Be very careful with this one. I looked into this prog. a while back and I read a lot of complaints about is messing up windows instalations and such. Definitely look into it before you instal.

Here's the discussion I read:

Fortunately, I've read the readme before I launched the thing. So I had a second thought about doing so, with the result being = better wait for a safer version.

Meanwhile, can anybody direct me to somewhere where I could get more info about manually tweaking these XP settings?

Just google" winxp game tweaking" I'm sure something will turn up. I remember something called "vipers lair" or sometyhing like that that had a decent guide, but that was sp1.

thanx a lot. Infact I had posted this here to know about it and so thanx once again. Even my Windows lost their best settings. It was already so fast and It made my pc without good looks. Its best to avoid this tool. Sorry to post it here but my intentions were really not wrong. I am sorry if someone also destroyed their settings. :tomato:

No, I didn't mean its a bad program either. Actually as long as you have system restore on I think you are ok. And if you know what you are doing suposedly it is an ok program, the thing is, that this program caters to supposedly non-technical people looking for a quick fix. There is no quick fix for this kind of thing as all systems and configurations are different. You are better to get some benchmarking tools, a half decent guide, and do it yourself, as this will teach you the tools to optimize your system instead of paying someone else to do a half decent, or maybe even horrible job at it. No one thinks you were out to mess peoples systems up domn't worry.
ps:about you losing your settings...do you have system restore turned on?? If so you can simply revert back to your previous config. and delete that god forsaken prog. :help:

nope, I suffered some problems in my PC, actually don;t know what was wrong but It was not because of this tool, I scanned my PC and there was 8 files infected with Trojan Horses infecting EXPLORER.EXE. Although files were deleted but my PC was not ruuning smoothly so I simply reinstall my XP.
By the way, now I have searched for this kind of things and found that there are many tools of this kind! Game Optimizer is another one. I am not going to try it right now but after few days I will give it a try.
Thanx

the only tweaking I do with my comp is my own that way I'll know how to fix it . I don't need no third party thing to mess up my comp , wait , what am I blabbing about , I have Windows ME LOL so if any XP users want to use it , by all means go for it .

I'd like to suggest BoostSpeed. A full Lite version was on the cover CD for one of the computer mags here in Poland. This tool can not only help you with HDD cleanup of leftover files (TEMP directory, empty directories etc), but also do a registry cleanup, control ALL of the startup lists (registry included!) from a single window and, most of all, manage the hidden settings for many Windows features and services.
It has auto-optimization feature and you can select a specific optimization setting for the hidden services too.

Finally, it comes with a complete set of backup features - on first startup it creates a complete System Restore Point, and it can backup the registry too.

I used it, and am quite satisfied...

I'd rather just mess with it in person. I don't like third party doohickies.
