Little Big Adventure - Twinsens Adventure

Review |
Oh my god!
Can't but agree, this is the best game on the site. If you've never played it, go and download it NOW! Well, even if you have played it (as I have) go and download it (as I am doing at the present) I have completed the game once. I would have done it a second time too if the computer I back then owned wouldn't have broken (or to be exact, the hard drive which had LBA installed on). I think I'll try again to get the game beaten a second time. |
Thanks.
I uploaded the game today, because I am going away for a while... I can't say for how long, but it will be long until I see Abandonia again. So this game is my farewell gift to you abandonians out there. Bye  Hopefully I will see you soon.      |
My friend actually has got the full CD-version of LBA1, and LBA2, he's a total fan.
I love both games, especially LBA2. The first LBA doesn't have got too much variation in it and is a wee bit too difficult. But it is a classic nevertheless. Despite that I gave it a 5, I'd not claim it to be the best game on the site. The game is a nice memory of the times when someone could actually buy these kind of games. Nowadays it's just "tactical special force strike group alpha realistic espionage action" -bullshit. Or the same, but in WW2. Don't get me wrong, I love realistic action games, even those eye-candy first person shooters, but enough is enough. Games after all were meant to be an escape from the reality. And that's what the LBA series is. |

Hey man, you take care and come back soon. |
Holy Molly! I've been digging up this game for a long time
|
Hope this works...
I downloaded this once, but am not sure about the place... Any way, this is a nice game. The only problem I had with it was the saving system. I got so accustomed to it that did not save to other slots. When the game crashed (only time!) the game saved the new, non-working area as the place you were in...
The crash. It was in the Dr. F's Headquarters, after I had seen Twinsen's wife. I went to the house into which the painter-guy went, the screen went black, I could not exit and the game had saved: Doh! The last other save was in the desert I think... I never finished the game. Endoperez |
Oh come on, this is not THE BEST game of the site. X-Com was voted the best game in PC HISTORY on several other sites e.g. IGN.
|
I click Relent and some kind of a Instalation begins after 5 mins its done and I have to click Relent again and the game begins but all that I can see are vertical colorful lines. I'm runing the game in Windows XP. Is that alright? Please help. :(
|
The game wil ONLY run in DOSbox.
You can download it from our main site. :) This game will not run in any kind of windows dos-shell. Not even Windows 3.11! The only other option is Pure Dos 6.0 or higher. |
Hey! It works! Thank you! (I downloaded DOSbox a long time ago but I didn't know that I have to use it like that) But the game is realy slow. Is it meant to be so?
|
You can increase the speed in DOSbox by pressing CTRL + F12
|
Thanks again! :D
|
The game crashed when I tried to enter a new area. And now when I try to load the game it crashes too. Please help.
|
It seems that this *enter new area bug* occured (see earlier in this thread), and as the game is saved as you leave one area, your savegame seem to be corrupted. The only thing I can suggest there is to start new game and delete the old one... :(
|
i am so stoopid ( an i thought i was a pc genuis) how do i work dos-box???
?? |
is there supposed to be cutscenes?? last time i played it (without dosbox!) it worked but no sound ... and no cutscenes and i remember all them yrs back when i played the demo THERE WAS A CUTSCENE!!
|
Well, the game on this site seems to be the only playing version of it, and this one just doesn't play the movies, it ignores them somehow, so at least because of this reason they weren't included.
|
Thank you so much for adding this game. One of my all time favorites. I downloaded it as soon as I saw it on the site. The game worked perfectly with dosbox and I have nearly completed it after hours of playing with no problems at all - at least no technical problems. The only thing is I wondered if you know how to climb down ladders. When I played this years ago, I think there was a combination but I forget so I just fall down all the time. Silly nitpicky thing but I just thought I'd ask.
Again thanks so much - of all the games there are, this was the one I most wanted to play again. |
Just go into the default walking mode and press space. :D
|
Remember that the different modes have different actions ;)
You must be in the correct mode (walking in this case) :ok: |
I found this game quite annoying actually. It took me about 15 minutes to get out of my cell at the start, and when you go to walk somewhere it is delayed which caused more problems trying to get out of my cell at the start and then running away from the guards. So I gave up and moved onto 5 Days A Stranger and then 7 Days A Skeptic, which are very very good point and click adventure games you should put them up on the site so everyone can play them they deffinently worth it although they are quite short.
P.S. I may be getting off the topic a bit, but I needed an excuse to to bring up these two games I'm sorry. But I absolutly love them. :) |
the game is annoying to some extent, saving and loading are a pain in the a$$.
And besides that if you can't figure out what to do next, you can really go mad. In general though, it is a great game .......... does anyone know what's happened to the music? |
If you play the game in DosBox, there should be music. And it's much better in General Midi that Soundblaster's OPL2 or 3.
|
How come I can't hear the speech even though I downloaded the VOX files?
Any reccommended settings? |
Well this is it. Great choice. Excelent!!!!
Saving sys is little disturbing but you'll survive. EXCELENT ONE!!!! Tips: I remember that I had to play all over again when I finally get to the 3rd rock. Somewhere around some foretress there is a path but it is not very obvious. There was snow and ice all around. So don't just run away from that fortrees (I really explained, didn't I? :) ) but run around to find frozen lake. There you play flute if I remember corectly and you can fill empty dish or something with it. You need water for the 3rd stone and stone will crus the fortress. Not that fortress, the other one above and around the 3rd stone. When you read it like this it really makes sence :) Just wait untill you begin to attack with pirates. It is a little funny, but there is actuallu a battle going on and you are just one among them :) |
Why is this game so SLOOOOOOOW?
I've tried using CTRL+F11/12 to adjust the speed, but it doesn't make any difference. Anything else I need to change? (I'm using DOSbox through D-Fend under Windows XP) |
The game is slower than usual because it doesn't have a CD. This greatly decreases the speed. That doesn't bother me at least. Because I would rather play the game slow, than not being able to play it at all.
|
Hmm. So if I burnt all the game files to CD and ran it from there, would that make a difference?
|
If anything, everything on cd would make it slower with annoying spin-up/spin-down pauses. Having stuff on the hard drive always makes things faster.
I suspect you're using Dosbox .61 or lesser if you find it slow. The new Dosbox .62 makes leaps and bounds past its predecessors. It can play the most demanding of games at 10% CPU usage if you have a fast processor. Give it a download and pump your cycles to 15000. |
Hi,
I have a problem with that save-function. When I died, do I REALLY have to start from the beginning?? I tried this safe-copy point under F6 but when I load one of those saves I start at the beginning! I hope I missed the real save-feature, because the game seems to be nice but I die quite often and evrey 15min see that pretty cell is annoying... |
You cannot save the games yourself in the game. This is done automatically at certain points of the game. The first one should be when you leave your prison and arrive outside. If it's not there, just enter that junk truck and explore little around the town. Somewhere there the game should be saved then.
|
Im playing this game right now and I got stuck in Twinsen's house. Is there a key somewhere? and I dont understand if I need to hide in a specific place coz whenever i put twinsen on discrete mode and hide, i cant remove him from that status anymore.
|
Hi!
I have a bit of a problem. I cant make any of the games in here work on my computer. I downloaded the DosBox, but it didn't help at all. Do anybody have an advice for me?! Please help me. I played LBA for a long time ago, but i lost the disk, but not the lust for the game. Regards Opal. |
how to configure the sound and vidoe things at setup, if my kind of sound and so are newer than the ones that appear there?
thanks |
Jesus, I can't believe I forgot all about it.
I played it shortly after it came out (oh my god I'm so old!) and... well just in comparison to other games from the time, it was way superior in graphic and I think most modern games could learn a thing or two about efficiant programming. (I think it ran fluetnly on a 468/32Mhz). Really beautyfully made. |
I'm going to put this in here to save a troubleshooting thread. :D
I decided to find my original copy of this but keep getting the No CD error despite mounting my Cdrom in DosBox (mount d d:\ -t cdrom -usecd 0). Any ideas? :help: |
Yes, you cannot play the original game, not in DosBox, not in Windows 98. I got the same problem.
The only two solutions I can think of are - to play the version available on this site for download or to play the original game off CD on old 486 / Pentium in Ms-Dos, where it will run without problems. |
I found it! I FINALLY found it! After looking all over hell, I had given up on ever finding Relentless.
First saw this game on a PC-Gamer cd, just the demo version. You'd get so far and the game'd be over. Hail to Abandonia, which has damn near everything I've wondered about, including, but not limited to, the first game in the Legacy of Kain series... Wonder if we've got Legacy of the Ancients... |
I cannot run the game, it says msomething like "Sound Hardware not found"
:ranting: Thanks Juan |
How do you save the bleedin' game? I swear I've pressed every button on this keyboard whilst playing the game and I still don't know how to save it.
If you install Virtual PC, and create a PC with just MS-DOS and LBA installed, that'll let you play the game with sound if your PC is too new to handle it. :D |
Can someone help me ? When I try to play it, the game loads to the Adeline screen but then it goes back to dosbox and says: Not Enough Memory: HQR_Anims (SEE README TEXT)
PS: I dont get any wiser of the readme text |
Why does the game become black when I get in the garbagetruck just outside the prison in the beginning, and then doesn' t continue? I' m aware of that the films does not play, but shouldn't something happen after that? It seems like everybody got farther than I did.

Auto-Save in such a kind of game?
A little bo funny, isn it? Yeah, but there's nothing to do aginst that! |
As with Roman on page two, I can't figure out how to get the speech files to work. I think I can handle missing the cutscenes though... (maybe) I have the VOX folder in the correct folder, and I read the readme which says I should go in setup and change speech language to english, but there is no option for that. I also have another smaller problem of the music being far too loud in relation to the effects, and adjusting the volumes in-game does not work so if someone can tell me how to do it that would be great.
Running on DOSbox in case it helps. |
Okay I don't play game much anymore but when Relentless came out I played it to death and I can tell you why this game just 'works':
o First-rate musical score o An appealing main character you will sympathize with o An edgy, charged and suprisingly sinister universe The score for LBA is so good, I ripped it back then and I've been listening to it regularly for a decade. An absolute classic. |
If no one knows how to get the VOX files to work, could anyone just send me the full version of the game with speech and cutscenes? I'd greatly appreciate it.
|
Doesn't ANYONE know how to get the VOX files to work? This game is only 50% without the speech in it, as that was what really made me fall in love with it.
|
:wall: i can't get the sound to work. period... i've tried running it in dosbox and with vdmsound. any ideas?
|
:OOOOOOOOOOOO
I had this game when i was a little child. I didn't speak english and I hated this game because it was trully difficult for me withotu knowing english... *_* i will play it now... |
Does any one know how to advance after you get out and down the hill in the first level
|
Maybe I'm just blind but help me out here...
After the garbage truck dumps you and you go around inspect the rabbits house get out, continue south you get to a heatch that leads back into the prison. What sewer is there to find ? I'm totally stuck  |
Quote:
Then again, EVERYTHING does :D This is the first site where I've found the in-game voices of LBA... thanks a lot for that :Brain: |
Quote:
|
Hmm.. seems it only works with VDMSound is you use LBAWIN. Maybe that should be added to the download...
Gregor... you need to go to your house first to meet up with Zoe and get your tunic so you can use magic. Not to mention the house is fullll of money :D And that is West. The docks are north :P I can't get the voices to work though :( |
Oooh I love the LBA series, the graphics are outstanding (and cute too). But I can't help wondering why LBA 2 was so much less mature and so much easier to play. I found the first part much more of a challenge, and thus more fun.
Anyway, a straight 5, and shame on those who voted less for this game! ;) |
Hmm, problem i'm having is i get to the initializing such and such screen, then it sits there. forever. Any tips?
|
Sorry, not registered so can't edit, but it DOES change colour a few times.
|
I bought this off the shelf when it was full price and found this site because I was SEARCHING FOR IT! One of the greatest games ever.
|
I have the cutscenes in the game :) I simply installed it from original CD,
then downloaded rip version from abandonia and overwritten the files. CD mounting is done with Code:
mount D "E:\" - t cdrom -ioctl -label ADELINE However, I have a problem with sound. The game starts, Adeline logo has sound, intro (Twinsen flying on the dragon) has sound, menu background has no sound (and the menu itself doesn't show), and then game crashes. If "no sound" is chosen in the setup utility, all works fine (in a sad sad silence). Any ideas? |
I am writing from 2005. :D
I've just played LBA2 and am currently purchasing LBA. It is the best game ever. A real sense of nostalgia hit me when i started playing it. It's a long shot, but does anyone use this forum anymore? |
Quote:
|
umm you're purchasing a abandonware game? Or did you mean you're purchasing LBA2?

What is abondonware anyway? |

I' ve got lba1 now! it's really cool. i like the story line, its a lot more exciting than lba2. i haven't got very far, my only problem with it is that it takes me about ten turns to be able to work out what to do! (i don't like using walkthroughs :bleh: ) has anyone else had this problem? |
i suppose i'm stupid but whatever i try, i get no sound.
downloaded the dos-box, eventhough the game did play on my xp, downloaded the vox - files, the vdmsoundpatch... :help: lba2 was the first real game i ever bought, now i recently found lba1 on this site, so... i want to play it and i want to hear the sounds! i want it and i want it now! :D |

have LBA 1 on CD and found a patch to get it working.
LBA WIN can be downloaded from http://lbawin.akoonet.com/ I don't know if it works on the Adbandonware version. |
completed LBA1 5 mins ago! What a game!
The plot is cool, and despite the old graphics, the gameplay's awesome. :ok: I couldn't get sound though, and I'm not sure whether i was supposed to get video sequences. Is there supposed to be a video sequence at the end when Sendell talks to Twinsun, or is it just a dialogue box and no moving pictures? |
I downloaded the game and got it running but after the written speech it just goes off and returns to what i was on before.
Help! |
LBA wa designed by someone called Frederick Raynal who also designed Alone in the Dark 1. Although Alone in the Drak 1 is not as good as LBA it is worth playing and can also be downloaded as abandonware from http://www.abandonia.com/games/91/Al...the_Dark_1.htm
|
a classic of its own. played it on playstation one. it was a really fantastic gameplay, good voice, and a fantastic journey at all!! Get it!
|
Does anybody know how to make speach files (VOX directory) works? I followed instruction file but it doesnt work. I have FX sound but speach is missing. Help !!! :)
Best regards Poland twinsun@ny.pl thank you |
Even if you don't like adventure games you should try this one. Usually I just hate adventure games but Little Big Adventure is a real unique treasure. Try it! You have nothing to lose (if 8mb and few minutes aren't counted).
|
I just got the game as well and fired it up with Dosbox...seems to run fine, but i don't get speech or sound effects. there is music every once in a while and i have music in the menu. i downloaded that speech pack and put it in the vox folder, but don't get speech. I really want to play with sound....still no one knows at all?
|
i just thought i'd let you know that i've got lba2. it comes in one of those old cdrom classics boxes. i don't think you can download it, but my best bet would be to try ebay. Good luck
|
I've been looking for Little Big Adventure for ages. I have LBA2 on cd, and I play it at least once a year. But I can't seem to find the first one anywhere...
I believe I have found a winzip file (lba.zip) which should contain the game. Yet, I'm unable to get the game started. Who can help me? What am I doing wrong? I really want to try LBA one! |
I still have LBA on CD but I never got it too work... maybe I'll try it out again. It was a great game when it came... dunno if it still is.
|
LBA1 and LBA2 are definetely classics. :kosta:
Its a shame LBA3 is not made. Some classics die after a time no matter what... :blow: |
I dusted off my LBA-CD to try this game out again. I put it in Dosbox but I only get as far as to seeing the intro thing of Adeline Software. After that, the game exits to Windows. What's wrong?
|
It is almost impossible to get the original game on the CD to run anywhere on new PC's. It needs pure Ms-Dos and slower PC. The only way is to download the game off this site (without the videos, though) and it runs well in DosBox. :)
|
The only way is to play the game on older PC, and only through Ms-Dos with old graphics card, those that had yet 1-8MB RAM and no 3D acceleration, and old Soundblaster, like Soundblaster 16. There's really no way to play it under just about any Windows version, even under Windows 95 only in Dos-mode, and not under Windows 98 or XP at all. And no way to play it under DosBox, it seems...
|
Hey if you want power up to your maximum, get the items hidden on
the screen, then simply exit the room, and re-enter. The items should reappear. |
The greatest game i`ve ewer played on any platform...
|
Seek for lbawin at magicball network, theirs some links to where to download lbawin. the main lbawin site is not working
THIS IS MUCH BETTER THAN DOSBOX im to lazy to give links, just googleseek magicball network |
Classic game. I absolutely love it. Used to spend all my time with it when I was younger.
The sequel is even better :D |
This game is an exceptional piece of ART.
When I first played this game back in 1995, I was thoroughly engrossed with my grandfather in it, and even to this day, I have never stumbled across a game as powerful and emotional as this. I look forward to showing my unborn children this game in many many years to come. Beautiful atmosphere, orchestral and visuals. This game makes me weep, to think so many people are oblivious to it even existing. Theres nothing old about it even to this day, it will be a piece of art forever. Im even hesitating to rename my company after it in respect. There apparently was talk of a sequel, LBA 3, but that was back in 2001. I read today it was schedueled to start in 2003 and take 1-2 years. Well, I don't know whats happened to Adeline->No Cliche -> vanished??? I hope others can discover the beauty and feel the goosebumps that it brings as well. :ok: |
Quote:
Earlier people on this site tried anything to get the game to run, and managed it finally to get a version that worked in DosBox, and now that this version isn't downloadable, you can forget playing the game from the CD unless you call an old 486er from earlier your own, which isn't so easy to get these days anymore in completely working state. So much for playing the game. Many thanks to a certain company for caring so much (not!) about people's wishes to play a classic game... |
Quote:
|
Didn't you read above? The game detects on hardware level the chip of the graphic card, and DosBox doesn't emulate any of the older graphic cards or doesn't fool the games into believing that there is a graphic card that they search for, so the game can't detect any graphic card. It isn't an issue with the CD drive.
|
Yeah....this is the legendary game wich never dies..... :Brain:

The only way I know of is to play it in pure Dos on older 486er or early Pentium, with one of the older 2D graphic cards. On the new-generation PC's it doesn't run at all, not even in DosBox. There might be some patch or similar for the game to run on newer PC's, but I don't know of any.

If you own an original CD version it will not run under XP though in most cases it should work fine with Windows 95 or 98.
The solution to playing LBA in Dosbox - with the original cd is as follows (Most of this is taken (with slight editing) from http://el-muerte.student.utwente.nl/lba/fo...read.php?t=6943): Quote:
If you are having problems with LBA2 - which isn't compatible with modern graphics chips then there is a patch available from http://www.geocities.com/e_swensen/ that you may find useful - though I can't get it to work on my copy. |

Im stuck in this room and can't go anywhere. Can you help me? http://www.hot.ee/iirammarii/twinsen.jpg |
Try to jump while standing at the grate. Or climb the "hills" if possible.
|
Cmon dudes...
LBA 1 and LBA2 are THE BEST GAMES ever !!!! The history, the graphic, and the songs are simply perfect !!! It took me AGES but i finnaly got the FULL VERSION of lba.. (on a WAREZ site) It`s a pity that the site cant be access nowadays coz its for selling =( Argh... But don`t surrender !! :P PS: For the ones that really want to get them but have no clues about how to find them try to search on .iso format (after u get, ull have to install a specific program (i dun remember the name of it) that simulate a driver on ur computer, then ull have to transfer the .iso file to there) PS2: looking for the PSX version (LBA).. =[ |
Hi
Sorry to bother you, but I have a small problem. I run the game with dosbox, it starts like it should: music starts etc. then it just pops back to "dos", music doesn't stop, but nothing happens. There's just Initialising midi device... ... Initilaising SVGA device... ... No errors or anything other out of ordinary. I'm not using dosbox first time or anything, I just haven't never occur a problem like this. I'd really appriciate if someone can help me. Thanks |
yeah, im also having the problem as someone above; as soon as i enter the garbage truck outside the building in which you begin, the screen goes black and stays that way. how do i fix this?
nevermind, i found that playing the game on dos box fixes this problem. |
Fortunately, I already have this game.
I came across LBA2 first. Then I later managed to get LBA1. Best adventure game ever! :w00t: Certainly, I have games like Rayman 1, 2 and 3, Age of Empires II, Sonic Heroes and Tomb Raider, but... Little Big Adventure is the only true adventure game I know of that, while following a linear storyline, allows the player to explore endless avenues of possibilites. Unlike my other games, where we just go around killing bad guys, picking things up and generally just proceeding through the 'levels', LBA has no actual levels - the islands are treated more as locations that you can go to anytime, once you have the means to get there. The game offers you the chance to talk to people and solve puzzles systematically. Bottom line is, if you haven't got the game already, you ought to buy it. I recommend it! :D |

-->Best Adventure Game Ever Yet you're right, LBA is so great. |
Alan here. (www.myspace.com/killwize)
This game is Awesome. I have the CD and box still! I herd that they might make a new one. If you want to play it on Windows the best solution is LBAwin. (http://lbawin.akoonet.com/) I remember the first time I played it. I was hooked. I remember thinking how great it was, It actually reads the text to you... in a very oddly cheerful voice! The game is so lush with adventure. At times its very hard but always rewording. And the Graphics still hold up even to todays standards. The music is Top notch. (Actually CD quality!) I'm going to play this game Again now. If you have questions My profile is at myspace.com/killwize Check it out. |
Hi guys!
Anybody could help me? I got stuck in the temple of sacred bu at the point where you have to avoid the rolling log running after you by jumping the gaps in the floor. When you fall down there's no way to rise up again... When you eventually arrive in the room with the bouncing "eyes" and the lines of statues spitting fireballs, which is supposed to be the last room before rising to the starting point again, the door is closed, there are neither keys nor switches to flick. It's frustrating indeed!!! Thanks!!! |
If you fall down, load the last saved game and you're before the road down with the rolling log again. Just don't fall down, ok? Run fast and agile and jump over the holes quickly so that the log doesn't reach you. Could take few tries, but not impossible.
If you fall down, there's a relative long way back to that running way above. Not hard to find, though. |

Help please, I'm going mad.
I have the red card for the museum on Proxima Island and went in. I got thrown in prison before I lowered the grill to the sewer and now the gate to the museum has been locked. How can I get in? |
Question: Why the game cannot be downloaded from Abandonia?
Hypothesis: For some reason, distributing copies of it might be forbidden. Question: If that is forbidden, how about download links? Answer: Obviously, any form of distributing illegal copies of this game is forbidden, and this includes linking to other places where downloads are available. |
OK. If I cant download it dose any one know a place where I can buy 1 or 2. Preferably both
|
If we knew of a place selling LBA, there would be a "BUY IT" icon instead of "ESA: NO GO" one.
You may want to start by checking this list, followed by looking on your local Ebay or its equivalent. |
OK,i finally found this game after a lot of searching...this is definitely one of the best games EVER along with LBA2...
i have a problem starting it though....After starting LBA.exe or LBAWIN.exe with DOSBox i get the music from the game and some kind of test for video, sound card etc...it's like the black screen with "Testing...etc etc etc" and music from the game in the backgroung....i tried everything and I waited a long time for these "tests" to finish but nothing changes...So what should I do? Please answer me fast because I cant wait to play this amazing game :D ...and sorry for the n00b question :) |
Heh, LBA... many sweet memories. I was amazed the world it have, it was the first game I played that have sense of a huge world that lives on. European games are so much different from others, there are few of them but those are really outstanding. LBA is definetly one of those. At first it looks very childish but soon that veil of cute cartoonish style starts to fall down as you realize how characters actually represent some persons in real world. Unique game - unique gaming experience. This game is a must-see for everyone who enjoy high computer gaming art and doesn't stick to mediocre self-clones.
|
so...anyone have the solution for my problem?
|
Try starting LBAWIN in Windows. If that doesn't work, use Compatibility Modes.
|
It works now...I got some patch and I typed PATCH P NOVESA in DOSBox and it's working fine...it seems i was having trouble with video card :)
|
Hey again dont know if you found my other note I sure cant find it
I said before that I was having trouble starting the game up well i sorted that out now I have the CD and installed it stright from there, then used Dos Box to do the setup and run the game. Unfortunately, Broadster, his post was written before a visit from ESA forced the removal of many great games from the site. This game was one of the casualties.

Look at this icon and think about what it might mean.
http://www.abandonia.com/themes/abandonia/nogo.gif Reading through the sticky threads in the forum surely would have helped you to understand, too. |
where can i dowload it?????

Google. 10 characters
|
You can't.
It's ESA, which means you can't download it. |

Got this on cd way back. Use to have the box, as well as Magic Carpet 2. Only the magic carpet 2 instructions remain and the cd and jewel case of LBA.
I nearly finished it on PSX (which is inferior to the PC version), I got to Funfrocks Fortress and didn't do too much there, IIRC. The start of the game is brilliant. |
One of my favorites
Without any doubt, one of the best games ever!!! An absolutley "must play game".
I think I have played this game for weeks, maybe even months. And not just once. My rate would be 98% out of 100% , at least :) |
need help.. i'm new and i don't know how..
can someone hel me? i've play this game (LITTLE BIG ADVENTURES) once, but i really want to play this game.. but i don't know how to get this game.. can i get if for free? thanks.

You can't download it legally, it's still copyrighted. Go and buy the game on eBay, for example.
|
Quote:
that have permission to upload and let the public download it. |
Quote:
Except there is no site with one. All of them are spreading this game illegally. Some claim it was released as freeware, but that's not true either. Stop believing everything you read on illegal sites, none of them have any reason to tell you the truth. Think, does it sound better when they tell you "we've got permission from the authors so you can download this game" or if they told you "we never got a permission - in fact never bothered to ask for one - and have put this game for download illegally", eh? Also remember that the only people who can disprove their claims of having the permission are the copyright owners, who don't neccesarily have to be aware of these sites. |
they can also aprove and can be aware of them.
|
Hi!
Please tell me how and where I can download this game?!? don't see any download button anywhere on games page :( Link for download please ... Yours, Jacobe |
you can not, it's protected and/or sold
|
Why does it say no go when i want to download?
sry didnt look good |
you don't bother looking up 1 post, i don't bother not calling you an idiot
|
where can I this game dowloand
|
hey look another one
|
Not here.
This game is either still sold or protected by the copyright owner. We cannot offer it for download, we cannot tell you where you could find an illegal copy... and we cannot send you a copy either. If we did any of that, Abandonia could end up in serious trouble - which is neither in your nor our interest. |
for those who have problems in getting the speech or fx to work, here is what i did to get it working (DosBox 0.72):
1. after you copy the VOX folder (the one that u unzip) into the LBA directory, run setup.exe which is in the game folder. 2. select english as the language. 3. then select the music sound card and choose Sound Blaster 16 (OPL3) and select your SB 16 base address. you can also choose Gravis Ultrasound but I somehow experienced sound glitches when using it. 4. then select FX sound card configuration and do as above. 5. after that select the speech configuration and make sure that the spoken language is English. 6. finally, select save parameters. exit to dos and then type relent and press enter. you should be able to hear music, speech and sound fx throughout the game.. |
downloadable???
Is this game downloadable? I don't see a link anywhere :(

Just use ebay. I don't think it's that hard to find a cheap copy of the game and it's well worth it. The CD music is brilliant.
|
I have to say, I am quite sad that it isn't available for download. I recently found this site and downloaded a few titles from my younger years and because i lost the copy of this fabulous game, as well i hoped to find a free copy here. :perv:
Oh well, :mhh: looks like its ebay for me, and that ain't so bad :) thanks abandonia for trying  |
LBA 2
I'm looking to find the sequal to this game. Anyone know where I might be able to come by Twinsen's Odyssey?

The protection on this game has now expired. :OK:
Go and download it! |
Hello,
I'm trying to download this game but when clicking on the link I get this message: The file you wanted to download does not exist Please report to the site manager. Even other games which have been unprotected today have the same problem (maybe all of them?) |
Should be working now, same with the other games.

Yes. Thanks again ;)

The game is no starting. DosBox is initializing the sound and vgs drivers but thats it.
I'am using DosBox 0.73 on Linux Mint Helena 8.0 |

What are you doing? You have to tell us what you are doing so we know what is wrong. Tell us your mount lines, everything. |

I startet the setup.exe in the LBA folder and I have chosen the SoundBlaster Pro as sounddriver. After saving the settings I went back to dos and startet the relent.exe. That's about it. |
@Muntu: I have the same problem but I use Windows. Try to start the game without the VOX folder. Works fine for me. Kinda lame to play the game without the voices :(
|
That would imply incorrect configuration of the sound card in the game's setup.
|
this game is absolutely fabulous!
the thing i like more about this part then the second is that LBA is more difficult and kind of more mature and "dark". LBA2 is still awesome though |

This game sucks because of the saving-system, and "seek-die-do it" playing style.
You go to a certain distance, then a new situation comes, what you have no idea about, so you die, then you have to start ALL OVER from the VERY BEGINING. Not worth the time it requires. |
Quote:
|
Ok, now it is clear that this game is one of the biggest failures in gaming history!
I tell you why: - the graphic is ok, but nothing exciting - the screen-allocation sucks. With all the moving NPCs you have to constantly manually re-allocate the screen centering yourself (hit ENTER). - saving sucks. Here is how to do it: 1) save the game with any title ("MAIN" for this example) 2) go to the place from where you want a backup-save and "copy" the save there (use F6 to call up the manu you need) 3) keep playing 4) if you want to (or have to) reload, first quit (to the main game-menu, easiest with hitting Esc and choosing quit), then delete "Main", then reload the file you want, then save the game as "MAIN" again 5) continue playing. - NPCs respawn IF they are not key-charaters AND they are not done with their purpose. Same true for items. - NPCs are mostly useless, and friends can not be distincted from foes until they shoot. And to "kill" friends is profitating, and as you have absolutly no relations to any NPC ... Basically: you'll try to play doom. Sadly there are unwoundable enemies - that also turns out only when you start attacking them. - some enemy can one-shot you. - whenever you die IF you have fortune-clovers, you loose one. But fortune-clovers are bloody rare, and are supposed to be used as healing kits while you are alive. - the whole game is BORING. You don't know what to do, with what to do it etc., and if you go the wrong direction you simply die most of the times. - the game is not hard, nor require any brain-activity. It just require "try, die, now you know it". |
You don't play many puzzle style games do you. I bet Abe's Odyssey would bore the hell out of you too.
|
Quote:
I've played Atomix and Shokoban, and I liked them for making me use my brain. I've played The Summoning and The amazing Spider Man, and I totally liked both. THIS game has neither charm nor cleverness on the other hand. |
Hmm..
[quote=twillight;THIS game has neither charm nor cleverness on the other hand.[/quote]
Even Y correct, dear twillight, I will try to start this game, because this game versus endless dark corridors of Daggerfall or Fallout is very clear and color. It brings me to my early years. Childish:hihihi: But I totally agree with Y concerning saving system, which is let say stupid.. Plz, I do not wanna start any discussion like --Who is first - The egg or hen? yog the adventurer :hello: |
yog the adventurer
:bleh1:
Wow! Very difficult are even the first steps. One has to be very experienced with the Twinsen moving and this 4 playing modes-!! I have to kill second guard in the left before start alarm button!!No, I will trick the guard dressing same uniform and then kill him. Ha ha ha:whistling: |
If you played any game what requires intens use of shortcut-buttons (finally some use of Diablo 2:idea:), this game is a joke to handle.
Btw, some early hints, then some questions (this being a bad game by design doesn't mean I won't play it, as it is not THAT bad, and the save feature can be circumwent): - to start JUMP on your bed. I noticed the platform with the guard arrives this way almost imediatelly. - the two guards at the other and of the platform are joke-easy. - for the next guard RUN. - you don't have to kill the guard in the sideroom, but he do drops a random thingy (life or $) if you do. - stupid thing is, if you press F1-4 AND press left/right, the left-right affects the choice of mode. Another frustrating part. Some early hints with slight spoiler: - killing guards IS possible, so you can fight your way out if you really feel that way. - all random guards do drop a random thingy (life or $, maybe mana too on later islands?) if you kill them. - random NPCs most of the time do not drop anything. Still, the bunny what comes out of the tavern drops 3 $ if you kill it (and it respawns). Heck, it isn't worth it considering the sewers. - do not go into water. The protaginst is drowned there without chance to escape. - the magic ball can be thrown different ways depending on current mode set (most difference if you use discrete mode, then the ball is thrown artillery mode). - at the pharmacy you do not need the magic ball. You can RUN to the pharmacyst, kill it, then immediatelly run out of the shop (if you are slow the elephant can block your way). Then going back the shop eliminates the elephant, so you can loot freely. QUESTIONS: - there is a robot about which the elephant says "forbidden to use". Any way to jump into it? - is there a way to get back inside the protagnist's house once I leave it? - what is the use of mana? I do not need mana to use the magic ball. - will I be able to enter later into the caves below the protagonist's house? - possible bug: according to the design you should first find the magic ball, then re-enter via a ventillation-hole or something into the Asylum. You'd arrive that way inside the room with the elephant, and I assume kill the elephant, open the room's door from inside, and THEN aquire the holomap. I did get the holomap instantly of course, and when after getting the magic ball entered this room the elephant was gone, and the door was locked. I think this is a bug. - clover leaves: on the starting island if you kill the barricaded guard in the middle you get 6 (and he respawns). On the second island above the prison you can find clovers in a barell (guarded by immortal elephant, but still). Currently I try to figure out what to do on the second island. |
?
Q: May I use (have I) the magic ball - some like boomerang- and if Yes, how?
Q2: Is very far from the beginning the first Save point? Q3: How strong is Tw. in the beginning , in the middle and end of the game, plz? ty:whistling: |
Quote:
Q2: there is NO save point. If you do not mind loosing equipments (temporarily? not sure) you might go with the game's system (it autosaves your position whenever you enter a new area /the screen goes black/, but when you die you suffer equipmentloss), or better: save your game as I described above. Saving as described is considerable also because at 0 clovers you get a Game Over screen, and will no longer be able to resurrect. Q3: without the magic ball you can beat up nurses, bunnies, simple soldiers (if they don't start shooting) and the weakest elephants (if you are lucky). With 1st level magic (aka. having the Magic Ball) you can beat up auto guards (the thingy on the first island), robot bunnies (learn to time your shots) and second level elephants (they are golden/yellow colour I think). There is at least 2 upper level elephants, a tank, robots and machine guns what I could not damage yet. New annoying thing: you can travel with land-vehicles. But could someone tell me why each vehicle can bring me only 1 destination on the SAME island? This is the most annoying thing until now: you enter White Desert with a cutsceen, do a conversation, then drawn accidentaly what has an unskippable animation too, then the arriving cutsceen nd the conversation happens again (unskippable of course), then you do the reload procedure, suffer the arriving-cutsceen and converstaion AGAIN... And it is sooooo easy to drawn here... I check the walkthrough for this, as it is uber-ridiculous. Also a map would be useful... EDIT: Tips for yoga about the Temple: - when you have to run and jump from a rolling log, you ony have time for TWO jumps. So plan your route accordingly. - when 3 platform have to be set to reach a higher level, do NOT step on the rute between the switches on the poles and the platforms. Doing that makes the platform change as you'd touch the switches. |
To yoga (the previous post started to be too long):
Magic Level 2 makes you really strong. I could only not kill these: tank, white-blue elephants (refered as supergrobo), fully-covered machinguns. I also saw out of range red elephants. Money: the fastest point I've found is killing the Librarian while looking for the Legend (before the Temple). Its cash-machine gives 25 $ at the cost of killing a military from a totally safe place, and this situation respawns. Being healed: after a point hearts simply not heal enough. So instead find some clovers, heal yourself by using a clover from your backpack, then pick up the newly found clovers. Bugs: - NPCs sometimes have route-finding problems. Lucky us :) - I managed to get stuck once in an opening (closing?) door. I could not move any way, no chance to get unstuck, and no NPC bothered that I'm there. Ugh. QUESTION: walkthroughs talks about a "cofee pot" what is needed to get "envelope about cloverfield sites" what is needed to "open secret door near the exhibits of the museum to rech the roof of the museum where you find a clover". Question is: where to find the "coffee pot"? |
TY
TY,twillight, for nice comments and advices.
Yesterday I played the game and reached the moment when I met my girlfriend. OK. I followed the saving procedure but something was wrong and the stupid saving system back me to the start point again... Just before the police elephant to arrest me and my girl. Rats..... (I do not see the magic ball on my breast). It is normal or I have to find it? I see You played the game also but You are many steps ahead. :smile2: How to know my HP? Its very important to me.. |
Quote:
So, first the saving procedure again (write this up ona note, stick it on the monitor or something): 1) start the game - this means you'll have a save. Call it "MAIN" for this example. 2) assume you reach a point where you want a backup. Hit F6, choose copy save. Let's call this "BACKUP" for this example. 3) you mess thing up, so you want reload. hit Esc and QUIT. You'll see the main menu of the game. 4) choose "messing with saves" (or whatever its name is), choose DELETE saves. DELETE the MAIN file. 5) choose COPY SAVES. Make a copy from the "BACKUP", call it "MAIN". 6) reload MAIN. Tell if it is not clear / not working, we'll figure out. Second: yes, it is normal to loose the equipments you aquired on the currently visited island during the current visit. You have to solve the puzzles again. I had to re-buy certain items too for he same reason. Controlls (full list on what I know of): F1-F4: behaviour of protagonist F5: zoom (useless function) F6: shortcut to save menu Esc: you can quit to main menu Enter: you use items from your inventory with this Alt: shoot magic ball Space: action button (in discrete mode if you hit it you remain crouched until yu hit another button, no need to keep button down) Ctrl: status bar (health, mana - I still don't see any difference between 0 mana and positive mana -, clovers etc.) direction-buttons Magic Level 3: I could not hurt the robobunny in the museum (and I did not try the other machine-guards, all might be unvulnerable per se), could not hurt machine-gun towers (might be unvulnerable per se), but could destroy tank and red elephants. White-blue elephants are still untuchable. Magic level 4 (final): You can hurt supergrobos when you must, and they switch from sleeping pill to lethal weapon. Machinegun-towers are untuchable. Found out mana: if you have mana, then the magic ball can bounce. That's it. All babble about it being "stronger and more precise" are lies. This effect starts to be useful only from magic level 3 (higher maximum mana, stronger ranged enemies, easier access to clovers). Finally I've found a cool moment: the Seal in the White Desert (3rd island). I realised this is a french game, and remembered a similar one, called Time Machine. It was very similar to this, but had much more fireworks then this, and less arcade-oriented unlike this (the engine is not good in arcade, let's face it). I liked Time Machine (even the insanely difficult rock-throwing sidequest), but LBA is still only an ok game. EDIT: possible bug: I atacked the fortress on Principle island (the 2nd island) as I have both keykard. I've aquired the key to unlock the door on the top too, but the door remained closed. Well, maybe I have to gather the info from Tipple island before this'll work. Darn the long trips! |
Quote:
I think Alone in the Dark1,2,3 was also French game, but really was nice game. I did 3 times game to moment when 2 elephants arrested me and my girl. And game just back me to the beginning point!!! Thats my complain.. I am very upset and angry.. I, the brave yoga who beat lord Xeen, Diablo, lord Ravenloft, Doom 2 32-th level, Master now was arrested by 2 elephant?!?? Unbelievable!! Rats..! crying and upset yog sob..sob :dislike: |
Quote:
Btw, Alone in the Dark was different category compared this game, so it doesn't count. (And I could never jump back from the roof as puma at a point in A3 :omg:.) Until then here are the secret places where the Horn will be useful: - S-seals: cave under protagonist's house, White Desert (must open this), 2nd island (on the east), at Eclipse Stone, Teleportation Center, FF's Fortress, Well of Sedel - FF's statues: 2nd island's bazaar (150 $!), garden on the 1st island Bug? In Tipet Island's sewers on route to the Dino-fly if you kill the crab the game freezez out! I could get pass the crab to the dino by using jetpack, but coming back is impossibe! To get back to the town of Tipet Island, go to the Himalaya, and come from there by the boat. Walkthroughs says I'd have to climb on the back of the crab, but... GAME OVER for me. Lethal bug. I can not enter the fortress on Principal Island (the second island). I go to the fortress, manage to reach the redkeycard-door, open it, run in, face the two red elephant, put down the meca-pinguin, kill the robot-rabbibunny and then the supergrobo through the fence by throwing MagicBall in discrete mode. I open the bluekeycard-door, pick up the key the supergrobo thrown, and try to enter the FF-door. The key is used up, but the doors do not open. :sos: |
Quote:
Poor twillight, Let's ask the Masters Scatty and Kmonster for help to enter Fortress? Agree? If this is lethal bug really, try LBA2. I think it is more peaceful game. I played 2 minutes yesterday LBA2, after my fail. I will send a detailed report for all my action from beginning to f****d moment of my and my girl arrest. OFF A friend of mine infporm me for a nice game named Dragon age, but I dunno my PC hardware will give me chance to play it. 1Ghz, 1GB Ram, 64 MB video card and 160 GB HDD, 22" Monitor All our life is a game. yoga the brave gamer:OK: |
Quote:
Other possibility is, that someone with the iso version will help me out if no luck in case the bug only relates to the cutted abandonia-version (but I trust the dedicated Abandonia-co.). 2) Do not send what you do while playing. Only tell what you do when you try to reload. Btw., to hide from the investigators in the protagonist's house run in, run to the rooms in the left, stand next to a furnitrue and the wall, enter discrete mode, hit space. They'll bring the girl, but they'll not find You. (At least that's where I hided.) 3) If you need system-req about any game, just search it up on the net. Review-pages most of the time include specifications. |
Quote:
BTW I playing no-AB version of LBA1. NO CD required. Just press on executive file Lbawin and game on. Maybe when I reach yr problem point I will be more happy and enter this fortress? ..A seconds before invesigators arrived in my house (2 elephants) I, following the advise of a friend and try to save my game.. But when I try to start the game again, it back me to start point - the jail. Now I will try to follow yr advise and report again. (LBA2 has a save option..) Some ill Dinofly is the beginning of this game. More calm, no fight in the start.. |
Quote:
But as I said: tell me what exactly you do to reload a position. And no need to go as far as the protagonist's house. Just get out from the starting building. To learn how to save, that is the earliest place to use. All other strougle is unnecessary and time-consuming. If you want to help me before abandonia solves the issue, in the Troubleshooting section of abvandonia I've posted the savegame file and all other info where I got stuck. Download the file, get pass the door, and finally upload the file for me to download. |

Yes, I want to help you, as You help me so much in other games, esp. in F2. I will try to check yr rar file in my game. Danke. :hihihi: |
Solution of the bug:
you have to open BOTH (or at least the right one, not tested) red keycard-doors FROM THE FRONT (aka. south). Then, and only then opens the FF door. Another bug: On Brundle Island I entered the painter's home, and when I tried to exit, the game did quit. Another bug: if you pick up the Architect-IDcard before talking with the architect, he won't tell you the clues. I wonder if yoga can save properly now. Anyway, more tips: - after enterng the Burg, do not forget to buy another meca-pinguin! - the biggest quest is the attack of the Himalaya. You start from the Rebel Island, then you HAVE TO go a large way on the Himalaya: help the rebels to reach the tank, then freeing the rebel leader, then snowboarding, then saving the rabbit-village from the immediate atack (don't forget to check on the east for another rabbit-in-trouble), then destroying the mutant-factory! Then, and only then will you be able to go freely wherewhere you want. - when you go first to the Himalaya DO HAVE the Blue KeyCard! That'll mean you can free the elf at the station, what will replenish your clovers all the time you visit him again (at the rabbit hole he'll stand). - travel from the Himalaya: you'll find a boat on this hemispehere, and it'll dock at the Holy Carrot. On that same screen you'll be able to find the DinoFly too. After you disable the mutant factory when you'll arrive from the starting hemispehere, you'll find a guard outside at the gate of the mutant factory - he'll drop a key to open the fence outside, so you won't have to attack the pirson of the rebel leader again (pfuh!). - you can skip the animation of travel on the worldmap by pressing Esc (meh, I find this when I no longer need) - the MagicBall has an untold function: if there isa smal key on the screen, when you throw the ball it picks it up for you (it even goes through walls) - the sword IS a good weapon if you can get close enough. You can attack with it although only in normal and agressive mode. In athletic mode if you try to attack with the sword in your hand the protaginist makes a backflip (beats me why not forward at least). Also the sword can not be put away just by selecting it again: you have to click on the magic ball to change things back. - In the teleportation center when the screen is red, you will hold your sword, can't change equipment. With the sword I could NOT kill the scientist on the left with the computers, so I had to run in, kill him, kill the clone coming after me, run up to the teleportation devices, kill the scientist while hoping the new clone won't kill me during that, then kill the new clone. So have maximum clovers here, and go back to the elf after the fight! EDIT. the ending IS crappy. The way it is done would only be ok for a freeware, but it is even stupidly done, so this game is BAD. I give 2 from 5, because there are some very little amount of good points in the game (mostly the parts with the elf). |

Hello there,
I just want to let you know that Little Big Adventure 1 & 2 are now available on DotEmu.com! Those two famous games of the 90s are 100% compatible with modern PCs and come with tons of bonuses. We are also working on a mobile version for the end of the year ;) |

Hi, dear Jessica, thank You for the info. Yes, LBA is very good game. I played this game. But may i say very politely that LBA2 has very confused save system and i refused to play LBA2 after 3 fails. Of course this is my personal opinion and i do not want to discourage any one who wants to play LBA2. I liked to fly with my Dino. :hihihi: |
The bestt game ever
I spent a few joyful months playing lba1 and lba2 back in the days. No doubt one of the best games ever made.
|
I remember when I first discovered this game, I was very impressed with the features such as the graphics, the background music (I have the musics more complete than those of the Abandonia collection and neither did GOG.com make them available as Extras). :rocks: :kuger:
One of the few things I disliked was that Twinsen could get hurt if he bumped his head against the wall while running and you could not stop in time. One curious thing is that some non non hostile NPCs known or not can be destroyed and reborn again. I remember when I attacked a friend NPC, he did not die. And when I decided to talk to him, he did not want to talk to me. But when I leave his house, I go in and try to talk to him again, he is friendly again. :tease: Now, some hostile NPCs, especially Grobos (Elephantoids) can be “indestructible” no matter how much you attack them. |
In the begining I actually liked the fact that you get hurt when running into wall. It's not something you would find in American games even back then. Wasn't that much of a problem once you just get used to it. Second games changed this in favour of more commercial approach, so you could could keep running on the same spo if you are at the wall already which is what you would expect from a video game, but first part was at least different. Anyway, great games regardless. I especially loved in the first game when you land with rebels and attack the baddies.
@Mystvan: So if you have some tracks that abandonia is missing, please offer them :D |

My piece of text has already been corrected and is more understandable now: Quote:
• Hurt the head on the wall; • Aggressive Mode had a very clumsy gait and a grunting voice; • Discreet Mode stretched leg (I think) and was not inconspicuous; • When Twinsen got important objects, he did a very funny choreography by shaking and alternating his arms. Quote:
I could not access FTP at the time and have not tried it anymore. I can upload via Dropbox, but the file size is smaller then it could be available on FTP. I do not know if it would be allowed to upload soundtracks from games like LBA2, MOO2, WC Privateer, etc. since Abandonia does not have the games or at least have the available reviews (with download unavailable). |

I have another suggestion. I stopped organizing my files. Since I’ve been pretty busy lately, I will be able to rearrange it slowly and post it in my thread about Myst’s Offers. If someone gives a green light, I start uploading the files on Dropbox / FTP sharing them via link sent via PM. What do you think of this idea? Wow! My text looks like a torrent (river) of words, right? Quote:
By the way, I also do it. Did you see my signature? Games teach things you cannot even imagine... :rocks: :kuger: |

So no going back to the same scene. I will remember that lesson! However even in games the girl got to go back to the scene to talk to the guy and he was nice to her again. So games does teach us many things in real life so we don't mess it up in real life when we are in that situation. I agree. |
Hi, Grand marko River :1stplace:. I checked and the (compressed) files of the OST of the games LBA and LBA2 have together the size of 60.1 MB.
As soon as I finish organizing and deleting unnecessary folders and files, I wll post to my thread here. There, you, Emperor Japo(deis) :king: or Cluseck (skilled and polished Polish Moderator) will decide which files will be approved and which files will be rejected. Based on that, I will upload it to Dropbox, providing the file download links just like I did in ISO Cellar. By the way, I suspect that the reason why you and Neville can access FTP in spite of the connection problems is due to your skills: river of PoE and Bottomless files from Neville Longbottom... :rocks: :kuger: And I need 30,096 PoE because I am completely penniless... You could lend me? Pretty please... :( |
Another cool thing! If you search for the words Twinsen :3monkey: and / or Relentless, the search will be fruitless. Search using Little Big Adventure. The OSTs of the 02 games are available.
In addition to the LBA’s Theme (both versions!), I really enjoyed the Honey Bee (Honey B.) music because it sounds epic, magical and fantastic. In my opinion (you might disagree), it would combine with the magical and fantastic adventures of the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter series... I just missed the Title Theme in the case of LBA2... very cool and beautiful to listen to, but fortunately I have it in MP3 format... :music: |
