What age are you now and how old were you when you first played computer games?
By computer I mean anything.. PC / SNES / Atari / Arcade etc... And what was the first ever game you owned? For Me: 24, 5, Atari2600 - Keystone Cops  |
21, about 10 or 12 probably, Kickle Cubicle on the NES (although I did play things like Manic Miner, Attic Attac, Galaxians and the awesome Halls of the Things on my dad's ZX28 before that).
|
24 in the lead! LOL
4 or 5... Star Wars? Beam Rider? High Noon? Can't really tell for sure though, but it was my brother's C64! :ok: |
27, 8, and I played Load Runner on my Uncles machine, no idea what the hardware was...
My first machine, 386, Adlib, -- Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis & Dune 2 & Civilization :ok: |
Began with 4 or 5 years when my oldest brother bought a Commodore64 and I was totally addicted after playing ... Giana Sisters, followed by Last Ninja and then all the other great games :) Today I also like to visit to the good old C64-music. The thing itself is still under my belongings. My brother told me to sell it, but ... no, I'll never sell it to anyone. It's a piece of history ... maybe when I'm 30 and the thing still works I can make a bunch of money of it, but only if I really need the money ;)
Oh yeah, I'm the first 19y-voter btw ^^ |
Now I'm 16, first game which I played was Contra on my brother NES. It was a very popular console in that days in Poland. First game I owned was propably Diablo Hellfire and Duke Nukem 3D.
|
Right!
So I'm the oldest... All of you go to your room! |
25. the first system i owned was a 48k spectrum, bought for me when i was 7 , it was the hard plastick keyed 1 with at least 3 basic commands per key, once a game had loaded didnt even dare breathe on the dam thing in case it reset. the first game i owned was probably quazatron or dizzy tresure island (dam that egg!)
|
20. First system was this machine that used black, Gameboy-like cassettes. First game was a question & answer thing my nephew programmed on it. "What weather is it outside?" "It is raining glittery suits from Eddy Wally." It ended by showing a triangle ^_^
|
24, and I honestly don't know at what age I started, I guess I was 5 or 6
and those were games like pong and squash and stuff like that on some green and black TV console (well, the screen was black with green, not the console itself) which didn't even have cardridges yet. But the real fun started when I was 8 and I started playing games like Willy the Worm and Lode runner on my mums Hyundai (don't know what processor).. and some time earlier on my nephews or classmates C64 (Paratrooper, Midnight Pinball, Lazy Larry, Ghost Busters etc) |
Quote:
Sounds like a great game!!! |
21. I first had a nintendo, was 6 or 7. Still have it somewhere, too bad it doesn't work anymore. First game was... Well what game do you think comes inserted in an old nintendo? Super Mario. :D Also had duck hunts, motorbike racings, there were like 44 games in that thing *good memories*
Though the first game I played was in my cousin's spectrum, some addictive basketball game that I don't know the name of. |
I am now 17.
The first game I played was Goldeneye when I was 9 (I think) |
16, think I began to play regularily at age six. It started with Jagged Alliance; I was so happy over getting the game to work all by my self on my step-brother's computer :D.
|
I am 17
Well,I have blurred image about playing some game with mouse on TV before it,but I REALLY cant remember what game/hardware that was,or how old I was.So I think it wont count. I get (or better said my family) PC in the age of 7 and first game I played was...umm Civilization.Or Legend of Kyrandia. |
Quote:
I am 32, will be 33 in couple of months. First game I played was Space Invasion - Arcade. After that I got hooked up to games, so I played mostly arcades, as I was not able to get computer at the time. (Phoenix, Scramble, Pole Position etc.) First computer game I played was chess game on first home computer I saw: ZX Spectrum. Not really soon after that I was able to get C64 and then Amiga, which IMHO is best game computer ever made. (To bad I don't own any of them any more) Ohhh, I used to rent Atari 2700 too. :D |
Quote:
Thought I'd owned all of the Atari's at one point or another too? :max: |
I'm 16 the first game I remember playing was Mickey mouse and some fihting games on sega genesis, when I was 7...
|
@Anubis, I was wondering who voted 32...
Well you send them to bed then... Sorry everyone I'm just bored, you know how it is, last half an hour on a friday afternoon before you go home... :tomato: |

Quote:
Thought I'd owned all of the Atari's at one point or another too? :max:
Atari 2600 would be correct. But it was not regular Atari, as it had many games programmed in to it, and there was a switch to change them. I believe it was not very legal, but when you rent the console, you like to play as many games as you can. :D |
Sort of like the new "old-atari" joysticks they sell in ToysRUs. 50/60 games on them that you plug straight into your TV. Donkey Kong at the touch of a button
The temptation has nearly got the better of me a few times, but I still own the originals :D |
Yes, somthing like that, just instead of nice cover, it had some ugly cover with some really old and odd switches.
Speaking of DTV (Direct to TV) systems, this one looks nice: C64 DTV |
28. First computer was my trusty C64, which I got for my 10th birthday.
|
17. First game was skifree (or something like that) when I around 6.
... ... Man I hate that monster at the bottom soooo much! :ranting: |
im 18 and the first system i ever had and still play today was nes(super mario 3)
then i went on to play zelda |
Its weird,
When I was little it was only the really rich kids who had C64's and stuff... Of course its different now... |
Yeah, I was the same... I remember my dad going down to Dixons and buying an Atari 520stFM on credit. He paid a fortune for that thing, but it was worth it. But then the 1040STe came out not long after.
Whatever happened to the Atari Falcon? I remember seeing it on "Bad Influence" with Andy Crane and Violet Berlin gabbing onabout how great it was?! (Sorry anyone not from the UK (or under 20ish) who doesn't know what I'm talking about) |
I'm 16 now (17 in a few weeks), but started playing games around the age of about 3. First game I remember playing was probably Space Quest I, King's Quest II or Cosmo's Cosmic Adventures. Heh, I learned how to read with DOS commands :D
|
Im 13 and have been computer gaming for 10 years. can till remember my first game ^^
learned to write with Microsoft word and used to play the fish who could wish. HEY I COMPLETED THAT! *adds to list of completed games* |
I'm 24, and I started playing computer games when we got our first computer. (It had a CD-Rom drive. Double-speed. VERY cool. LOL) That was in 1992 or 1993, so I would have been 11 or 12 then. My first game was either The Secret of Monkey Island or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (can't remember which came first).
|
I'm 27 now. The first game I ever played was Ghostbusters (my brother got it along with Commodore 64 back in 1983).
I was 5 when I started playing games: Ghostbusters, The Return of the Phantom Karate Devils (yes that's one long title), Blue Max, Frogger, Snoopy,... |
I'm 20, just turned it exactly a week ago, first started playing games when I was 3 I believe I was, first game was Super Mario Bros, still remember playing that and Duck Hunt, still remember doing that warp on level 4 to get to world 8, never could beat that dang maze in world 7, then remembering playing alot of nes games back then renting and such, remember they had a deal of renting 3 games for 3.99 good stuff.
|
I'm 31 and started at 5 or 6 with Pong (yes, Pong) on my cousin's console system, if you want to call it that. It was some sort of box that plugged into the TV and played Pong and variations thereof (which weren't many) in black and white. There were no cartridges; everything was hardcoded into the box. Dedicated Pong consoles rock, d00dz! Not long after that, the same cousin got a Commodore VIC-20, which was the first personal computer I ever touched. Somewhere in between, though, I got an Atari 2600, and my own videogame saga was begun. It came with Combat and Space Invaders. I believe I played Combat first.
|
i'm 18.
I can't remember when I started playing, but it must have been something like 4 or 5, I also can't put my finger on what was my first game, but I ruined a lot of "nightmare on elmstreet" savegames back then (I didn't know an english word, and the words "save" and "load" are exactly the same length!) I also remeber spending countless hours with "stargoose", and some game where you play either a gigant, or a godzilla, and have to destroy villgaes in order to find the egg (to eat it, or care for it respectivley). |
The lone 23 year old at the moment. i think my first game was either Striker or Sopwith.. or Bouncing babies...
hmm...fading memory |
I'm 24, and I started playing at the age of 8, on my uncles C64. I don't remember the first game I owned, but the first game I ever played was Lemans for the C64.
|
18 year old, and the first game i owned was W2: BNE, which i bought about one month ago
|
Voted 17 becouse the birthday will be in few days.
First game was Alladin that is also downloadable via abandonia. |
I'm 25 now. I started playing games when I was six :D
My first game was Wishbringer ^_^ |
I am 16.
I was 3 when I first played a game on computer. And the game was Civ1. Soon I theached my father how to play it. :D |

I'm 25 and started at the age of 6 (perhaps) with a pong-console-clone (that i still have somewhere...)
Some years after that, my parents gave me a marvellous atari 2600, with the mythic Dig-Dug :kosta: Those were very good years... |
I'm eightteen years old, and the first game I ever played was propably frogger on some (already) ancient console back in the beginning of the 90's.
I actually didn't own a game myself untill I got settlers II. |
I'm 21 and i started playing games at the age of 3, it was the table-styled Space Invaders arcade game, looking similar to this
http://www.andys-arcade.net/store/images/CTSIc.JPG it was in the local pizza shop run by my dads friends, so i spent alot of time there when i was young, sure i was crap at it, but the colours are always fun for a 3 year old my first console was the Atari2600, i think the first game i played on that was Asteroids |
17
First time drunk - 15 First and last time ever stoned 15 I only mentioned these cause of the beer thread. I get my p's in a month and a half, if I weren't so damn lazy I could have gotten them four and a half months ago. |
I'm 19 now. I played on our Commodore 64 alot back in the day. We had a heap of games for it, but I remember Maniac Mansion alot, and World games... and many others.
Around the same time I was watching my brothers and dad play the old Sierra adventure games such as Space Quest and Kings Quest. Then I got old enough to be able to play them on my own. Mixed Up Mother Goose was probably one of the first games I actually played on the PC. |
Well!!! You learn something sad everyday. I'm the 3rd or 4th oldest person here. i'm 31. I've been gaming longer than the majority has been alive. I got an atari when i was 8. Played Star Master - now that was a great atari game!!! Anyone remember that one???
Seems i'm so old, I gonna shuffle off now and do whatever old folk do So.....Troubled............ |

I am 14 now. Though sometimes I wonder if mentally everyone else is really 14 :P
Anyway my first game was when I was 4. Crusader No Remorse. :ok: |
I am 17, and I first played a game back in 1992, when I was 4, and that game was Emerald Mine for the Amiga.
*cries* I miss my father's Amiga 500  |
My Atari..... 1982?? Was that really the year? Crap I'm old. But yes we were very spoiled kids. My sister and I had like 30 barbies!! My grandmother used to go shopping in Hong kong every year and bring tonnes of stuff back for us. Too bad things are not so great now, I've discovered that you have to work for money!! How shocking. |
im 21, my first computer was Commodore vic 20. can't remember firs game i played :)
|
I am 28 and a half. I think. Born in December 76.
First time I played such games was in 1983 when a friendly family came back from the USA after a few years and their children brought an Atari console (don't even remember which one anymore LOL) and played for hours at their house. I didn't like it much, but it paved the way for his Amstrad 6128 a year or so later for me to get hooked on games. I didn't buy a computer till 1987 and my first two games for it were Starglider and Bob Winner. (doubt anyone knows them :-p ) Though it took about 6 or so more months to get my first strategy/wargame for it (which is my favourite type of games), UMS. Excellent! |
Following Iron Scarecrow's example:
First time I drank alcohol: 3 months old First time I smoked (tobacco): 16 years old first time drugs: never... except for vitamines :ok: |
Surely that would reuire another thread (only it'd be a little pointless I'd say...)
I think this thread has been made redundant by the emergence of Grand Dad - none of us can hope to compete with his amazing powers of ... erm, age ... and thus we are already defeated! |

15, Frist game I played was at age between 3-5. The first game I oplayed was Wolfenstien 3d on my 386.... LOL I don't think it is healthy for a 4 year old to be killing nazis. I then upgraded to doom, doom2 and duke3d.
|
You can never be too young or old to kill nazis. :sniper:

my first real computer was an MSX1 back in.... (long ago) and i have no idea of what game i played first |

|
17 now and erm....i think like 8 when i first played zak mkraken and the alien mindbenders..... :ok: so sorry about my comic. I Know it is far to large. But it is essential that everyone should see it. Give Bat some love.
|
16 years of life and I started playing games when I was 3 years. Maybe even earlier...
|
18 (minus circa six weeks), first game played - I think I was 5 or 6, it was Solitaire on one of the old Windows (3.x I think).
First computer I got in early 1995. It was 486 DX4/100 with 8 MB RAM, Sound Blaster-compatibile card, 1 MB graphics card and whooping 800 MB HDD. All running under Windows 3.x / DOS dual boot. Later on RAM was upgraded to 8 and 24 MB, Windows 95a installed (leaving the dual-boot, though), and a 2.1 GB HDD added (altough this was about two years ago). Graphics card proved to be irreplaceable, as the computer refused to work with any better ones. Nowadays it is a dead shell, as the motherboard survived almost exactly the 9 years said to be its expiry date and quit the business - permamently. First game I legally owned? Hmm... I think it was Battle Isle. Or maybe Lords of the Realm? One of these, at least. I think it was in year 1996. |
That Batman comic doesn't make any sense.
And i never said when I first played a game, but I going to guess and say I was 5, I think it was either Commander Keen or Rockford, but I have a bad memory so don't quote me on that. |
18
I started playing super mario brothers when I was 2 years old. Played a lot of games on the NES. Also played Rivercity on it. |
Okay....im 14 right now (But soon im 15).
This whole playing thing started when i was 3. My first console was nintendo (I was so good back then,i managed to beat super mario 1 & 3). I became a great fan of nintendo. Later, i got super nintendo and nintendo 64 (i was so happy then). My grandfather also gave me an Amiga when i was something about...8 years old.One years later,i got my first computer. I had it for 2 days, then it crashed. Later,i got another computer, which mixed up badly after 6 months of playing(Thanks to the Ports of Call). And i had my third computer, which i still have. couple of years ago,i got my own PSX and, belive it or not, commodore(Yes,yes! Im still playing with it). That was my gaming history...and oh,i was born in 12.6.1990 |
 crap!!
i forgot how old i am! LOL LOL (14) |
okay, 14, born in September 1990, i was 6 or 7 when i got my fathers Tandon 286 Sl II, which ran only the great Nibbles (at which i sucked), then when i was 12, i got a Pentium 133 Mhz from my uncle, Windows 95, 16 MB RAM, SB 16, that was when i started playing StarCraft. Then, it crashed one morning, and after half a year i got the computer my father had bought when he gave me his tandon, a real Pentium 166Mhz Windows 95 32 MB RAM, pretty much the same games as the old 133 one, but with internet access :sneaky: , and then that one crashed, and i got fed up with PCs and bought a PSone, and then i discovered DOS games. That was when i bought a Compaq DeskPro 166Mhz, 64 MB RAM, 2 GB HDD, and running DOS 6.22, WFW 3.11 and 55 DOS Games, 85% from abandonia.com, and then that one crashed, too, and so i just bought a TARGA Pentium 75, 16 MB RAM, 1,5 GB HDD. As you may have noticed, about every PC i had crashed. I don't know why, maybe they don't like me...
|
What do you mean crashed?
|
if they just crashed, do the 3 fingured salute.... everyone all together now:
CTRL, ALT, DELETE!!! |
I am 15 now, and i gues i was 8 or 7 when i pleyed my first game on win95 55mgh
but now i hawe winXP 2,83ghz, ati radeon 9200 and over 500mb of ram so it is a big differense :D |
I'm 18. I have faint memories of playing Double Dragons on NES with my older cousin when I was 2... maybe younger. She introduced me to the world of video games.
|
18 over here.
I can't remember what was first, the C64 or the NES XD I can remember playing Super Mario, but somehow we only have an C64 lying around..... I never solved that mystery ^^ Anyway, I guess, you can count the Genesis as my real first console, since I got it at an age where I could finally understand what was going on in the games ^^ |
I am 18. The first thing I played was something on a pirated version of the Famicom. I don't remember what game. We had those 1 000 000 games in 1 pirated cartriges.

My friend had it......(deep breath) |
Age: 35
First computer/console: Atari 2600 First game: Combat :Titan: But the best games computer of all times is of course the C=64! For this computer I bought these games: Gunship, Silent Service, Pirates! Defender Of The Crown... And a shipload of games we (my brother and I) somehow... got. Then my brother got an Amiga 500 and I bought "Their Finest Hour (Battle of Britain)" for it. First PC and the first computer I bought myself: 386 SX 33 Mhz with real Soundblaster. I remember worrying then about all the soundcards and standards available and figured the real thing would work best. I was right! The main reason I finally bought a PC was because "Secret Weapons Of The Luftwaffe" would not be available on the Amiga. The first PC game that blew me away (not SWOTL, which was a let down) was "Aces Of The Pacific." Then I bought "X-Wing" which was not such a good game. But I being still a Star Wars fan I persevered and completed the damn game! Cost me one joystick before I figured out the basic maneuvre to avoid enemy fire (weave, causing you to spiral). Upgraded to 486 SX motherboard. Then an AMD 586, Pentium II, Pentium III. Now I play "Ghost Recon," "Rome: Total War" and a lot of old games on Dosbox and C=64 emulator. PS: I just wanted to see the voting results before voting myself, but now it says I already voted! Which I didn't, because there's no entry for 35 which I really am. |

|
Well I filled the 29 slot!
First computer Amstrad 1640. First game The Bard's Tale. :Titan: Some time in the eighties, maybe 87. |
Oh man the 1640 was the first time I saw EGA graphics LOL. It was a friend's PC and I saw Blood Money and Drakhaan. I liked them very much. I think it was the first time I saw a 3D RPG with 3rd person camera for your group.
Good PC. |
Better late than never I suppose....I must of missed this thread originally.
I am 28 and I was a gamer at 9 with my commodore 128 playing Spy Vs Spy and Summer Games |
Note that the poll is all wrong - it should be "On what year were you born", otherwise it's probably verrry wrong by now.
|
Sorry about bringing this one back from the dead
|
28 now. First started playing on an atari 2600, yars revenge, crystal castles, centipede, dig dug.(was my buddies console, but I played it every day). I was around 7 or 8.
My first console that I owned was an nes. I had Double dragon 2 for it, as well as the duck-hunt/mario cart, sans(without) light gun however:(. My first computer was an amiga 5000, and it is what really opened my eyes towards actual computing. I loved it and I played a lot of the games on here, including rise of the dragon, secret of monkey island, Typoon thompson and the water babies(rocks with a track ball) ultima 1 and 2, diamond mine, and the list goes on. This really brings back memories.... |
AHHH!!!

My first game was..lets see..that little game on DOS where you load up the tractor or something, and that ABC one. :)
|
What? Why did you start this up again? Don't we have a new thread like this?
|

Well, I guess its the same as my 4 1/2 year old cousin coming over to play Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and Driv3r.. |
15 years old, with a lively history of playing oldies. We had an Atari with great games involving shooting comets with 3 polygon spaceships etcetera. We had a computer afterwards and we always played Dune II (o, the memories...). We used to buy floppies (GRR selling DEMOS for 10 guilders) and games such as Scorch and Electroman have made a great impact on me.
Don't we all miss the floppy era? In twenty years, no one will remember it and we will be seen as pioneers in the gaming industry... What a frightful thought! |
Uggg! Ok 50. Very first on an arcade machine, belive it or not it was Pong! Yes the very first to come out! As Emory said on Man of the House " I feel very old."
|
22. My first game was Super Mario Brothers for NES. Cannot remember when..

30. I remember my first pc had 2 floppy drives and a black-green monitor (don't know the correct name). Later I got myself a hard disk of 20MB, but I had to replace one of the floppy drives to install it. :hysterical:
And then these Sierra games : Please insert disk 4 of 12 :wallbash: First game was Pong or some clone of it. |
Wow, lots of youngin's. But that (currently) 4% over 35 is encouraging. I'm 30 and I lost my videogame virginity on... well, I'm not sure. I've had so many. But the first I can remember was a 4-in-one pong-like game that plugged into the TV. Baby sitter vomitted all over it. After that we got the C=64 an my fate was sealed.
|
What a necro'd thread... =/
|
I am 15 after 2 weeks (I answered 15). My first game was Super Mario 1 in NES (I was about 6 or 7 years old)

I'm currently 20.
We had a ZX Spectrum (which I believe dated from about the Mesolithic Era) in the house when I was about 4, I can only remember Trailblazer on it. We upgraded to a PC when I was 6 or 7, and Prince of Persia was the first game we owned. |
