So? I think we all know it exists... It's a military fascility in the US. The question is - what exactly is there? And is it really named Area 51 - or is that just a name some geeksstarted calling it?
|
Normally highly classified military objects are hidden on satellite maps that are accessible to public...
There's a military base 1km from my house, we all know it exists, but it's not displayed on a map.... |
There have been so many 'TV documentaries' on the subject...
Did you see "Did we land on the Moon - Conspiracy Theory" documentary by Fox? They showed all of these fotage - claiming it was from a Russian spy satelite... |
area 51 is known to be in the vicitinity of rachel nervada.
the surrounding countryside is not accessable by the public - including all the moutains around the base. this is the fabled "area 51" even if i aint officially called area 51. |
There's a cement works slap bang in the middle of a flight path from Heathrow airport that isn't on maps, it;s f**king huge, you can't miss it from a plane.
|
I still think it's a bit fascinating, the whole hype surrounding Area 51. They're obviously hiding something from the public, but if it's aliens or advanced weaponry, we don't know... And we want to know. Now.

And of course they might just be hiding a huge waste of money which hasn't even yielded any results over several decades. I'd say that's by far the most likely explanation.:D |
I saw a documentary on Area 51 once, apparantly it doesn't officially exist so no laws apply there, because of this it's used as a dumping ground for nuclear waste. There were loads of ex-Area 51 employees (who wouldn't say what their job was) who were suffering from radiation poisoning.

woo freaky conspiracy theories about area 51 on google maps ^_^
now the FBi will come and arrest us :P Edit: of course, heres the easy way. area 51, nv works just fine!!!! Edit: http://www.fas.org/irp/overhead/a51-680828-1_3.jpg you can see a plane there. At the top of the base, just under the lake, on the taxiway coming off the runway. Above and slightly to the right of the 4 hangars. Edit: http://www.fas.org/irp/overhead/a51-680828-1_4.jpg and zoomed in... Another Edit: dirt mounds in a grid, anyone? http://maps.google.com/maps?q=california&l...61541&t=k&hl=en Ill go find more stuff for y'all.. but most edits ever, eh? Guess what, an edit: Green circles maybe? and one isnt even a circle. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=area+51,nv&l...85316&t=k&hl=en |

it be fun spying on them ^^
|
Hmm and what about areas 1 to 50? And areas above 51? :sneaky:

nice hi-res cirlces ^^ http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.asp...crachel%7cnv%7c
also, nice white patch. sorta where area 51 is... http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.asp...crachel%7cnv%7c |
The circles are farms, the way it works is that you have a central point and from that point comes a boom with sprinklers attached to this, this boom slowly rotates, leading to the entire circle being watered and suitable for growing crops.

these farms are a very long way from.. anywhere..

Edit: http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.asp...crachel%7cnv%7c I have to admit that they look a bit... Odd. |
Well yeah, they do but the line coming out from the centre is the boom and the thinner lines going around the centre is where sprinklers don't water.
|
I don't believe that there are aliens in Area 51, but I believe that they use it for highly classified experiments like the SR-71 plane back in the 70's, why else would they deny it's existance until 87' ?
Believing that they would spend so much money and effort in makong people curious so the attention is taken away from the 'real' bases, is even more stupid than believing this base has something to do with aliens... And therefore, it's interesting that you can see aerial photos of a base that is so heavily guarded... |

OK, I realize that most of you aren't from the US, but anyone who's ever flown over the Great Plains (and many other areas, I would imagine) has seen circles like those. They are indeed farms. As R_Havell says, an irrigation system is anchored at the center of each circle, as explained above. It rotates about the anchor, watering as it goes, so you end up with crops growing in a nice circle. Admittedly, the first time I saw those from the air, I didn't know what they were either. They do look awfully interesting. Also, those other things aren't mounds; they're depressions. Look at the shadows on the buildings. |
