Hey guys. About that line 5 word 5 thing, just press enter. I've got a harshly embarassing confession... I can't make it past the second level. The one with the monkeys (I just want to kill the little freaks!). I know you gotta scare the purple ones or whatever, but no matter what I try, I can't get past the second set of monkeys. This is horrible, I downloaded this game for my 5 year old and I cant even get past level two!!! Heeeeelp!!! :wall: -vader |
hey :D I used to play this alllllll the time when i was a little kid ha i used to love this game *cant believe its now on dos* nice pick LOL (maybe i can show it to my little bro. he might like it :D ) :guns:
|
I'm running this game through DosBox but it's very slow like someone said a page before... could someone help me?
|
Try this link.
|
:help: I can play the game but it has no sound. What should I do? Please help me! :help:
|
Did you run Install.exe before running the game? You can set up the sound through that.
|
help me please what are all those things with numbers that i have to fill out
|
Ok, when you're in DosBox, type in Install, then hit return.
Press 2, so you'll be in the menu to select the sound drivers. Press 1, so you'll select Sound Blaster Keep pressing Return until you get a red message saying "Configuration Saved" and you arrive at the main menu again. Press 3, so you'll exit the setup. Start the game now, like you did before. |
i did that but it still doesnt work. it works until it comes to the main menu then the sound goes off. anymore help please.
|
This's odd... I'm afraid I can't help you out further =/ I'm sure there're others here that can, though.
|
to the people complaining about having xp and dosbox but STILL having speed problems...
if your computer is rather old than its going to run slow, i have a athlon550 and everything on Dosbxo runs slower than my grandmother on a sunday. thats why i play games at work :D Also, to the guy who says "help" constantly.... here are some pointers - be patient - partake in other activities besides spamming - die :sniper: :D |
the game used to work but now it doesnt
and i dont know how to use dosbox |
need help stuck at the type game or setup part what does that mean and where and what exactly to type thanks so far
|
okay i just downloaded the game and done it myself
type "lionking" at that part |
it said illegal command
|
:wall: really?
have you mounted the C drive and everything? |
yes i did all of that
it says C:\> |
did you type "lionking" without the " ?
as in.... type this.. lionking if you did and it still does work, type the following dir and tell me what comes up |
a lot of stuff i think its the folders that are in the root folder that i mounted and lionknig is one of those folders
|
ahh okay, you didn't mount the lionking folder but the one before it...
okay type the following cd lionking (or whatever you called the folder) lionking I THINK that should work.... if you called your folder lion king it probably won't work because theres a space.... dosbox doesn't like spaces... |
thank you very much sir sorry we got out on the wrong foot but thank you now me and my sister can play some games that i know we would love

Here is a brief list of speed control shortcuts: CTRL-F7 Decrease frameskip. CTRL-F8 Increase frameskip. CTRL-F11 Decrease DOSBox Cycles. CTRL-F12 Increase DOSBox Cycles. I find 16000 to 18000 cycles does it. For my part, this is a good game. It is a vast improvement on the one I used to play - on a SEGA Master System II. Most notably, on the MS2, the Stampede level was basically Simba jumping ledges and avoiding landing in front of the wildebeast. These were basically sprites that glide along the bottom with absolutely no animation whatsoever and look more like buffalo than wildebeast. Furthermore, their speed relates to the screen region, not the level, so they seemed to move faster as you progress to the right. On the PC version, they came a long way. Now your viewpoint dollies in front of a running Simba looking back and the charging wildebeast creep up behind. All you have to do here is move out of their way as they overtake and jump over the many rocks lying in your path. :w00t: Also, I might add that the battle with Scar at the end is much more engaging! Just avoid getting smacked! |
Hello Guys,
it is true, that you can't save the game but there is still a cheat to skip the first levels (as far as I remember: When the game starts and you see the menu screen - Type "dwarf" it will say say something about having entered the cheat mode. when you start the game afterwardds you can skip levels by pressing "L" (I believe, I didn't play it for some time so I might be wrong, just try other letters if L doesn't work) There might be some other features of the cheat mode but zhis is the only one I ever used - have fun. |
I remember this game well it was one of the first games i owned but for the gameboy ( came out on the gameboy too ) although i think i got it from spain and it was only a demo so i was only allowed to get to the running bulls but good times man good times ( im 13 right now so i was a little kid then.....I also had the Danish version of the movie.......oh and Aladdin too cant forget Aladdin good tmes man good times LOL
|
I don't think there is ANY person in this world who can complete this game without cheating!
|
I had this game for Sega, I could get to the last level then die :(. So many memories...:D! Any reason as to why the game has bad FPS? I'm using DOSbox, it's not slow, just FPS skips.
|
ahh good times mates...back when i had the old sega console... to bad its running real slow for me...
|
Post your sistem specifications, and DOSBox specs (cycles and frame skip, etc.)

yeah, he asked about controls i think. as i remember, you steer simba by arrow keys, shift and ctrl.
|
How can i make simba pull scar over him to throw him over the edge of the rock, to complete the last level (what combination of keys do i need te use?)
|
It was my fav game when I was around twelve years old....but I never got through Hakuna Matata Level....I hate that waterfall :ranting:
I think it is a very funny game ---I love the stampede level---I still have it on my old PC....I'm going to play it right now *O* Lok |
Hi. Just completed this game after finding the box from many a year ago. Worried I found it so hard, but seems others had similar feelings! To those who questioned about the controls here is the info provided in the manual for the default set up (can be altered in options menu):
"The Controls Moving Around: The LEFT and RIGHT CURSOR (arrow) keys can he used to move Simba left and right. Looking Around: Pressing and holding the UP or DOWN CURSOR (arrow) keys will make Simba stop and look around. Use this feature to check out potential dangers from above and below! Jumping: Use the SPACEBAR to jump straight up or with the LEFT/RIGHT CURSOR (arrow) keys to jump left/right. Roaring: To momentarily stun his adversaries you can make Simba roar by pressing the CTRL key. Rolling: When the young Simba is running he can curl up into a ball to bump adversaries in his path. You can do this by pressing the DOWN CURSOR (arrow) whilst running. Slashing: When Simba is an adult you can use the ALT key to slash adversaries with his razor sharp claws. Mauling: As an adult you can make Simba maul and flip adversaries by pressing the LEFT SHIFT key. Grabbing: If Simba leaps for a ledge hut doesn’t quite make it, he will grab it and hang on. Note that if Simba is hanging from a crevice in a solid wall, he can spring off it. If there is a wall behind him, Simba will turn and grab on to any available crevice. A technique can be developed which will allow Simba to climb. If you find these keys difficult to use you will be pleased to know that all of the controls can be changed and configured from the options menu to suit your own taste." Hope thats some help! Here are the level descriptions as well if they can be any use: Simba’s World THE PRIDELANDS Take it slow and get used to controlling Simba, especially his pounces, rolls and roars. Beware of the explosive Bombardier Beetle, watch out for Special Items and don’t be afraid to explore (there’s no time limit). Take advantage of the Continue Markers to save having to replay from the very beginning. CAN’T WAIT TO BE KING Use the rhinoceroses’ heads to spring into the trees, and make the most of the bird’s nests to reach the monkeys. Beware: some monkeys are confused by Simba’s roar... When Simba’s riding the ostrich, duck or jump the birds’ nests. THE ELEPHANT GRAVEYARD Be warned: two hyenas are ready to fight at the beginning of this level. Swing and climb through the bones, but don’t linger too long on the crumbling ones... The vultures attack with a swoop, so climb higher and turn the tables on them. Stretched elephant hide is springy, but there’s a limit... THE STAMPEDE The wildebeests have bolted, so run before Simba’s trampled. Look out for warnings of boulders and jump out of harm’s way. SIMBA’S EXILE Look before you leap - and drop! Scar’s hyenas are on Simba’s tail, throwing rocks all the way; the only way to escape the Pridelands is through its thorny border. HAKUNA MATATA Guide Simba across the different waterfalls, jumping as high as possible between the logs. Beware the gorilla’s coconuts; try rolling to knock them back. SIMBA’S DESTINY At last Simba’s become a full-grown lion, so take the time to get used to his new moves: mauling, slashing and heavy pouncing. And listen to that roar! The vines can be cut with a slash, but the falling rocks must be avoided. Pounce, maul and roar to defeat the cheetahs and pass through the Pridelands. BE PREPARED Avoid the dripping hot lava. Ride the rocks on the river and beware of the bats. Watch out for the geysers in the final room and ride to the exit. SIMBA’S RETURN Chase the hyenas off Pride Rock and show them who’s the rightful king of the Pridelands. Simba must defeat all the hyenas in a room before he can move on... and eventually confront Scar. Push up to enter a cavern and emerge elsewhere in the level. PRIDE ROCK This is it: Simba’s evil uncle and pretender to the throne Scar, must be beaten, in a fight between the two mightiest lions in the Pridelands. The fate of Pride Rock depends on you! The Bonus Stages There are two different ones - can you find them? BUG TOSS Use Pumbaa to collect the falling bugs dropped by Timon. Avoid the Bad Bugs (see Bad Bugs on page 8) but don’t miss any of the others or this Bonus Stage will come to an end. Use Pumbaa’s belch to clear the screen of all bugs that might be missed. Note that Pumbaa has only one belch per Bonus Stage. BUG HUNT Use Timon to hop between the ledges and collect bugs. Again, don’t miss any - except the bad ones - or this Bonus Stage is over. Finally here are some tips: Pridelands: Look out for the secret area near the end of the level: on the ledge to the top right of the map with two chameleons on it there is a stone that Simba can grab on to and then crawl over into a 'secret' area - watch out for the Porcupines though. CWTBK: On the final set of monkeys Simba must first roar at the only reachable pink monkey (*NOTE* - if you didn't already when first landing in this area jump on the rhinoceros and be flung about by the monkeys before changing anything to pick up the 1 up *). When flung around he will then be passed over the water on to another tree. Here roar at the monkey Simba lands next to before jumping off and crossing back over to the otherside on the logs (be sure to time right plus pick up the 1 up). Now again go to the first rhinoceros and begin to be thron about again. This time you will end up being thrown back from the second tree by the monkey you just changed and land at the top of the first tree. Here roar at the monkey next to you and before you jump down jump over to the nest to the right to collect the bug (I think it opens a bonus round). Once you have jumped off, proceed to the first monkey and roar at it again to change it back to its original position. Now jump on the rhinoceros for the final time and after much flinging you will reach the end of the level! Elephant Graveyard: Hakuna Matata: In order to arrive half way up the waterfall rather than at the bottom, make sure to jump on to the furthest right slippy slope at the top. This will take you to a single ledge. From here jump on the slippy slopes again holding right down to make sure you don't end up at the bottom of the waterfall. Although the waterfall is hard (and frustrating!) there is a trick to it: once jumping on to nearest (slow moving) log you should then be able to quickly be able jump over to a quickly falling log towards the middle. Although the middle may at first seem the hardest route because of its speed it can in fact be the quickest and easiest route - one of the central log streans is frequent enough to allow you to jump directly from one to the log above, straight up. As the distance varies between the log, this straight up jump must be combined with occasional jumps to either side to reach the next close pairs. For those perfectionists (or masochists... ) out there once you reach the top of the water fall to your left there is a ledge from which you can jump from to collect a bug I think for a bonus stage. However be warned jumping to collect this bug will take you right down the waterfall again. When fighting the Gorilla in this level there are a few tricks. Firstly do not try jumping at it straight away - it will simply slap you away taking away vital health. Instead wait until it begins throwing coconuts at you. The manual recommends rolling at them to bounce them back, however I cannot vouch for this method as I didn't use it at the time. Instead I waited until the gorilla was preoccupied with throwing nuts and then jumped on it then. Where possible try to jump on the gorilla from up above (i.e. a higher ledge) as this will allow you to damage it more easily without being hit. The gorilla follows a similar sequence: first waits a bit slapping you if you try to come close, then begins hoying nuts for a while. Eventually the gorilla will thump the ground, inflicting damage on you if you are in contact with the ground anywhere in its vicinity. This patterns repeats each time it jumps away after you damage it. Simba's destiny: Stand and slash on top of boulders to make them move. Be Prepared: After a very hard level you will eventually reach a room with several lava shoots in it. Beware boulders will regulalry fall from above in time with the lava shoots although they do not fall on the areas above the lava shoots so you are safe there. The shoots follow a 'sweep' pattern from left to right, only one bursting at a time. Therefore if you always jump one ahead of the shoot just about to go off you should avoid the lava and boulders. Continue repeating this jumping back to the start when you reach the end of the cavern. Eventually rocks will fall from above and plug the shoots, one after the other - be careful as these rock will kill you instantly. The shoots will each be plugged until the last is reached. As soon as the plug falls on this jump on it and you will proceed to be propelled on the rock out of the level. Pride rock: Try attaking Scar with the maul (Alt). Although it is a weak attack and Scar will defend against it, it does not leave Simba exposed like for example the slash. By repeatedly mauling and pushing forward you should be able to force Scar in to a corner etc. where he cannot back off further where you can repeatedly maul him without any chance of attack - however be warned you will end up pressing the Alt key for a very long time. After a few minutes of mauling back off quickly - if you have attacked him enough Scar should preceed to try to escape into a previosuly unreachable area. If Scar does not however escape continue with the maul treatment for longer. In between your scuffles you will need to transverse across a variety of ledges etc. fighting any hyenas on the way. You will finally reach Scar for a third time . Here repeat the maul attack until he becomes to weak to attack you properly. Now comes the tricky part - you must fling Scar from this ledge into the fire below as in the film. To do this force Scar with the maul towards the right edge of the platform. However do not force him all the way, leaving enough room to jump over him, so that you end up facing him with the end of the platform behing you. Here you the fling/flip attack to throw him over you back and off the ledge (press left shift when moving into Scar). Hope thats some help - sorry for the length! And for all those who have been thinking this - yes I am sad playing a game for small children but then hey! LOL |
ahh..this is a lovely game indeed..the colors, the story and the way the graphics where made!
I had this on Sega 16-bit system and i always came to the fitht or the sixth level.. Lovely Game :ok: |
Well, this game is available for download on one site. The site appers to be a legal one and is also devoted to abandonware games. But I am not writing that name here. If anyone wanna search, serch carefully on Google, you will definitely find what you want.
By the way, I have a Windowed version of this game too. Is that version freeware or commercial? |
There's quite a few sites which aren't necessarily warez sites and which offer ESA-protected games for download nevertheless. But I think that's mainly because the people who maintain those sites don't realise they're not supposed to do that. And because ESA haven't been tipped off about them yet...
|
Wow. a big kitty game...
Sometimes you can find games that arent here in some of the abandonware links. However, I don't think you will find this one there. |
Okey dokey :D
Moving on.... Really like the big kitty game! |
Admins, or mods come remove the link above, please.
Anyone ever hear of Kimba the white lion? |

ok well if some1 has problem with lion king at the begging, when the game is asking for first words on pages, its:
first word on page 5 word 3 is "difficulty" first word on page 5 word 5 is "music" |
I think there's a bug in the game...
Sometimes, when you start a new level, your roar doesn't charge, so your roar doesn't work - this is especially painful on level 2. |
I'm a Disney movie freak.
I used to play this on my Genesis and it was great fun! This mesage was brought to you buy Mars Security .Marsec do not garuntee that missiles will hit specified targets, also Marsec do not sell AG Missiles, those will have to be researched and produced seperately. Batteries not included |
Wow, I remember playing this game with my sister. its really fun and addictive when your about 11. It seems to have a lot of charm now that play it again.
ohh well *sigh* we had your good times. |
Oh man was this a good game. I loved it when I was younger. Too bad I wasnt smart enough to get it when I had the chance.

Hello.
:help: I need help on the third level the elephant graveyard. I don't know if I can't get past the level because I am an incompetent twit who lacks the skills of the children this game is aimed at, or if the programme has a bug, or if I am just missing a glaringly obvious solution. The bit I cannot get past is after the first vulture appears, when you've swung across all those bones and you have to jump to the next platform. All I can see as means of another platform is one with a black widow bug thing on it which goes nowhere. I love this game so much, so the fact that I cannot get past this bit is suicidally frustrating for me. On a seperate note, the cheat mode refuses to work for me! so that is annoying too, as it means I can only play the first three levels and the music is starting to wear a little thin.... My the computer which has the programme on is old and cranky. With a monitor the size of a double-decker bus. A genuine MS-DOSmobile. Sorry I wrote so much. It's cos' I'm a girl, y'know. |
You Posted A Massive post Cause You Are A Girl?
Makes No Sense To Me. 3rd Level? Do You Have The Full Version? If So, You May Find It More Difficult To Get An Answer Because Not Too Many Of Us Here Probably Have The Game. Who Knows. I May Be Wrong... |
Um. Thankyou I guess for that non-entity of a helpful comment. I wrote a lot and blamed it on my gender because in my opinion girls tend to be a lot more communicatuve and wordy than most blokes. So ..... can I just ask if no-one in here apart from me has the game, then how can this possibly be described as a help forum?
Someone has to have completed the damn thing without cheating (because that refuses to work for me) so someone must know what it is I have to do to get past that bloody level! PLEASE! |
hey wtf do i do on level 2 with that dan ostritch, it keeps killing me :S

there r about 50 different cool melodies in game. U can listen to them in options menu. It was first mp3-like player for sega =)

i'm at the final battle, how i can win?
i'm fighting like 20 min. and nothing heppen :titan: |
It's a bit troublesome level, really. You must throw the other lion (what the heck was he called, again???) away and follow him. When you're fighting him, mashing the action/movement keys like crazy tends to work.

You only need to throw him off the top of pride rock (third place where you fight him I think). You can do it elsewhere, but if you don't time it exactly right in the other places, he'll pin you down and kill you. |

But I loved watching my sister play, and it made me sad when we suddenly didn't have the game anymore...was it on the Sega Gamegear? I think my cousin brought it. Funny Thing that they still have it in ESA Claws but it isnt getable even on the Disney Side in any way :wallbash:

That's how it is with most ESA-protected games... or didn't you know?
|
Okay, so I downloaded the game on my sisters computer, because on mine it wont install, even with DOSbox. I have Windows Vista. Hers is XP and it installed perfectly fine, without DOSbox or anything.... And now, the game works, but it goes really slow. Actually, It goes fast when I change the screen resolution or even sound settings or sometimes when I minimize, wait a minute then go back on, it will go fast but only for a minute, the most. I tried the whole altF8 thigns or whatever, but simba only roars? And as I dont have DOSbox open on this since its not on the computer...
I really didnt understand the DOSbox too. I did what was suggested how to install and all it ever said wa illegal command. Even when I tried to mount, that confused me it would say somethign like "mount lionking so mount must be on c" or something along the liness of that. If anyone could help me... |
oops meant ctrl F8. tried f9 f11 and f12 as well. but since I press ctrl simba just roars.
|
Well, our compatibility icons on the game page suggest it won't run properly on anything but DOS or DOSBox. I suggest you give DOSBox a try again :) Please feel free to ask us for help in our Troubleshooting section, on how to get it up and running. It may be a bit confusing at the beginning, but I'm sure you will get the hang of it.

Played this back when i was a wee lad, very awesome platform game, especiallyl ike it when he does that little roar XD

I just found the game on "[Removed]" page... Looking at the name of the page, I thought it has an abandonware status. Hasn't it? |
There's plenty of sites which confuse Oldwarez with proper Abandonware. That was one of them.
According to our information, Disney is actively protecting all games derived from their licenses. Meaning, if we put it up for download it's good-bye Abandonia. |
i loved it when i was 8 and i still do :)
|
I'm not an English speaker so forgive me about the language. I have a number of questions:
1. Where can I find the soundtrack for this version (pc)? 2. In some games, like Aladdin, if I choose no in the question of the hanced music (in the install), I can "play" with the sound when I play. It means that if I turn off one of the loudspeaker (left or right), I can hear the song in the game without some instruments (and it's so cool!). Why does Lion King haven't that possibility? Does there is a version of Lion King which has that possibility? |
well you could run setup and disable sound effects (if there is some), but you could also disable soundblaster and leave roland only
|
O.K, thank you.
Sometimes, when I play the game, the game suddenly turn off and on the window of DosBox the massage "End of trigger list memory" appears. How can I solve it? |
Try setting core=normal in dosbox.conf.
|
Darn it. It doesn't work.
Mayble I didn't do it well. Do you have a guide for this? |
Quote:
by then you can try different versions of dosbox and vdmsound |
Quote:
By default, DOSBox provides 16. So that's definitely not the case. |
there are lots of kinds of memory... :)
|
More likely, this could be one of those incidents where DOSBox simply provides too much memory than the program expects.
Loadfix might help. |
I had this game on my old, old supernintendo, then that stopped working... But at least I can play it on my computer! I've been playing this game about... well, all my life! :)

I downloaded this game from other sites and it does the same thing. If it helps I use a front end (DFend Reloaded).

@Punkassbitch: Make a shortcut to dosbox in the game folder. Drag the executable onto the shortcut. Most games here are preconfigured for you anyway. If that doesn't work, go to the Vogons website and go through the simple gui tutorial.

Runs like a charme :)
This game brings back many childhood memories as it was the first video game I ever played (other than Solitair and Pinball). I still remember the music, the graphics and how I always got angry when I couldn't make it to the next level. Honestly, I sucked at the game, I never made it further than Level 3 so it's about time now :max: |

monkeys and words

The second level with the monkeys is a bit difficult. you have to roar the pink ones in a special order. When you're on the next to last island you can see two rhinos. Near the second there is a pink monkey which you have to roar. Then you must jump on the second rhino which will bring you up two a pink monkey in the tree. you roar the monkey. then you jump on the first rhino and get on the last island where you must roar the pink monkey in front of you. Now you have two go back to the next to last island and jump on the second rhino. it will bring you too a pink monkey in the tree which you have to roar. near to you is a beatle you can catch. last you have to roar the pink monkey near the ground which was the first you roar on this island. then you jump on zthe first rhino and get into the third level. ;) hope you get it! |

Do I need anything special to play this game, or will it work on my windows 7 without any game card?

There is a Windows version of this game that might work on 32-bit Windows 7 (I guess it uses some 16-bit executables which Windows 64-bit can't run). There is also a DOS version, you need the DOSBox emulator to play it. |
Help
How do I run this game on DOS-Box I have DOS box (I know how to get Wolf and Lion working). Also I use windows 8, can I have help on getting this game working on DOS-box?

Depending on what you have.....
Well depending on what game type you have you could do it two or three ways.
If you have the CD bought then you would mount like this after double clicking on DOSBox 0.74. mount c c:\ mount d d:\ -t cdrom d: dir /w/p Then look for one of the following files: Setup.exe Install.exe If you cannot find one of the above look for something along the line of the above. Sometimes it is the name of the game itself plus the exe at the ending. Or a bat at the ending. Once you've found one of the above just type what you found and the setup begins and you just follow the instruction on the screen. *** If you have a ISO copy of the game you could IMGMOUNT however I'm not that good at it. * If you have a zip folder you usually extract it to the C:\ directory and mount it. |
Quote:
Never mount the root of your system drive in DOSBox. That would allow the programs you run in DOSBox to access C:\Program Files and C:\Windows and possibly delete/modify files from those paths. Instead, create a folder for your DOS games and mount that as the C-drive in DOSBox: mount c "c:\dos games" |
