Just logged on and what a Surprise you guys gave me, WOW F-117A Stealth Fighter 2.0, only the most best loved game by me and my brother. We would stay up way into the night playing this flight sim and then be worn-out when it was time to go to work. This had to be the only game that I would say got in the way of my work schedule. Well, I have a problem with this game...the game does not respond to keyboard throttle control. I tried changing keyboard layout (czech/english), even remapping the appropriate keys in DosBox, nothing helps. Anybody knows how to fix it?

Hello could you help me please, I cant seem to get this game to work,
i enter the f117 folder and tried all the *.exe files, i either get an error message or nothing happens and dos freezes and the cursor disappears.

you need the .COM file
just type f117 and the game will run!

I tried using the f117.com as suggested, but after selecting joystick and sound there is an error that it doesn't support full screen mode. I checked the file and it's set to be window mode.

Are you using dosbox? Please use dosbox. If dosbox worketh not, try daemontools. We have dosbox tutorials in our troubleshooting forum. And also, please read our lovely faq.

The problem is in the keyboard layout, it must be "US".

i remember, i played this game long ago, and once, while trying to land in libya, i saw two helicopters. iirc my radar didn't detect them. for sure, it was this game and it was helicopters, but i played it a lot that time and newer saw them before and after. i checked craft charts on this site and there are no helicopters there. have anybody seen them too?

btw thank you for the wonderful site, i haven't thought i could find the game manual and the charts anywhere

I used to love that game back then.
I have tried to play it a few months ago but I had a tiny little problem, the + key didn't want to work, a tad annoying since it's the throttle :mischief:

The US layout doesn't work for me. So for what is worth and if someone is having the same problem, I have just managed to make it work by switching to keyb uk in DosBox XD

Now that I can take off at last, bye bye :)

Every button except throttle seems to work on keyboard how lame!

how do you set the keyboard to us in dos, can you be more specific as to how to load the game then change the layout back to US???

Do you ask about dosbox or plain MsDos????

For dosbox:
If you need to alter it the command syntax is keyb xx
For US layout: keyb us
Can simply be typed at the dosbox prompt.

Hello good people! Longtime DOS gamer, first time poster here. :hello:

I love Nighthawk F-117 2.0, but I would very much like to have an "untouched" version of it, I've tried amazon for a physical copy but no one will ship to Europe.

So I wonder, does anyone here have floppy disk images of it? Latest version would be preferred, or maybe a CD .ISO of the powerplus version!

In return I can offer floppy disk images of Fields of Glory, ISOs of the powerplus CD versions of Colonization, Civilization, CD ISOs of Panzer General, Dawn Patrol: Head to Head, Silent Hunter, and lots more. These are from my original boxed games.

Any help at all would be deeply appreciated!

Awesome game, but I've been having some problems with it lately. Well, one: sometimes my plane seems to crash into an invisible hill. The game just stops, the crash sound plays and then I see the death screen, telling me I crashed into a hill. It's happened three times so far, ruining missions and really putting a dent into my enjoyment of an otherwise fantastic, unique game.

There's no hill. I can see hills and mountains around the map, but none anywhere near close for me to actually crash into. In all three cases I had been flying level, at a decent speed and altitude (once I was even 600ft above the ground!).

I'm using DOSBox 0.74, and this has happened at both 10000 and 7000 cycles. Copy protection always answered right (well, I quit whenever I fail: could the game be sabotaging itself for the future?). No joystick, AdLib sound. CPU core and type both on auto setting. I haven't really tweaked the default configuration much, and have no idea what might be causing this bizarre bug. Nobody else seems to be experiencing it, as far as my googling could see.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Airdrop equipment?
 

In a Persian Gulf Cold War Strike mission it asks you to airdrop special equipment at an airfield. The manual says drop above 500 ft. I have tried dropping above 500; high & low speed. Under 500; high & low speed. The equipment never hits the target. How so I accomplish this drop to complete the mission???

I have recently began playing this game again. Persian Gulf airdrop missions are hit and miss. I drop from 750 ft agl and airspeed is less than 160 mph. I am successful 50% of the time. Hope this helps!

I encounter the "invisible hill" once in a while. It usually pops-up in Central Europe missions, level 10, while returning to base at either Neuberg, Leipheim or Memmingen (and once in a while at Ramstein). It doesn't matter whether I am flying at 500 ft agl or 30,000 ft agl. I think it has to do with turning while flying in certain enemy areas. It usually occurs on hard left and right turns, or just after coming out of a hard turn. To overcome the "invisible hill" I don't make hard turns until I am flying over "friendly" territory. It seems to be working so far.

Flying missions in Vietnam, I see helicopters hovering near the runways as I am taking off. I never see them when I am landing. If you fly out of Don Muang you can see them really well!:)

On level 10, flying missions over Central Europe, chaff & flares are useless against enemy air and ground radars. I usually dump them soon after take-off. This has a positive effect by lightening your weight... and this increases your range. 10,000 pounds of fuel performs like 11,000 pounds of fuel. Also, decoys are very heavy. I try to dump at least one decoy after take-off. You really only need decoys for IL-76 & Mig-31 aircraft, and SA-10/12 ground radars.

USAF F-117 Tactics & Procedures Manual
 

I have a PDF copy of the actual (unclassified) USAF F-117 TTP (Tactics Techniques & Procedures) Manual dated December 21, 2004. It is numbered 3-3.18 and has 175 pages. The PDF file is ~4 Mb. I would be happy to upload it to this site for others to download, if the management approves. Let me know. I find it adds some more realism to the game for me.

It would be interesting, but how do we know if it's genuine, and whether it's really unclassified? I can find no information on the Wikipedia, other than some of the components of this plane remain classified.

I guess the only definitive proof would be a download link for the same document from an official (.mil or .gov) website. Otherwise it can't be proven that this is allowed to be distributed, so I would advise not to risk it; I might be too cautious, but I don't want to be abducted to Guantanamo ;)

I agree with marko on this one. 1, it's not within the scope of abandonware games this doc, 2 apparently this particular document is not something we can host without getting an email asking what the hell do we think we're doing.
