:ok: Cool game, there shouldn't be a time limit.

USMC0705 29-05-2005 03:40 PM

Oooh, looks like SWAT 2. Time to download! :)

Dream 29-05-2005 04:02 PM

Meh I bet you write about it before playing it.

TheChosen 29-05-2005 04:18 PM

To be honest,i dont like this game.
Ufo:Enemy Unknown and Jagged Alliance:Deadly Games are a lot better.

t0mme 29-05-2005 07:28 PM

As a big Jagged Alliance fan (i have all versions with manuals!!) I was looking for this game ever since I read about it in a magazine at the time of its release. I hope it's better than SWAT2, because that one really really sucks.

Shades Of Death 30-05-2005 03:51 PM

Meh... I get this in a dosbox:

"Please insert the Deadline CD and press any key (or 'q' to exit"

:help: !

Moi 30-05-2005 05:32 PM

Awesome. I saw this game in a magazine way back when and wanted to get it, but it sorta fell off the radar. Downloading it now. Here's hoping it doesn't suck!

Shadows of Light 31-05-2005 03:40 AM

Well jimmy7512 is there was no time limit I don't think it would be called Deadline. =p

amoki 31-05-2005 10:52 AM

Major problem with this game - lousy and over-complicated gameplay. It's too confusing, and the interface is lousy. MAn, whoever designed this game should have it benchmarked side by side with UFO: Enemy Unknown prior to production.

Syrion 23-06-2005 06:35 PM

Yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaahh!! You did it!!! At last, I can play with a game that I was searching for long time. Thank You very much!!!

Guest 04-08-2005 10:35 PM

"Please insert the Deadline CD and press any key (or 'q' to exit"

For anyone who don't know how to get past this message, just put the "cd files" with wich you install the game in another map, and then define this map as the d drive in the dosbox config file... this way you can play the game from the "cd"

Guest 21-06-2006 11:15 AM

...i dont really get it, can yuo explain more closely? :kosta:

The Fifth Horseman 21-06-2006 11:48 AM

Copy the files from the CD to a directory on your hard drive. Then use MOUNT command in DosBox to mount that directory as drive D.

And please don't ask me about the MOUNT command. It's explained in the Readme file and about every DosBox FAQ on the net.

rsdworker 09-05-2007 08:52 PM

The Fifth Horseman 10-05-2007 09:10 AM

From the previous posts, I understand you need to mount the game's directory as drive D.

The screenshots and editor review make this game sound quite good, but it seems to have got little attention and mediocre player reviews. Is it the difficulty with installing and playing it that is the problem, or the game itself?

I need the manual for this game. its so extremely complex that it is impossible to guess how it works without help

Kugerfang 25-04-2008 04:20 PM

The feelies included:

* A police folder in a pouch containing an Inspector's Casebook
* A plastic bag with 3 white pills found near Marshall Robner's body
* Notes from police interviews with Leslie and George Robner, Mr. Baxter, Ms. Dunbar, and Mrs. Rourke
* Corpus Delicti (summary of findings from the coroner's examination)
* A letter from Mr. Coates, Marshall Robner's lawyer, to the Chief of Police
* An official memo from G.K. Anderson of the Lakeville, Connecticut police department
* A lab report on the teacup Robner drank from before his death
* A photo of the murder scene, complete with white chalk outline

Wow, you need all those stuff just to solve the game!

Geezer 25-04-2008 05:27 PM

I think there is some confusion surrounding this game. There are two games named Deadline. One is an old Infocom text adventure the other is the Nova Spring police simulation that is on Abandonia. The feelies you mention are involved with the Infocom text game.

Pretty sure I have the manual around somewhere.

EDIT: Ok, I found it. It is the CD insert style manual. I'll scan it for you this weekend and upload it. It is up to you, however, to supply Romano with the necessary bribe to get it added to the site anytime soon. :)

Since the version I have is CD based maybe this one is a good candidate for the ISO cellar. Ermuli?

Geezer 09-05-2008 01:14 PM

Manual has been uploaded.

Japo 23-12-2008 08:07 PM

The manual's already uploaded but hasn't been published in more than half a year. And this game's IMpossible to understand without manual. :( I'd download it directly from the server but I can't, just upload. :oh:

What about getting this up the queue? :hypocrite:

laiocfar 24-12-2008 02:03 PM

The a problem with this game is that all missions end being an arcade game. Sometimes is that i fail at planning so a flashback is throw in front the door and not through the door into the room. Other times, the response of your force when control is leaved to AI is really slow. Or they just kill a terrorist by hitting him when is already cuffed.

Also i dont know how to pick up a cuffed terrorist and get him out of the area, its very painful to go leave 3 people guarding cuffed terrors....

At end you send your user controlled commando in a solo assault mode. Rest of team, if they are not guarding nobody, follows only to cuff the terrors that you dont kill. Few missions forces you to use more guys but they are few.

I like the game idea but i dont find that idea in the gameplay result.

Man - I always thought this game was so hard until I realised you could slow down the time to real time...

Now, instead of "so hard", it's just "hard".

Hi, I have got the game to run without any problems but one question,

is there any way to get the briefing videos to work?

At the moment there is just a black screen. I really enjoyed having the lady give me a briefing when I used to play this game. I notice that the video files are included but they are 1kb .bin files so they need to be looked up somewhere I guess. Are they included in the 22mb download? The other download is 500+mb, is that because it includes the videos and the 22mb one does not?

Thanks for your help.

Well... You managed to answer your own questions, are you? :D

Yes, video and audio is the main difference between CD and CD-rip, usually.

Thanks for the reply!

I will download the "easy install" 500+mb version then!

Thanks again!
