on XP without VDM Sound. I want to play the game again, and I can't find the windows version. The windows version was on the site called "Classic Trash" but now the site is closed or something. :(

Im looking at HOTU alot...some quality sims there, and though ive usually only played flight sims im taking a look at the sub ones too.

is simcopter Abandonware,cause its a good game 6 to 7 meg's big. and now the overview of simcopter, Basicly you're a freelance pilot traviling from city to city to get lots and lots of money :D, and dont forget the neat addition of being able to play cities you've created in simcity 2000. EDIT, actually its about 16 to 17 meg's big.typo

I know it's not available for download on HOTU and they have a buy it link so I think we'll have to assume its still available.

A game is not an abandonware just because its small. Actually, the copyright laws says that abandonware and things like 'download and delete after 24 hours' doesn't exist..

BUT, some software firms don't sell the game anymore and think its cool to turn it avaible for free. And yeah, thas cool.

However, the most companies don't do that. Like Maxis and so many others... Example: Eletronic Arts created a pack with some oldies, like Need For Speed 2 and Need For Speed Hot Pursuit.
This away, any download of this games is ilegal.

The abandonware thing need a better explanation, and of course, the opinion of game companies..

Here in Brazil doesn't exist any law for software piracy, but, the government uses U.S. laws... This gave us some ways of 'protection', because some things don't fit in our country..

Gabriel, abandonware is games that aren't sold by the developers or publishers anymore. If putting them up for download here won't take away their income from that game, then it's concidered abandonware. Some companies don't seem to like this idea and have the IDSA protect their games, but most companies don't seem to care, basically because it's not a loss for them.

I've got a cheat waiting for it to be shown when it's added to the site.

Hehe, i have that game! many hours of enjoyment there.....the cheats are so much fun! My favorite is the one that turns you into a dog when you press shift...

SimCopter has been discussed on the forum many times. You can use the very nifty SEARCH function of the forum to find all topics regarding it! My best advice would be to use it :ok:

Heh, I'm new here. Anyway, I was going through my games folder in my C Drive, lord behold. Flight Simulator 4. Never thought I would see that again. Anyway, I can't remember who created FS4 and if that companies still selling it or on the ESA list. If its all good I'll see about uploading it. If my net holds.

I'm asking for Sim-copter because i got SC2000 SE from the ISO cellar and i found out its only one out of the two games that let you explore your city in 3D, and I'm asking for the newer one because of the 'Himbo' thing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SimCopter#Controversy

I got SimCopter but I got the version with the himbos (I think, I never knew about that problem until now).

Different version it may be, but that doesn't make them subject to different protection status.

and what's wrong with the himbo version? it's a part of history too. that's why this game has always been considered so controversial after all...

Hey all,

I'm new to the forum, but glad to be a part of Abandonia.

So, SimCopter is no longer under copyright protection (see SimCopter [SOLD] forum post under Rejected Requests), however it is still being sold, that is for Windows.

I was wondering, considering that no one sells the DOS version (at least when I Google-ed it yesterday) if the DOS version would qualify as abandoned, and thus be uploaded?

We consider the DOS and Windows versions to be the same item for the purpose of sold status.

Recheck status.

Sold only on Amazon Marketplace (also on the British and the German ones.)

I think we can label this as 'approved'.
