I think you forgot to put the this update in the news
So I guess this is the first game that was posted in Slovene news before it was mentioned on any other part of the main site :Brain:

Translated it already?
When did you manage to do that?

Right after I joined the forum and saw it.
Translation isn't a hard thing to do if you're comfortable with both languages! Our reviews aren't exactly The Sillmarillion (now that translation was a piece of art - unfortunately some other guy who translated it from Serbian got the contract and published it - and the Serbian translation was a bad one So his translation of a bad translation really rocks big donkey balls).

Hehe...actually, I was having problems getting the downloading to work, so I had to leave it for Kosta to do as it was very late over here. The news is now up and all's good with the world.

Enjoy the game!

xoopx 16-01-2005 11:49 PM

heee this is a great game. i had it already, set up in dosbox a while ago. i have it set at dynamic core and 8000 cycles, and i assume i got that value from experimenting. i cant remember. it runs right like that anyway.

mouse31e 17-01-2005 08:17 AM

runs perfectly under XP for me! Love this game, graphics are looking a bit dated but hey, it's still F1. :D

weird. it freaks out for me in xp, even with vdmsound. funny old business, running old games!

Anette 30-01-2005 07:31 PM

I have a problem.. I downloaded the game but in my version Indy can't fight and I can't through the castle since I can't fight Biff... I can't control fighting so he just stands there getting punched.

caesar007 22-02-2005 05:45 PM

wow good thing i found this site , the one i bought doesn't work anymore , can't start the cd for some reason , no scratches or anything , just won't start the game ggr , dling this version LOL

caesar007 27-02-2005 06:35 PM

hi , it seems i still can't run this version , very weird , when i click on the enter button instead of just skipping the intro it exits the game and if i let the intro finish it never goes to the actual game and just repeats itself .... , i use win ME , do i need a special prog for this game ?

Tuttle 28-02-2005 08:07 AM

It doesn't like Windows much -- either DOS or DOSBox.

calin 29-05-2005 07:08 PM

Hi!

I have just discovered the old GP, and I rembered that it was possible to access the car setup but I don't know how

Any idea? it was some key combination during pit stops.

Thanks a lot

Guest 18-06-2005 03:37 AM

Isnt this the one with Steve Vai and Joe Satriani on the soundtrack?
One of the formula 1 games had them.

lethe 18-06-2005 03:52 AM

Oh no. Not this one. :w00t:

I remember sleepless nights with a "zzzzzz" inside my brain of playing this all day long with the sound on.

Proud of: 1.11.xxx (something, was years ago) on Monaco circuit. :tomato: Can do that circuit with my eyes closed.

Morton 18-06-2005 04:27 AM

Guest - you are thinking of Formula 1, on PS and PC. Voice of Murray Walker too :D

Guys I have problem with this one... it only wants to play the sound through my PC speaker.. is this the only way? Theres no SB compatability?

RalphieBRASIL 21-07-2005 05:25 AM

:ok: That's one of the best F-1 games ever!
I spent some really great days playing it... :D

ActiveF1 27-08-2005 12:53 AM

If you like the game, feel free to check out the following website here. There is activity in the news and forums and there's even a track and game editor projects in progress. Any active participation in the site or the work we do would be appreciated :)

I don't think you can run it in XP. Try DOSBox.

Omar 13-11-2005 05:30 PM

great game. Now we just have to wait for gp2 to become abandonware :ok:

Guest 12-12-2005 11:38 PM

Where can i download the manual? there is a manual protection

mouse31e 13-12-2005 07:48 AM

From the review:

Quote:

To run the game in this archive, you need to run F1GP.BAT. There is an abridged manual included as F1GP.DOC.
F1GP.BAT is already cracked so doesn't require copy protection answers.

Guest 13-12-2005 08:32 AM

Great racing-game with good graphics and features for its time but the control is terrible. Perhaps my faster PC is the cause.

Guest_Marty 05-03-2006 08:04 AM

I cant get it to run on XP Dosbox or that disk thingy plz help :help: :wall:

JMJ 16-03-2006 03:59 PM

:help: Always changing camera views make me mad! Somebody knows how to control it, please?

Guest 27-03-2006 04:22 PM

How i can put pit stops on? I mean how i can put the others go to pit. Like gas system etc...?

darkstyl 27-03-2006 06:05 PM

Hi!
Please tell me, where may I get the password list of this game.
I remember being 2 sheets of paper...
Thanks!

Guest 31-07-2006 07:17 AM

This game is a classic and still rates as one of the best games ever. A mate and myself would sit there for hours and hours and hours after school for literally a couple of years playing this game. basically, just trying to knock off those 100ths of a second of the lap record.
the lap records that come with the game are dead easy to beat. and once you master it, even the AI on the highest level is dead easy.

Guest 31-07-2006 07:24 AM

I remember the original protection used to be that they would ask for a certain word on a certain page of the manual. Ahhh the memories...
I remember this on the 486 dx 2-66. that was probably the optimum speed for it as once I upgraded to a 686 it was 2 quick for the game.

Tycoon 23-01-2007 01:05 AM

There are a lot of posts in the forum that could easily of been answered in this thread :) Might as well make this a mini-FAQ.

Definitely not true :) F1GP uses a fixed frame-rate system. Although this causes problems with things like Internet play, it is simply not possible for the game to run any faster than the fixed frame rate.

Set the cars brake balance to front 32 or rear 32 (I can't remember which, but you'll know when it's right, because your braking distances will be vastly slower). Suddenly passing cars isn't so funny anymore :)

In addition, try using an editor to make the AI cars harder. It can easily be updated so you'd be somewhere near the back of the field :) Some editors can be found here.... http://www.simracingworld.com/games/2/

The other cars will stop during a race. There was no refueling in Formula One in the year 1991, so there are tyre changes only. This means people stop much less :)

Quote:

Try using A-Z to accelerate and brake, and <> to steer left and right. The arrow keys control the camera :)

No, there is Sound Blaster compatibility. Try going to the game directory and typing INSTALL. You'll be able to configure the sound there.

Quote:

Can't get the game to run/suffering problems in the game [/b]
Try using Dosbox. The game runs perfectly inside it :) Remember you may have to change the frame rate and enable/disable track textures. You'll need to look at changing the cycles in Dosbox too, or just using cycles=max if you use the latest versions.

Hope these help :)

hired_geek 23-06-2007 09:40 AM

I have noticed this mentioned by a few people before, but how the heck do you find the manual protection key?

_r.u.s.s. 23-06-2007 11:51 AM

oh geez, come on, cant you read the download page?

For those interested, there is a Yahoo group for those people who like this game. It can be found here: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/f1gpwc/

There's not too much happening now, but work on an editor is going to be resumed in a couple of months when one of the lead programmers gets through a workload.

bollz 18-11-2007 05:33 PM

The game keeps driving me into walls always on the third lap of the race. What's going on?

Tycoon 18-11-2007 10:43 PM

You must have a copy which has a defect. I've never personally seen that bug.

Aaron70 06-04-2008 06:18 PM

Got the game to run in Dosbox but do sloooow. I am not sure what the problem is. I see you talk about changing frame rates and stuff. Sounds a wee bit complicated.

Mighty Midget 06-04-2008 06:27 PM

You can easily change the cycles in DOSBox. Press ctrl f11 and ctrl f12 to slow down/speed up. The number of cycles is shown on top of one of the two windows of DOSBox.

QOTimSA 27-07-2008 03:25 PM

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp!!!!!!

Do you have to 'install' the game before using it with DOSBox? I am told I need to install this game from a floppy disk - is there any way round this, as I do not have a floppy disk big enough to contain all 6.15 mb of ths game?

The game seems to run on my XP without DOSBox, but, as I have said, I cannot install it.

The Fifth Horseman 27-07-2008 04:17 PM

There never was a floppy disk with that kind of capacity.

What you need to do is:
1. Run DOSBox.
2. Mount the directory where you've unpacked the game.
3. Run INSTALL command inside that directory and configure the sound options (you only need to do this once)
4. Run the game.

QOTimSA 28-07-2008 08:24 AM

It works! Thanks! :)

Ibigoo 24-02-2009 02:02 PM

I play with keyboard - it's possible to turn off the steering help?

Sorry, Im really new to this, I just want to play my favourite game as a kid. Just downloaded DOSBox, how do I mount the directory?

dosraider 26-04-2009 10:12 PM

You begin with learning how to work with dosbox.
You click on the link and read ....

Hardware configuration, please.
Are you using memory managers (XMS, EMS, both)?

This is a truly amazing game, and very addictive too, by far the best of his time.
