Akinator, the Web genius

http://en.akinator.com/

This is awesome, for now it guessed Akinotor's (his) mom, Jimmy Page, Fran Drescher and Josef Fritzl. Now I'm gonna try some more, really fun stuff!

Mighty Midget 22-03-2009 09:07 PM

HAH! It had no idea I was thinking of Robert Normann. It suggested Béla Bartók o_O

But I did get a nice congratulation upon beating it :D

EDIT: YAY! 2-0 to me! It wasn't Sibelius, but Grieg.

EDIT 3-0! No, it's not James Joyce, but Henrik Ibsen...

This guy is just GUESSING! :p :D

Tulac 22-03-2009 09:13 PM

The only one it missed for me was Charles Manson. :p

He got Vic Mackey, Saul Tigh and Super Mario from the fictional characters. :D

Mighty Midget 22-03-2009 09:22 PM

It got Pippi Longstocking right though ^^

EDIT:
Q: Is your character from the Scandinavian area?
A: Yes
Q: Is your character from Argentina?
A: WTF?
Q: Is your character Israeli?
A: Now you're just being silly for the hell of it.

Tulac 22-03-2009 09:27 PM

Yeah he missed all of the cast from The Shield except Vic Mackey, but there are a lot of TV characters that are similar so I don't blame him. :P

Mighty Midget 22-03-2009 09:33 PM

Ok, it got Gro Harlem Brundtland and Rasputin right. Back to the obscure ones then.

Chris 22-03-2009 09:41 PM

I challenged him with my favourite 'Bobbin Threadbare' and he came up with 'Simon the Sorcerer'. Not too bad, I'd say.

Great site, btw. :)

Dave 22-03-2009 10:34 PM

Wow, really nice! Hard to beat! I won with these:
Paul Atreides, he said Leonidas :p
John Connor, he said Indiana Jones

He won with Strelok from STALKER :omg:

Let's try other...

TotalAnarchy 23-03-2009 04:39 AM

Close, but not quite. I was thinking of The Nameless One from Planescape: Torment. He guessed the Nameless Hero from Gothic. :hihihi:

red_avatar 23-03-2009 04:46 AM

Wow, I went for Minsc from Baldur's Gate and the bastard guessed it!!! "Does your character have a hamster?"

It did not know Robert Foster (Beneath A Steel Sky) though.

Icewolf 23-03-2009 07:10 AM

He couldn't guess zakmckracken... :D

arete 23-03-2009 07:44 AM

it got Atilla the Hun and Mata Hari, but missed out on Priss from Bubblegum Crisis and Rick Hunter from Robotech.

It got the Major from GitS, though. And Sousuke Sagara and Lynn Minmay.

AlumiuN 23-03-2009 08:23 AM

Cool. But -

I said Material Defender (Descent), and it said Ben from Full Throttle, and then Sam Fisher. Not quite right :p. Then I said Sergeant Keller from Black, and he got close with "Soap" McTavish from COD4, and then close again with Preston Marlowe from Battlefield: Bad Company. Finally, I went for Durandal. It went for HAL 9000 first (oh so close), followed by Leopard (Sora Kake Girl), which I'm pretty sure is way off. Beaten thrice! Finally, I tried Lauren from UT, and he came up with Sarah Kerrigan, and then Miranda Keyes from Halo.

In conclusion, FAIL.

Tulac 23-03-2009 08:53 AM

Lauren from UT, Durandal? WTF? You should have tried with your neighbour next door, it's quite possible he is less obscure than the characters you mentioned.

Lulu_Jane 23-03-2009 09:40 AM

I think it's refusing to guess the anime characters on principal.

Icewolf 23-03-2009 09:46 AM

He couldn't get Ulysses / Odysseus neither... :oh:

Guderheinz 23-03-2009 11:10 AM

OMG! He did get Heinz Guderian (but he asked wierd questions - first he asked "did that person take part in WWII?" and some questions later: "Does your person play in a all-female band?" :omg:) but he couldn't guess Freddie Mercury! Maybe the fact that I said NO to the question "Is he homosexual" (he was bisexual, I consider it a different orientation) had something to do with it... :mhh:

The Fifth Horseman 23-03-2009 01:31 PM

It did get Catwoman. :)

And it DID get Priss from BGC. Except I was trying to get Nene.

Japo 23-03-2009 08:09 PM

So mainstream... I thought about Patroclus and he said Achilles. :sucks:

Kidding, awesome still huh?

HAHAHA Wow! That's impressive!

Now, it failed to guess Dildo Bugger from Bored of the Rings, or Stomper a.k.a. Arrowroot of Arrowshirt. Guess it has some reading to catch up on.

Boooo! It failed to guess Kosta!

How on earth it was sensible enough to reach the correct conclusion I was thinking of Keith Moon, I'll never know: Is your character still alive? No. Is your character dead? Um, gee, what other options are there?

_r.u.s.s. 25-03-2009 02:17 PM

there was a guessing darth vader like this, guessing objects, somewhere on the net

angry axe 26-03-2009 07:46 AM

damn he even guessed the hero from dragon quest VIII, roranoa zolo but the idiot said one of my guesses was hanzo hattori and not kotaro fuma

El Quia 26-03-2009 01:18 PM

I tried Patoruzu (a classic comic character from where I am), but it said Popeye. I tried again and said... Lobo? WTF!? Not even close! But fun, nonetheless.

Doubler 26-03-2009 01:51 PM

Couldn't get Conor Oberst, but it was second in the list. Couldn't get Siderovich either, but it was halfway the list. It simply doesn't know Rif (Inherit the Earth - no surprise there) or Saul Meyers (Boiling Point).

It did guess the Nameless One. "Has your character died once". That was impressive :)

El Quia 26-03-2009 04:48 PM

Stupid genie, is making me waste my time (and my employers money:embarassed:).

In another run it has guessed Patoruzu, Gral. San Martin (an argentinian Founding Father), Raistlin Majere and Lordi, amongst others, but it didn't guessed Father Torque (full throttle)

Twelvie 26-03-2009 05:21 PM

Tried David Lloyd-George, it guessed Eamon de Valera.

Icewolf 27-03-2009 07:06 AM

He guessed the Kebab-man from down the street. :D
