Login problems again?

I seen that half-year ago, and now it is here again. Forum registration is Ok, but site said that I am not logged in. Some internal problems, or it's only me?

underdog 24-11-2011 09:34 AM

nope, happens for me, too. After I - successfully - log in, it shows my personal account site, but when i navigate anywhere else, like "home", for example, it says im not logged in and and asks me to log in before i can, for example, take part in the quiz...

Lulu_Jane 24-11-2011 10:02 AM

Hi guys,

I reported this to the tech overlords already :)

If you refresh and login again everything should be ok now.

underdog 24-11-2011 11:23 AM

yep, works for me - now.
at the time when i wrote my first entry about the problem, it was there after refreshing several times. anyway, now it works, and thats fine with me - thanks to the techies!

MrFlibble 26-03-2012 03:13 PM

Just for the record, a while ago I've been experiencing similar problems while using Opera (and have bothered dosraider, Frodo and The Fifth Horseman about that), but now everything seems to work just fine. Whatever you guys did, great thanks to you for that :smile2: :OK: (otherwise I'd have to switch to Firefox every time I wanted to post here).

rabadi 06-07-2012 12:24 AM

Testing...

EDIT: I can't find the login textbox for the main site, anybody experiences this?

EDIT 2: Never mind... just login through the registration page.

The Fifth Horseman 06-07-2012 10:54 AM

The new menu bar is hiding it. I've notified our technician.

Eagle of Fire 06-07-2012 02:19 PM

I logged in from the forums recently instead of going thru the site. When I realized my mistake I went thru the website instead.

As usual, the site and forums work fine with my FireFox 3.6.

TotalAnarchy 07-07-2012 05:34 AM

IE displays everything correctly.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

That you're not having any problems is in itself a bug.
Yes, you heard me right. You are NOT experiencing a bug thanks to a bug in IE. How's that for a logic bomb?

It's called an enhancement. IE always displayed pages better, but that's for another discussion. I was merely stating that some browser actually comprehended correctly the code. There shouldn't be any absolute web standards in the first place. It's a lame concept.

Yeah, sure. Let's get back in the good old days of IE VS NetScape. An era in which none cared at all about user feedback and user functionability because there was 0 competition, until someone finally managed to grab a bigger market share and imposed his view of what should be and what should not be, irrevelently of logic or common sense.

Now that would be a way better concept.

Calm down people :p, I've verified that the site login hides if you are using ADBlocker.
The technician is aware of the problem and he's trying to solve it, if you want to login just disable it for the main page.

Eagle of Fire 09-07-2012 01:57 PM

I'm using AdBlock and the login is not hidden either...

Dave 10-07-2012 12:18 AM

Let me rephrase it, those who are experiencing the problem happen to have ADBlocker activated on a recent firefox version (I have no info about Chrome yet). Just disable it in case of problems.

BentleyVA 10-07-2012 11:11 AM

after disabling adblocker and seeing all of the nonsense, i promptly logged in and reenabled it.

Japo 11-07-2012 05:48 PM

Everything is as usual here (OK as long as I log in from the website), except that I can't use "fast reply", it fails with a message:

Quote:

Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing or mismatched.

If this occurred unexpectedly, please inform the administrator and describe the action you performed before you received this error.

Smiling Spectre 18-07-2012 01:06 PM

Heh, login field now tied to biggest banner on site (after Facebook). "Traineeprograms.com". Fun. Just fun. :/

Smiling Spectre 28-07-2012 06:30 PM

Hey, I got an idea. Can we have "LOGIN" button on mail panel, just as we have now "LOGOUT"? It would simplify things...

slx 28-07-2012 08:09 PM

I can't login neither with Firefox 14.0.1 nor Internet Explorer 9.0.8112.16421...
and i know the quiz today...
:(

Great, it works now! :3:
:hello:

Eagle of Fire 29-07-2012 01:05 AM

I didn't notice because I was logging directly on the board but I just noticed that the new menu at the top prevent me completely from seeing the log box. I can't log in on the site itself anymore.

nextinline 29-07-2012 04:19 AM

same here, looking for a game for DOSBox w/ 3.1 on my thumb drive and...

Smiling Spectre 29-07-2012 08:14 AM

For me, it's not upper panel, Eagle of Fire. It's an ad above panel. If I stop blocking it, everything all right.

Eagle of Fire 29-07-2012 03:38 PM

... Well, except that it's the frigging navigation menu of the whole site? I can't really block it, as ugly as it is. How would I navigate the site and look for a game without the menu?

I wonder what was wrong with the previous one. The new menu look like we've gone 10 to 15 years back in term of site design. The main page is not even listed first now? O_o

Edit: nevermind, I think I just understood what you meant. God I hate being sick with the flu.

So, you're saying it is jumbled this way because I block the above ad or whatever with AdBlock? How stupid is that?

Smiling Spectre 29-07-2012 06:01 PM

Well, I blocked everything ad-related, and it was good for me... just to redesign. Now if I am blocking huge blue "TraineePrograms.com" banner (it's recognized as http://openadsnetwork.com/www/* in my ad blocker), I am immediately losing "login" fields. :/

Japo 29-07-2012 06:36 PM

I also experienced the login field disappearing. At any rate you can always log in at http://www.abandonia.com/en/user

To be frank I don't really care. I've stopped playing the guessing games years ago, when I learned that the pieces of heart would serve no purpose other than bragging rights.

Adding this piece of info on a sticky for others who wish to log on the site might be a good move though.

Japo 29-07-2012 09:47 PM

Until just now I was convinced that logging in through the website was absolutely necessary to avoid bugs. Is it not the case any longer? I've just started logging directly into the forums because I got a new smartphone, and browsing the website with it is a big no, let alone the forum inside a frame in the website. Since it seems to be working I've started to do the same on the computer. So far so good, although the forum session expires too fast, and I have to log in back again and again, but I already knew that, and it's by (bad) design...

Eagle of Fire 29-07-2012 09:49 PM

I remember that in the past you absolutely needed to log on the site to be able to be logged on the forums when Studentis took over. After a while (and probably after a fair deal of bickering from the admins here), they finally switched to being able to log directly on the forums instead.

Dave 30-07-2012 09:07 AM

It looks like an advertisement stopped to work and affected the layout.

[EDIT]
I've contacted the tech support.

Dave 30-07-2012 12:56 PM

It should be working now, please keep me updated.

How fast does it expire for you? I've increased the duration to 1 hour in vBulletin options, it can be longer than that if needed.

Smiling Spectre 30-07-2012 06:40 PM

It works now for me, Dave. Thank you! :D

Japo 30-07-2012 06:51 PM

Dunno, if I delete all cookies from www.abandonia.com and log back in, the first cookie to expire (called "__utmb") does so in 30 minutes. But I think this was the first time I had visited today and I was already logged in. If you can tell me which cookie it is? The next one to expire apparently takes days. Maybe it's not cookies that decide alone but the server?

I never saw the point in having the session expire so quick, and compared to the website. I guess it's to encourage visiting the forum from the website frame, but I wonder if it's effective, even if that aim were worthy (it probably is for Abovo), or if it makes sense in the tabbed browser era.

It should be these: bblastactivity, bblastvisit, bbpassword, bbsessionhash, bbuserid.
The session expiry should be occurring 1 hour from last action you took on the forum.

Eagle of Fire 30-07-2012 11:18 PM

I was around chatting with Kosta when he made the chatbox himself. Isn't some kind of code somewhere which disconnect you after a short while of inactivity? Half an hour sound right.

Ah OK so the expiry is decided by the server depending on the last visited value, not by the cookies expiring. All those cookies expire in one year, except for "bbsessionhash", which never expires.

Eagle of Fire 03-08-2012 08:05 PM

I was getting tired of having to log in every day... But after force reloading (CTRL-F5), it seem to be fixed now.

TheChosen 11-09-2012 02:44 PM

So here's another bug I just encountered. Whenever I press the Forum button at the top and it takes me to the front page of forum, it logs me out. Not from the site, but from the forum. There's a separate log-in thingie on the upper right corner now everytime it logs out.

Japo 11-09-2012 10:26 PM

Are you using /vbullet/ or the website frame? Are you sure it's not one of those cache problems, that you happen to have the index cached back from when you were logged out? I'm not having that problem. The separate forum login form is normal now, if I remember right some time ago it was disabled and you could only log in from the website.

Lulu_Jane 12-09-2012 05:23 AM

It's started happening for me too now, although it wasn't when I checked into it yesterday for TC. It's like the forum and site have become uncoupled again.

This is through the site frame. VB seems ok.

TheChosen 12-09-2012 12:30 PM

Its working fine now. I have no idea why.

Japo 12-09-2012 07:12 PM

Ah I've been using vbullet only since some time ago.

I keep getting the security token error though, sometimes when using fast reply, not always.

Intergold 13-09-2012 09:46 AM

I am getting that "security token" error when I do a search in "vbullet".

It's fixed.

Lulu_Jane 13-09-2012 05:24 PM

Glad to hear it's ok now. Welcome to the forums Intergold :)

Intergold 15-09-2012 04:48 AM

The so-called "Security Token" error returned(unfortunately). I can't do a search in "vbullet".

Edit: fixed(again).

Smiling Spectre 25-09-2012 06:20 AM

*Sigh* Can I ask for some change in "login" code again? It works perfectly in my Opera now. And in my Google Chrome too.

Problem is, I need it in my IE 6.0 now, and it's not works! :/

Well, I think, I will rather install IE 8.0... But I still want to let you know about it.

"Login" window in IE6 is too right (so it's partially covered by ads), and it's not active anyway. Seems like there is some control that not works in IE6.

---edit---
P.S. Yes, it's quite allright in IE8 now.
