Abandonia is a very multicultural site,
so I wanted to have an overview.

A. J. Raffles 28-07-2005 01:58 PM

You left out pretty much all of the Slavic languages, Grinder.

Indignus IV 28-07-2005 02:02 PM

Ukrainian! Yeah for Ukies!

I used to speak perfect Ukrainian when I was but a wee lad. When I started school though, I lost it all and started speaking English. :(

I can speak enough French to get along, and I am starting Latin courses next year.

I hope to learn swahili at some point...... :D

Hebrew

Good heavens why?

Doubler 28-07-2005 07:44 PM

A list of languages I'd like to learn at some time in the future (A list that will propably grow in the years to come):
Ancient Greek (a lot better, that is)
Latin
And, perhaps, Hebrew (me too :D )

Why?
Because a lot of texts that I find particulary interesting were written in those languages.

Scarface 29-07-2005 12:46 AM

Native spanish speaker
I also speak english and a little bit of German

Borodin 29-07-2005 01:22 AM

I speak English, and understand German well enough to know better than attempt it.

PrejudiceSucks 29-07-2005 08:34 AM

English is my lieblingslangue and ikk spreek it all the time, but apart from that I can speak a fair bit of German, a bit of French and that's about it.

I can say the Scandinavian names for their nationalities and can read the Russian alphabet (although not actually say more than about 8 words of Russian).

*running out of ideas* - I know 'hot chocolate' in Flemish, 'beer' in Spanish and the Greek alphabet. I also speak a tiny bit of Italian (like mi chiamo and come stai, not much more than that). I can also say 'I am Dutch' in Dutch, which is possibly not a very useful thing to learn. I can spout a few other words, but not much.

Actually I lied. German is my favourite language. Just for the record. It sounds really... muscular....

vipin 29-07-2005 08:41 AM

I speak Hindi (my Mother Tongue). I am also able to speak some other languages from India(India is multicultural) but not so much of them. I can speak English well too. I can also speak Urdu (language of Pakistan) also since it is similar to Hindi. :D

Reup 29-07-2005 10:48 AM

Dutch (native)
English (fluent)
German (fluent, well almost... a bit rusty)
French (almost conversational)
Turkish (learning)

That's it :P

Grinder 29-07-2005 12:00 PM

I added another poll for the other languages, including
Hindi and Urdu, vipin. go vote there.

Quintopotere 29-07-2005 12:17 PM

I'm italian so i speak very well italian :D

I also speak "well" english and spanish (i stayed six months in Spain)

I studied latin many years ago, but now i remember quite nothing about it!

I can understand a bit of french but i can't speak it!

Studying martial arts i knw some japanees words, but, for sure, i'm not able to do an intresting conversation... maybe something like: "one, two, three... punch, kick, high punch, straght kick..." and so on... :D

Grinder 30-07-2005 12:03 PM

OK, if anyone could close this thread, please do so.
i just read all the posts and realized that i forgot at least 21,5 languages.
