Mount lines?
Inputs to run the game?
Include a screenshot of that error screen.

I moved your first message thinking it was a bot spam attack. :/

Unregistered users are not allowed to post images. That's why we can't see it.

What are you trying to show us?

DarthHelmet86 05-02-2011 05:31 AM

I think I see the problem here, the version from this site wont work in Dosbox without running the right file. Just to be safe, make sure you have not just mounted the U7 folder but the folder that U7 is in. Then you need to run Dosbox.bat.

Emjoy your game...and sign up for an account here.

ok i have an account now heres the image i tried to show before

Read my above post and Facebook and your computer paths with img tags around them wont show images. Use Photobucket or Imageshack to host the file and then they will give you links to use on most forums.

My above post should allow you to play the game.

either that didnt work or a .bat file type is not a windows batch file
ps. how do i get my avatar to appear (not trying to go off topic)

DarthHelmet86 05-02-2011 07:24 AM

Of course it isn't a windows batch file...it's a dos one. It needs to be run in Dosbox.

Go to My Settings>Edit Avatar (its on the list to the left) and upload one.

Did you get U7 from here? The folder hosted on our site includes a file named Dosbox.bat inside the U7 folder, this runs the game (it has settings for Memory and cycles I think).

So get the game from our site and run that file in Dosbox.

Monken8 05-02-2011 08:18 AM

I did get it from this site but ill redownload it just to be sure

Monken8 05-02-2011 08:26 AM

do u mean a .bat or .dat

DarthHelmet86 05-02-2011 08:35 AM

I just downloaded this from the site. Can you see the file name Dosbox.bat. You need to open Dosbox, mount the folder that the U7 folder is in and run that file.

Monken8 05-02-2011 08:48 AM

1. that is a windows batch file only mines on vista so it dosnt have 514.exe or you.png it has the file name then its type eg. 514 application or
you png file
2. i redownloaded it and the only difference (appart from the os we use) was that yours was 66kb whule mine was 1kb do you know why this may be?

DarthHelmet86 05-02-2011 08:51 AM

I use Vista. And while windows thinks it is a windows batch file...it will not work on windows. It will only work in Dos, just run the file in Dosbox. Do you know how to use Dosbox, do you need helping mounting the game in Dosbox. I don't see why you haven't run the file yet....

this is what dos looks like to me what do i do after i start it up to be able to explore files

DarthHelmet86 05-02-2011 09:05 AM

What the...I have no idea why you have it inside all those folders. Here just do this. (If you have spaces and such in a mount line you will need to put "" around it but for now just do what I say below.)

Unzip the U7 zip, make a folder on your F: drive called oldgames, put the U7 folder into the oldgames folder.

Open dosbox and use these mount lines:

Mount c f:\oldgames
c:

Then:

cd u7
dosbox

Monken8 05-02-2011 09:16 AM

it says unable to change to u7

DarthHelmet86 05-02-2011 09:21 AM

If its a folder that isn't possible...you unzipped the zip right? All there should be in your Oldgames folder is a U7 folder which has all the U7 files in it.

Monken8 05-02-2011 09:25 AM

it came up with an error while trying to install and it says down the bottom of dos
unable to copy install.exe
file u7.cfg not found
illegal command ultima7.com
the file is unziped

DarthHelmet86 05-02-2011 09:26 AM

Installing? Whaaaaa. I have no clue what you are doing man. All you needed to do was run the Dosbox.bat inside Dosbox nothing else.

Monken8 05-02-2011 09:32 AM

i have no idea what i did wrong the first time but i did it all again and it worked thanks a ton Darth id kiss you if you wernt all the way in perth and a guy

DarthHelmet86 05-02-2011 09:33 AM

Glad to know...kinda and creepy. :sneaky:

Anyway glad you got it working in the end.
