I just thought I'd mention here (as it's already mentioned in the Kings Quest 1 comments) that you can get a VGA enchanced remake of this game at http://www.agdinteractive.com/. They've not only improved on the graphics, but also on the story line and the puzzles in the game.

Also, how cool is this: http://www.bripro.com/gbagi/index.php

At the very start? No... I can send you a saved game file as your standing on the pier if you want....

Click on my name, then send me a PM with your email address.

This game was pretty cool but I have always felt it had one of the most unforgiving puzzles I've ever seen. If you cross the rope bridge more than five time the damn thing breaks. Too bad if you wanted to explore over there or just didnt realize. You could get ages into the game and not realised that because you went over the bridge one time you weren't supposed to you can never finish the game. that's just cruel.

I just found this game after age's looking for it. I had the original Kings Quest and loved that but took me ages to beat (hey I was only 5 when I first got it.) after I finally beat it I went out looking for Kings Quest II but couldn't find any store around that had it. All the stores had KQ1, KQ3, and KQ4. Now I finally get to play it after all these years. :D

dude, how freaking cool is that?

i played the HELL outta these sierra games when i was in high school and then in the army (87-93) and every now and again i get that nostalgic feeling and want to check them out again.

if you look hard enough, you'll find every freaking game out there in the internet for free. they're ALL out there, you just gotta dig.

anyway, i was just getting back into it all yesterday and am redoing the hunt for all of them because i'm an idiot and delete them all off the hard drive when the mood fades. i'm putting the band back together though, and started playing kq1 yesterday and beat it today. now i'm starting kq2.

anyway, just saying that i'm right there with you as far as the excitement. my wife keeps making fun of me behind my shoulder, but dammit i'm loving the hell outta these games!

i cant figure out how to download it. Any help?

Frodo 17-09-2005 03:03 PM

Hi Guest

You can't download this game because it's ESA.

There is a remake over on Reloaded that you can download - link below. :ok:

soo, i can't download any games on abandonia?

Frodo 18-09-2005 05:01 AM

@ Guest

You can download most of the games.
If you pick a catagory to look through (adventure, arcade, puzzle etc), the ones you can download have a small picture of a disk and the ones you can't download say esa.
:ok:

Wow... this was the first PC game that i REALLY got in to. it took me 6 moths and a day to finally beat. The bridge breaking was pretty lame, but to me (at age 8 or so) was reading the inscriptions on the magic door. I could never get that d****d mermaid to appear. It almost drove me crazy because I could see her on the game box. But to this day, II is probably my favorite KQ game. I still play it every few months. Im gonna give this VGA version a go. Im glad someone finally remade it. Hopefully some people who didnt get into PC games until later will give it a try. I know a lot off ppl are turned off by the old skool 16 color scheme.

cuzman 14-02-2006 01:52 PM

is there a site you can go to that you can actually download the original KQ?

No, you can't download the original because it's ESA. As mentiones above, there is a remake which you can download.

If you want the original, try eBay.

You can download it at Uhhh I forgot where but I know it's illegal so I won't post a link - ever,
Type in at the SEARCH box in the corner - QUEST and press ENTER.
Then you can blablablabla... A lot!

edit:DO NOT POST WAREZ or links to em ... man ... :titan:

Don't these Sierra games count as "sold" instead of "esa-protected" now? I'm sure they're on Amazon somewhere... You'd think they'd give them away by now

I highly recommend the AGD Interactive remakes that were mentioned earlier in this thread for KQ1 and KQ2. They did a great job of updating the graphics so that they have more of an early 90s feel. It's also nice to paly the game without typing commands!! :amused:

Akira 07-08-2008 10:23 AM

This was the first text-based adventure game I ever played. Also, this was the only KQ game I ever finished with absolutely NO hints whatsoever! (a big feat for me)

*Happy sigh* I still remember the first time my sister and I were playing and entered the screen of Old Hag Hagitha's cave to see the Batmobile cruising back and forth (Nana-nana-nana-nana Batman!). Good times, good times.:amused:

It's funny you say that...my sister actually likes the typing adventure games better than the point-and-click games

A good old adventure from the good old days. Sigh... They don't make them like this anymore...

I like typing adventure games better as well. Does anyone still make those? Text parsers are amazing.

Of course. An example
