Got any game series that strikes a special chord with you?
|
Thief, TES, C&C, AoE, NFS...
That's about it (Allthough I'm sure I've forgotten something) Some of these because of fond memories, some of these because they're really very good. |
The Monkey Island games
Maniac Mansion 1 & 2 :ok: |
a greatest game series list would never be complete without a mention of doom, not sure if 2 games really counts as a series but hey, they were both awesome!!!

Heroes of might and magic
Might and magic Fallout Baldur's gate The elder scrolls (Arena, Daggerfall, Morrowind) Warlords UFO |
The first two Indiana Jones games. I try to pretend The Infernal Machine and The Emperor's Tomb never happened, though...
|
Metal gear solid series is by far my favorite. The story line sooooo owns
|
Final Fantasy..... :Brain:
Might and Magic Civilization (even though it doesn't work on my comp now....) |

Street Rods one and two.
I love pretending to be a car junkie :D |
With a game, you don't really pretend. You perform it. Y'know, like a clown, jester, or a professional athelete. Same difference, right?
|
Quest for Glory, without a doubt. I love those games <sniff> <gets all teary> :tai:
|
Metroid
Zelda Tales Soul Blazer FF RE Doom Myst Metal Gear/Solid |

and further (I also wonder if a series of 2 really count as a series, but what the heck) - Tomb Raider! - Commander keen series - LBA 1 & 2 - Maniac Mansion 1&2 - The GTA series (haven't played San Andreas yet though) - Most of the Need For Speed were good as well (well, at least the first 3) - Monkey Island 1 & 2 ofcourse (after that it all went pretty much downhill) - Simon the Sourceror (I'm one of those few people that actually likes Simon the Sourceror 3D) - Prince of Persia (still have to play sands of time and that new one though, but they looked good) - oh yeah, forgot to mention Discworld (all 3 of them are good, but this first is still the best though) probably some more |

I love every great series. Exspecially Quest for Glory series. Its cool to play the same hero in every adventure.(I just started to play it again...with a thief character).

Lovin the Books of Kyrandia series. New character in every game, but the world created is pure brilliance. :D
|
Quest For Glory, especially the EGA-version of nr. 1. Haven't seen any other series that's quite as cool.
|
Baldurīs Gate
Fallout The īLancerīseries (Starlancer and Freelancer) If Renegade never happened then the C&C games. X-COM... all of the other than the shooter one (Interceptor was an understated great). |
I would say final fantasy, but I'm not sure if it's actually a series, since they've just released the first sequel and I think they're releasing a sequel to 7, aren't theY?

or, to clarify if you're confused, "dot dot dot". This indicates bewilderment or disbelief. |
Or just an ellipsis.:)

Wait. I totally forgot Homeworld!
They're good also. What about three question marks? |

I really like the Mortal Kombat games (although after they got to the 3D part - after the trilogy - it got worse).
Broken Sword - just got part 3 (couldn't play it yet) Caesar - part one was a bit off, but it started it all Civilization Monkey Island - although the Escape (4) was... well... Simon the Sorcerer - even part 3D was still fun, but that wasn't really Simon anymore Mario Brothers - from the old one screen game in a factory to the latest platformer (it's fun) |
The Super Mario series is the very definition of fun. ...I was playing Paper Mario 2, you gotta love how lightly they take themselves. The Bowser platform sequence was pure game humour gold.
|
Thief, Command and Conqueir, Warcraft, Silenthill
|
Warcraft
Diablo Heretic Doom Half-Life Halo Monkey Island Indiana Jones Gabriel Knight Elder Scrolls Command & Conquer Alien VS. Predator The list goes on, but those are probably my faves. |
I'm partial to the Ultima series, the Wing Commander series, the Civilization series (although that's more like several upgrades of the same game), and , of course, the Il-2 series.

They're making a sequel to M&LSS? And yea, Secret of Mana rocks, as does Illusion of Gaia.
|
Mega Man x series is best.

Magic Candle. Monkey Island. Baldur's Gate.
|
Civilization
Legend of Zelda Age of Empires Mega Man X those are just a few |
I was playing Farcry earlier today and it reminded me of Red Faction.
This was about Red Faction not Farcry. |
