Supaplex
Feel free to comment and discuss this game here. Also, if you have any useful tips or tricks don't hesitate to share them with the others! Thanks!
Review and Download (if available) |
A new category of games should have been created for this game... Arcades :) - This game its the grandchild of Bulder Dash ( anyone remembers it? )
|
the greatest game ever
I used to be an addict |
|
I grew up with C64 so Dash is greatest. Like Elite or Doom, I just like good idea of an original game. Others will come and go, few will remain, and whenever something good comes up everyone will remember how it started. Well, expect for graphic, Boulder Dash had pretty good levels (not to mention endless sequels). Still it would be nice to say something about supaplex since this is a forum for that :). Well, if someone still don't like to play it, download it just to have it. You never know when a little child can come in your house. I once even let some kids to play C64 emulator and they were amazed. Well, how can you expect for a 5 year old kid to kick ass with Counter???????? :huh:

Besides, I write to those guys 'cause I have some old games and stuff so I wanted to be useful or something, but never got a reply, so..... B) |
Well, I esteem you. Many people just registered and then disappeared.
I've just seen that an ex-guest poster (Eagle of Fire) has registered. Well, your choice. :rolleyes: If you register, use marko_river.....easy ;) I had Supaplex, and played it some time.....but it's not my genre. :unsure: |
My friend told me she has many supaplex versions, and she will give them to me, so I thought....if you want them....just give me call..... :unsure:
|
try this forum
http://www.infordigital.com/ some of the greatest players still sharing their levels daily, great new tricks |
Where can I get winplex?
|
|
i have played this with my friends when i was 6!
(i have found it by screenshots) |
I have many "add-ons" to Supaplex (they aren't add-ons, they're more somekind of remakes). If you want them I will contact one of admins, and ask them to put it on the site! :ok:
|
Mooron, I'am also stuck in level 59. There are 9 balls (3*3) and is imposible across them!!! Is this also your problem? bye |
It's not impossible, you just have to make them fall properly. Start by standing next to the middle row (without eating the dirt next to the top or bottom row first). Should look like this:
Code:
* OOO# Code:
* OOO Code:
* OOO Code:
* O |
I have see in the demo that supaplex use a rare thing to pick ting besides him and more. what is the button for that?
(oh, and i go download it over becouse i have uhh.... wrong debugged...) |
There's a key for that sort of stuff (both the above posts), but it's been a while since I played the DOS version. Try left Shift, or maybe Space. You should be able to press it and quickly move up/down/left/right to eat whatever is in that direction without moving. If you hold it down for several seconds, you should frown and then drop a red disk.

if you fancy a go of one of the best clones of boulderdash then try
Boulder Rush Boulder Rush Megaplex http://www.matemaster.de/mpx/ the dear Supaplex page http://www.elmerproductions.com/sp/ i hope it helps to all :-) and another great, and promising site Boulderdash - Martijn's Boulder Dash Fan Site - Freeware and Shareware Boulderdash Clones for PC |
Argh
I almost forgot how frustatingly addictive this game was. Seems easier now that I'm 7 years older though :-) |
Yes tom it was, i know how to go on
you must stand in the middle between teh two green blocks click them both away by pressing space and first up and then down and then go to the right :ok: |
Wow, what an addictive game...and such a basic concept. Im working my way through a handful of PC games Ive downloaded, having a few gos on each to see if they are worth keeping and this one has had me hooked for hours, definitely a keeper!!! I particularly recommend it to any parents out there wanting an inoffensive, cute game for their kids that will keep them occupied and more importantly THINKING (hurrah no SHOOT SHOOT KILL KILL etc etc).
Thats why I LOVE this site, its keeping these wonderful, aged games alive and introducing them to a whole new group of players......ABANDONIA...STILL the best. :max: |
2 Ahuibers: THANK YOU FOR LEAVING THAT LINK HERE ! ! !
Level-editor is just the thing I only needed :D :D :D 2 Everybody else: Supaplex RULEZZZ ! ! ! :ok: P.S. I hope, everybody knows how to hack a "player.lst" file to make all levels available ;) |
YES! i was playing Acno's Energizer on miniclip and remembered this game but i didn't remember the name. i not only found the name here but the entire game. i love this site. i've now found Tyrian and Supaplex. i was addicted to both games about 10 years ago.
and i'm too lazy to register. |
Well, i might be wrong, but at the bottom of the screen you should have two lines of text.
I - ??? II - 549 (Or something like that) Just write the number from the line two and press enter. If it doesn't work, then i don't know what's going on. |
Hi all. Hi to FirstChild. I've got the exact same problem you have. Let me explain: You and I have the very first Supaplex of its kind, before it was modded and hacked and changed into the usual S-Plexes you find the most of. So that's why you need the actual code, since you have the unhacked version. But I've looked everywhere, and nobody knows the code, so perhaps hacked versions are the only way to go. Peace and love. :cheers:
|
Oh yeah, REPLY TO: FIRSTCHILD: Thanks for the code, but that only works with a hacked version. I used to have that Supaplex, but I lost it. Do you have it? Would you consider sharing? :cry: LOL! No, seriously, I'm desperate. Nobody has it. It's the best one. :help:

This is the greatest game from 90'! :ok:
|
I am also very fond of Bulder Dash clones and other descendents, but this one is impossible to play. This stupid red ball-with-eyes does not move step-by-step, but jump instantly over several squares. And not just for 2 or 3, but for the whole line.
* sigh * I know it wasn't written for nowadays computers... |
deleted.
|
the game is just too fast. i just press the arrow key once and he is allready at the seccond end of the level:S...has anyone have an idea how to slow the game down?

Use DosBox. You can fine-tune the cycle count to very low values, so that your game will work at the optimum playable speed.
|
Ahhh the mighty Supaplex. I still have the original of this game. I had the CD-ROM edition.
I only ever managed about 30 levels in though. Some of them are insanely difficult. I'll need to have another shot at it sometime. |
Hello people, i've got a question.
I have installed DOSbox on my pc to run supaplex. Now I have a problem. Supaplex is unzipped and stored in the cdrive map of DOS, but when I open DOSbox, type "dir", then "cd supaplex" and then again "dir", you see the file's and dir's of supaplex. Till here it's okay. Then I'll have to go to the configuration program by typing "install", but it doesn't work. I see "C:\supaplex>install File not Found ->->->->->->->" What do I have to do more to let the game work. I have spent more than 3 hours trying, but it still doesn't work. thanx already |
Sounds like the "install" file you're trying to run is not an executable.
Try dir *.exe dir *.com dir *.bat and run only the files returned by these commands. |
:brain: Yay! I've been looking for this game for years, it was on the first comp I ever owned, my mom got it from a person she knew for either $100 or $30, don't remember, and I made it to 90 something levels... then couldn't use that comp any more. Ever since I haven't been able to remember what its called, then I find it here by pictures! *dances*
......Its been so many years, though.... Over ten.... I'll have to rework out most of the levels..... eek. |
Actually I´m stuck in two levels... 24 and 35. I´m feeling already really stupid because I can´t find a way to pass them :(. Someone please can help me some way? thank u :)
|
i got windows vista on my computer and supaplex doesnt work.
it says that supaplex doesnt suppor full screen mode?? can anybody help me? |
did you try using dosbox?
|
Megaplex runs Supaplex without a hitch at all. So about using DOSbox for this game isn´t a good option.
http://www.abandonia.com/forum/index.php?s...ost&p=66622 this post explains everything. |

Level 35 is one of the easiest. You can finished it in less than 40 seconds. Btw, 62 is a 15 seconds level. Let us know when you get to it :laugh: Just kiddin' :p |
This is one of my all-time favorites, I play it when i was 10 and still playing. I remember being stuck at level 71 and made a celebration the first time i completed it!!! (my nightmare for this one)
And I still have a few levels to complete the full game, the last ones are very very hard :doh: Quote:
For level 35, it is in fact one of the easiers, regardless what it can appear at first: the key is to kill the electron with the infotron, resist to te temptation to eat it, and so you will get those 9 you need. |
Nice to see yet another Supaplex forum...
If you want to know more about Supaplex, read the doc in the zip at elmerproductions.com. Or download the pdf from the forum at infordigital.com (which is an updated version of that doc).
The original game, which is found here on Abandonia, runs twice as fast as originally designed, due to the special synchronization with the frame frequency of the VGA electronics: Original code ran slow on PCs of those days, and the game synchronization was performed with 2 VGA-frames. As PCs became faster, that game synchronization went wrong in 1 VGA-frame, so the game ran exactly twice as fast. Furthermore, the used video mode (320x200 at 16 colors) is badly implemented in several newer video chips, because it is not supported by any Windows version: The very special horizontal soft scrolling electronics for this video mode is not implemented properly in some (few) chips, letting the game field quickly jump during any horizontal movement. Use the SpeedFix (SpFix63.exe) in stead of Supaplex.exe, which runs the exact game code, but is debugged and offers some better bookkeeping features like savegames and creating demos. |
One word: DOSBox.
|
Actually, you have to be careful in DOSBox as well. I think about 10000 cycles was good, anything over that was too fast.
|
I think the best way to run supaplex is to use both the speedfix and DosBox. I run it with no problems that way.
And also something more, as HPerk said, the speedfix is not only a patch, but instead is a full upgrade of the game with many new features, mainly the chance to play totaly new levels!!! even to make new with an editor. It's a nice add-on. In http://www.elmerproductions.com there are alos a lot of new levels and the solutions for ALL levels!!. This is my favorite web on this game. :nuts: |
To correct something: The SpeedFix does not include an editor.
I disassembled supaplex.exe, debugged it (repaired the speed in first instance, hence the name SpeedFix), added new bookkeeping features like recording demos, switching between different levelsets, and a lot more, without changing the game itself in any way (apart from repairing some bad bugs). And the latest result is the reassembled version with the name spfix63.exe. Every change and addition -and a lot more- can be read in the plain text file spfix63.doc and in the updated >>>spfix63a.pdf<<< I also let Frank Schindler from Dresden, Germany, use my disassembly to implement Supaplex in Visual Basic. He took the game part and converted each machine language instruction of the game part exactly to create Megaplex, which also plays levels of different size and includes a level editor. Paulo Matoso from Portugal, the owner of infordigital.com, developed (and develops) Megaplex further with nicer graphics and a lot more. |

:clap:Wohoo!!! I did it, finished all levels of Supaplex. Active playing time
10:45:08 (could have done better but forgot to pause the game sometimes when thinking the solution). This won't prove anything but: |

:tongue: Anyway, congrats, there are some hard levels in that game..... :) |

I beat the original levels, and am now playing Level Collection 01. I am on level 11 (Romancing the Stones!) and almost figured out how to beat it. I haven't skipped any levels.

Therefore this new link >>>spfix63a.pdf<<< But also the manual from the original Supaplex-CD, as it was meant: I replaced all items of the missing font with how it was meant to look like >>>Supaplex-CD-Manual_(Improved).pdf<<< Remember, that this is the manual of the limited original copy protected supaplex.exe and does not include the SpeedFix additions, which are all listed in the spfix63a.pdf. |
Logical legend. :OK:

Supaplex Graphics
I'm working on a mod for Rocks'n'Diamonds and in the process I had to extract the graphics from the original Supaplex game. I thought it would be useful to put it somewhere so I'm attaching a download link here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?v892mw2cj6kin3v The images were converted directly from the data files (there are likely more in the game executable just don't know how to get them). I'm still searching a way to do the same for the Amiga version but I was only able to get the PHIL_00, PHIL_01, and PHIL_02 files (one of which contains the graphics) by extracting the appropriate ADF file. I also tried to feed GfxRip with uncompressed WinUAE saved states just don't know how to proceed next (the tutorial is too advanced for me). |
