Sometimes when I'm playing a game, there are some certain sounds or phrases that can drive me absolutely insane.
Some of my most hated are BG's "You must gather your party before wenturing forth" . It's fine when it says it like once, but he just keeps going on and on grrraaaaarrrrggggg!!!! ahem. Anyway. an older one is from the dig, when the protagonist says "It wont do anything" when you try using something on something. Sigh. Do I have a short intolerant fuse or do the rest of you have ones as well? |
Yeah, the party-gathering is EXTREMELY annoying.
Also annoying is the sound the Cliff Racers make in Morrowind. |
The most annoting sound ive EVER heard on a computer game was in Max Payne that bloody baby crying ALL the time even worse on that level where if you fell off the baby cryed..... Got into my head so bad....Hate that baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rifle:
|
That sound that priests make in Age of Empires something like vonane...
|
When you are stuck somewhere in adventure game and trying combining everything with everything(Happens very often on my computer). When main hero says for x-times something like -I cant- r -This wont happen- or something like that, I want kill someone. :ranting:

Here's a little trivia. I'm gonna make some annoying quotes from various adventure games where you try combining things and get irritating answers. the challenge is to guess (or remember) where it's from. Okay here we go: 1: "hmmmmm, no." 2. "Let's just leave 'im alone" 3: "That is NOT such a good idea" 4: "That wont accomplish ANYthing" Feel free to contribute more, I can't think of more right now |
i always thought that one of the most anoying things was when i used to play star wars the phantom menace for PS1 and Qui-Gon would say junk like "doors open lets go" or "you are learning well patawan" the worst was when he says "keep moving"

Nah, the most annoying sound you'll ever hear in a computer will be my voice saying "Well, that certainly cureld my motion" - in the game The Treasure Thieves by Fury.

HAHAHA yeah! Or "This thing's STUCK" :ranting: |
Oh god, I remembered another one. Anyone who played Kings quest 6 will undoubtably remember Alexander at the cliffs of logic "whoa wait a minute".
Dear lord... |

Guybrush saying "I don't think he'll like that" whenever I tried to give a character a rubber chicken with a pulley on it.
|
hey dreadlord what game are you talkin about? :guns:
--------DragonLancer |
Dreadlord is talking about Secret of Monkey Island. It annoyed me to. I often get annoyed with short phrases like

If I remember correctly, in The Riddle of Master Lu, the main character says constantly something stupid like: "I´m not thinking". It´s a great game, but it had quite many annoying sounds and phrases or whaterver. It is a pretty hard game too, so it probably just sounded more annoying than it actually was, because you get so frustrated with it.
|
Simon the sorecerer 3D when you don't really know what to do and you try to combine different items, Simon keeps saying stuff like "That's probably not a good idea" "have you gone mental" "that won't work"
He has around 5-6 phrases and he uses them over and over and over AND OVER AGAIN, it's like you want to cry because you can't skip past the phrases, but you have to listen to them in their full lenght. Pat McGroin: no score ///MJ |
Twin Snakes for GCN, try to shoot the rocket at the Rex when it's pinning Ninja, but Snake just replies with something like "No, I can't..." I pressed the button in a speedy order and it results in "N... No... No I... N.. No... N.... No I Can't..."
|
Or that awful helicopter from Simcity 2000 "Helicopter one reporting heavy traffic".
Thankfully we could shoot it down! |
Warhammer 40k: Chaos Gate. Most annoying voices I ever heard, most cliche dialogues too.
"The heat of a thousand suns shall destroy you!" screamed with a voice of a rusty metal grate can get annoying 15 time over... |
I just remembered another one I absolutely hate. Generally in Bg and Bg2 it's annoying when the characters say their weapons do no damage. But particularly Jaheira in Ng2 "My weapon has no effect!" sooooooo got on my nerves :ranting:
|
Around 1990, there was a truly poor strategy/action/RPG title with terrible AI based on Joan of Arc. When an execution occurred, you'd hear an extremely loud repetitive crunching sound, with something like a cow wailing in anguish in between. It repeated about a dozen times, and there was no way to turn it off. The thing was evidently meant to be an axe, with a crowd roaring. I still can't forget it. I wish I could.
|
Playing the demo of Daggerfall on a operating system that wasn't one of it's extremely strict list of compatible systems would result in a very high pitched screaming noise that would eminate from anything if a sound effect was being played.
Or some of the units in Dark Reign "Yeeeees?" "Tumbertain" Ah, Tanya, she sounded normal in the cinematics but ingame she sounded like a freak. "YEAH? "HAHA!" |

although the original C&C did have by far the best music of the series. |
Red Alert had the best music for the series in my opinion.
Imps in Dungeon Keeper got on my nerves frequently. "Wahoo!" -When dropped "Eeeouch" -When Smacked "Yiggidyiggidy" -Randomly "YAAAAOOWW!" -Sighting an enemy "Yahow!" -Attacking "Blegh..." -Killed (Thank god) |
just the other day i was playin a game called Champions of Norath (its a great game) but anyway it gets really annoying when your inventory is full (happens alot) and you try to pick somthing up, becuase your guy say's "ummmm.... no" or "im carrying to much" or even "thats to heavy lets just go" and he says it over and over and over and......... well you get the point :guns:

"Can't build there"
Warcraft 1,2,3 in every game that is one of the most annoying phrases your peons will utter. |
Build more farms/not enough food
|
Yeah I agree with that farm one,
|
"Can't manage it." - The City of the Lost Children. The amount of times you encounter that in the game... it's been five years or so since I last played that game, but I can still recall that line perfectly and can just play it over and over in my head. Bloody annoying.

In Peasant's Quest, when you complete an objective and get a point it goes "Budda-buh-beep!" Thats annoying if you hear it 150 times. And the death sound in the orignal King's Quest ticked me off because those jerks were mocking your death!!
|
Enemy Nuclear Missle launched...
Guess why... |

The Gold Saucer theme in Final Fantasy VII, the song alone isn’t too bad but hearing the loop over and over and over again seems to drive you slowly insane.
|
The victory song alone from Final Fantasy is annoying.
|
i just thought of another one (it for PS2) If you have ever played kindom hearts and are pretty good at it, when you get to the last boss and die you have to watch a whole like 10min. movie over again and again and again untill you finaly beat the last boss. If you lose congrats you get to hear it again. :guns:
--------------DragonLancer |
Quote:
and FF series had these problems u had to watch all the cutscens which could last for 20 minutes just to try to beat the boss. |
thax and ya FF is hard plus long. FFX had 100+ hours worth of movies!
|
Discworld
When you tried to do something that couldn't be done, rincewind would say, "That can't be done." |

:ot: The Best part of the whole game is "Throw Baby" |
Diablo:
I can't use that I can't carry anymore :wall: |
there's one particular explosion sound effect which i'm sure is used in half-life, but i swear i hear it all the time on adverts on the telly and all over the place, and it bugs me.
of course, i could just be going slightly insane. maybe i'm in some sort of low-budget even-more-boring Truman Show and they've only got a few effects to use... |

:ot: There was a movie called 'Them' where these giant ants made a freaky sound like "Screee Screee" really high pitched. I was flipping through the channels and I heard the sound in a computer animation of a dragonfly!!!! |
oh thank god, thought i was going mad(der)!
tlking ants, anyone remember those giant ant missions in Red Alert: Aftermath? they were ace. |
They were sweet! I remember you had to click on the speaker/radio to get into them, but man! Once, my brother accidentally had in the CD for normal Red Alert, and the ants started spewing lightning! My favorite part of those missions was the queen. She only took one guy to kill because of all the barrels.
|
I'm sorry but hands down THE MOST annoying or should I say stressful sound in ANY game EVER has to be the "ERGGHHH!" sound of your character dying in Ultima Online! There are fiuve but there is one that paritcularly annoys me!
:hairpull: :wall: :pissed: P.S: Specially just for you guys heres a link to that sound! Here |
I found the death sounds in Doom were really annoying, killing a zombie would result in some sort of deep throated man trying to spit up pleghm.
|
YOU N'WAH!
FETCHER! PREPARE TO DIE, SW'IT! YOU N'WAH! FETCHER! PREPARE TO DIE, SW'IT! YOU N'WAH! FETCHER! PREPARE TO DIE, SW'IT! Goddamn Morrowind. Also, that boring background music it has that's the same everywhere. It really took some of the fun out of exploring Dwemer ruins when you hear the same little sleepy tune that plays in Seyda Neen. Someone should rip those dark elf insults, and set them to generic techno with that horrible bgm, sped up, playing. |
Every other phrase in Warcraft is annoying.
From the Peons "yes, my Looord" :not_ok: To the heros in Warcraft 3 "I am blind, not deaf!" :ranting: |
"Plebs are needed!" Every 30 seconds in Ceasar II
"Snaaaaaaaaaaaake!!!!!" Dying in MGS "Ughh" Lara Croft running into a wall (as she so often does) And the sort of swishy wurling sound in FF7 (and 8 i think) when you 'accidentally' stumble across some enemies..... for like the 100000th time. :eeeeeh: |
I forgot about the Final Fantasy washing machine. Lord, I hate everything about that series. May it rot! :bleh:
Anyway, how about anything to do with food in the Black Gate, and maybe Serpent Isle too? "FEED ME AVATAR! I'M DYING OF HUNGER!" Gaaahhhh. |
To @hkizzle:I loved sentences in warcraft.I think they are excellent  Warriors of the night,Assemble!!! :D
to @Mastergrazzt:I loved backround music in morrowind.I even downloaded it and listen it again and agian and again...But the dark elven insults are terrible.I fought three dark elves and they said You N'wah probably thirty or forty times  |
