Has anyone see this: http://www.the-overcats.org/game.php?id=3180. It's the real sequel to Another World (Out of this World) although it was only released on Sega CD so if anyone wants to play, you'll have to download an emulator too.

TheVoid 18-08-2004 11:13 AM

How great this game is.....
Remember I borrowed my original game to a friend, and he lost the manual...
I forgave him only after founding a new copy on the Web :)

RADiOHEAD 18-09-2004 04:43 AM

When I run this it runs extreeemely slow and laggy and the sound doesn't work...

I have
-AMD Athlon 2500+
-512 DDR RAM
-Geforce 4 MX

Is there anyway I can get it to run smooth...

FreeFreddy 18-09-2004 05:06 PM

You can increase the CPU-cycles in DosBox with CTRL+F12 and decrease with CTRL+F11.
If that doesn't help, it could be the GeForce 4 MX (440?), they're pretty slow.

Thanks for bringing this to my memory. I remember reading reviews about the game back then, but soon forgot about it as it's console only... Time to find an emulator, I wonder how the story continued. :)

sixfrost 03-11-2004 02:23 PM

I am trying to find a way to unSit that file on a windows machine now. If i get it done - I'll host the file and post a link. But if anyone has an easier way - like a ready file or manual - it would be most welcomed.

Sean 03-11-2004 05:13 PM

That link for the sega cd ROM doesnt work, well at my end at least.

Mad-E-Fact 04-11-2004 08:20 AM

underdogs have it too, the game's called "heart of the alien".

Iron_Scarecrow 22-11-2004 06:01 AM

Actually it's called Out of This World. I had to turn off my Firewall to download it from there, I didnt know we had it. I downloaded it 20 minutes ago.

Jester2k 02-12-2004 03:55 PM

has anyone besides me noticed the similarity to the beginning of this story and the beginning of half-life?

It did occured to me, but I doub that AW was inspiration for HF. In AW you are transported to (well) another world. In HF aliens come the other way.

But HF story ith enemies coming up, wandering around, being captured and finaly learning long jump did show again in other 1st person shooting, at least I tought so. (like Undying)

Rogue 02-12-2004 06:19 PM

He meant similarities about experiment going wrong, if I'm not mistaken.

I used to play this game on amiga. It took me some time to get used to commands. But sequal to this from the same developer, Flashback (also available on the abandonia) is the game I had to finish multiple times.

Kind of really nice side-scrolling adventure.

WARLOCK 28-12-2004 06:37 PM

HI all,

Uh... I run the game and it's really slow and laggy. I've read a post saying that it was possible to increase the cycles of I don't know what, using CTRL+F12 or CTRL+F11 to decrease. I try both combination in the game but it doesn't work.

At what moment do I have to do this or IS THERE ANOTHER SOLUTION???

I have

AMD XP 2200+
512 DDR
GeForce 4 Ti4200
Win XP Home

Tom Henrik 28-12-2004 07:29 PM

The topic was about a program called DosBox. It enables you to play the game in a real DOS environment. In this program you can increase the speed with CTRL + F12.

You can find the program here:

Guest 12-01-2005 02:17 PM

Guys has anyone found a way of running this in fullscreen on xp? I cant seem to do it and i dont knwo why...

Guest 12-01-2005 02:50 PM

its the same story but you just play from the perspective of the good alien.

another world is brilliant! this game scared the crap out of me when i was young lad watching my brother play it on the amiga. my favorite part is when you get to kick the alien in the nutts!

The Fifth Horseman 13-01-2005 09:08 AM

I have a Windows-based version of the game. Was released under title of "Out of this world", and operates in W95,98 and XP without any problems. Also, at a good speed and with sounds.

I think I will submit it to Kosta.

Quelake 16-01-2005 04:36 PM

My screen just goes black too, after I give the program the correct code....weird....any suggestions?

thnx!

Jay 17-01-2005 12:28 AM

Yep if the scrren goes black the code is wrong - this happend on amiga version too. it gives you two chances to get it right , you have to enter the code from the wheel left to right like reading a book.

anyhow , i can't for the life of me remember how to get past the guard after escaping cell and going down the lift to the very bottom, any ideas guys n' gals?

mikah 08-02-2005 10:54 PM

Guys, this isnt working... I just CANīT make it pass the initial black screen. I try at least 50 times and cannot pass the code wheel thingy.

Iīve tried doing it from left to right, just like said in this forum, and nothing. I got the damned weel printed in all the positions, I got the DOS-BOX installed propperly, and still canīt play the thing.

It just goes to the black screen before I put the code on it... and BTW it run smoothly at least in that part :wall:

thanx

Once you walk into the room with that guard, start firing the gun, even tap the button in the transition, a lot of parts in this game require being fast.

About the game running extremely laggy on XP, I have the same problem, but when used in DOS Box it runs perfectly fine, but I miss the fullscreen. I haven't had any problems with the code or anything like that, I just press ok.

Not sure if any body has already mentioned this but you don`t actually need the code wheel. Leave the code blank and ok twice, it starts up just fine.

Another World is an old love of mine, it's really great.
I can play it on windows XP and on DosBox, but I can't get the sound working!!! There's something in French and i have to choose 1-3, but none of them gives sound!

Actually, I think he's talking about the SegaCD sequal to Out of This World/Another World, which was called Heart of The Alien. If anyone has finished Heart of the Alien on the PC could you let me know? I've made it to the point where you and your evil counter-part are roughing each other up, and he's above the pit with the beast, but can't figure out how to throw the switch and drop him in.

I downloaded the windows version from the underdogs and the sound works, but I can't get it to run in full screen, it just blocks. And the window is too small. Does somebody have ANY idea on how to get the sound working (or the windows version in full screen)? Thanks a lot.

:kosta: Thank's for the link. I wantto paly this game soooooo bad. Another World is one of the toughest and greatest side-scrolling games ive ever played. I remember when I was small I had a Genesis and I wanted a game for my birthday. I saw this great gae and I also saw Flashback. I had to decide... I picked flashback. I wanted both game so bad, especially Another World, but I was lucky not to spend $$ on that cheesy Genesis version I played on a Genesis Emulator. I downloaded the PC version form here, it rock's. That DOSBox is a freaking sweet program, it runs the game really good. Thanks Abandonia to bring back memories.

bradders 04-03-2005 12:24 PM

Quality game. I was actually one of the games testers on this when I used to work at US Gold. Aaahhhh the memories. Just downloaded it, can't wait to play it again.

TheChosen 04-03-2005 02:13 PM

A true masterpiece.

:Titan:

UnHoly 12-03-2005 09:53 AM

Do not enter any code. This game doesn't have save game option, and you use codes when you want to get to another chapter, part of game.

The game itself is only about 10MB, the rest are mp3s, as the CD came with a soundtrack you could play in a normal CD player. You can download only the .iso file from the archive, if you don't want to wait and don't care about the music.

slightly different question...

i've go the small window of it to,
when i try to maximies it crashed

i have dosbox but it actually tells me the gamaes needs windows?

i downloaded off another abandonware site maybe ill try this version...

*hint* first scene: swin up!

Rogue 14-04-2005 05:28 PM

Download this DOSBox, and there are instructions on how to configure it and play games. You can set up dos box to start maximised in config file. Just change fullscreen = false to fullscreen = true.

As for code, this version does not require any code. Just press enythign and OK three times (if I remember correctly).

http://uploads.ungrounded.net/content.php?...j=0&w=550&h=345

someone decided it would be a good idea.... doesn't quite capture the feeling of the game though....

IIgs 18-05-2005 07:39 AM

The Super Nintendo version (called "Out of This World") is definitely worth checking out. There's a cool music soundtrack throughout the whole game which not only sounds incredible to this day, but _really_ added to the feel of the game. It made game play feel very cinematic!

The PC, Amiga and Genesis ports don't have any music, except I remember at the beginning and end (and it's not even the same themes...it was very cheesy sounding).

The Apple IIGS port (based on the SNES version) is actually very cool too. You can play full-screen like the PC version, but with more frames of animation and more sound-effects than the SNES version. It also has the same musical soundtrack as the SNES....but the SNES one sounded better musically (they opted not to use wavetable synthesis in the GS port to speed things up).

You can try a web-based emulator for the Apple IIGS port:

http://www.virtualapple.com/outofthisworlddisk.html

Just set it to "Transwarp" speed. Have fun!

IIgs 18-05-2005 07:51 AM

...to add to the above,

If you're playing by keyboard, "CTRL" will start the game (handy since it seems to crash after the scrolling opening Star Wars credits).

Also "CTRL" is to run and shoot. "Shift" is to jump. And movement is through the numeric keypad: 8 = up, 4 = left, 6 = right, 2 = down. Pause game is "ESC".

ps - The Apple IIGS is *not* a Macintosh, it was the last in the Apple II line (you know, the II+, IIe, IIc).

Remember to click on "Transwarp" speed button, and to swap in disk #2 use the buttons below in the emualtor.

hey, know this might sound stupid but i dont know how to enter any code into the code wheel. what keys do i press in order to change symbols and then enter them?

deefunkt 15-06-2005 01:27 PM

This game is public domain these days...why can't it be downloaded?

The Fifth Horseman 15-06-2005 02:09 PM

Not public domain. It's protected by ESA. And this means... you cannot get it from here. ESA once gave us permission to host some games here, and we have been asking for permission for each of the titles protected by them ever since. However, no system is perfect and a few games slipped through on the site that none of the Abandonia staff was aware that they have been ESA-protected. As their reaction (you'd probably call it revenge or retaliation - both of these are dead on), ESA took back all the permissions we ever had.

The soonest any of us can ask for getting the permissions again is about 7 or 8 months from now. However, this does not mean we will get them. :not_ok:

Meanwhile, search www.the-underdogs.org for "Out of this World", which is a Windows port of this game. Almost exactly the same, except music is not as great as in the original.

The Fifth Horseman 04-07-2005 02:46 PM

Underdogs have only Out of this World, a Win-based port of AW. The good thing is that it works on XP with no problems, the bad - well, the music aint so great there.

Tom Henrik 13-07-2005 04:42 PM

Added some excellent scans for the game. Thanks go to Alex for providing the images :ok:

ac 15-07-2005 04:24 AM

Strangely enough, the game was recently ported to the gameboy advance(with the approval of Eric Chahi it seems), and the rom can be downloaded legally at www.foxysofts.com. I played through the entire game using the VisualBoyAdvance gba emulator, and it seems to be the same as I remember it. I haven't played the version that was avaliable here, however, and I can't tell you if it is identical.

The Fifth Horseman 15-07-2005 11:23 AM

Pardon, but what do you think makes the rom legal? If the game was re-released in a GBA version, then it is still sold - ergo the rom is in fact WAREZ!!!

Davius 15-07-2005 01:14 PM

I first played Another World on a friend's Sega Megadrive, and then bought the Amiga version myself a while later. The graphics and music were really impressive, and I remember that it was quite challenging (and unforgiving at times), but fun to play all the same.

Thanks for pointing out what the sequel was called and where we could get it from. I'd heard that there was meant to be a sequel, but I never did get to play it back then... probably because it was only on SegaCD and referred to as being the sequel to Out of this World.

Anyway, I just played it and it's great to finally see the continuation of the story! :D

aagr 22-07-2005 12:02 PM

This game is rated only 3. This is soooo incorrect rating.

One of the best games ever.

Heart of an Alien is great game too, the only true sequel.

Amayirot Akago 22-07-2005 06:39 PM

The game is simply a landmark in computer gaming history. The style and presentation is second to none compared to other games from that era; hell, even compared to today's games. Original gameplay, mouthwater inducing visuals... and very frustrating too. The whole game adds a whole new dimension to the phrase "trial and error". Nonetheless a classic and definitely worth checking out.

Just so happened to play through the Amiga version yesterday (emulated ;) ). I was surprised to find it was a whole lot shorter than the other versions.

I've played Heart Of The Alien as well; definitely worth checking out if you liked (or better: finished) this game. It tells you the story of the rogue alien that helps you out during Another World, and places you in his shoes in a whole new dangerous adventure. The CD for Heart of the Alien also contains a great semi-improved version of Out Of This World.

If you like this game, these are also worth checking out:

Flashback
Oddworld: Abe's Odyssee/Exodus
Heart of Darkness (made by Eric Chahi, no less!)
Bermuda Syndrome
OnEscapee (Amiga exclusive game that captures the original Another World atmosphere pretty well, and is equally frustrating  )

Oh, and almost forgot: you can download a fantastic recreation of Another World's intro here.

aagr 23-07-2005 06:31 AM

Great intro! Thanks for the link, Akago. :kosta:

Amayirot Akago 26-07-2005 07:12 PM

Great news! OnEscapee has been made into a PC version, which can be downloaded FOR FREE from the creators' site. More info in this thread:

On the page it says:
3.Unzip US BIOS ROM v2.0 (usbios2.zip -- from "Documentation/Extras" area on game page) to the same directory
6. If the game doesn't work or you don't get music/sound, try other versions of US BIOS ROM (one good place to get it is the Eidolon's Inn at http://www.eidolons-inn.de/sega/segacd_dev.html)

... but I cant find us bios rom v2.0 enywhere.

For future reference: BIOS roms are ILLEGAL. Do no ask for it again.

No download? :'(

The Fifth Horseman 23-08-2005 02:29 PM

No. And don't whine about it, it's not Abandonia's fault. ESA ordered us to take it down (along with couple dozen other titles) or they will take our site down _permamently_. Guess what was the preferred option?

ShadowXIX 28-08-2005 08:08 PM

:D O how I loved this game back on the SNES though It was called ''Out of this World '' this game and ''Flashback'' were two of my all time favs with out of this world in a slight lead.

These games really drew me in the were more like Movies in that aspect. I more then once played through this game without saving or dying back in those days.

Heck this game was the reason I bought a Sega CD as that was the only way to play the sequel and I really wanted to know how the story ended.

:ranting: Man what a crappy game the second one turned out to be I never even made it through the whole game it was such a load plus they killed off the hero from the first game in the begining :ranting: Well atleast the sequel came with this gem of a game aswell

MdaG 28-08-2005 08:12 PM

If you grew attached to Lester in the first game you might be alittle let down in Heart of a Alien's intro  . It starts off right where the first one ended with Lester being carried away by his alien friend on that dragon thing.

I never finished the game though it was much harder then Another world IMHO.

If you guys like Another World, you should check out Heart Of Darkness.
Amazing game, which we can't put on the site unfortunatly due to it being Interplay.

There is no link for this game because it is ESA. That means you can't download it anywhere.

:ok:

Can you set something straight for me?

If a game is protected by the ESA, can you buy it from the ESA?

No. The ESA merely protects the game, you still have to contact the respective publisher/developer on how to buy the game.

Jordan 09-12-2005 06:35 PM

So if you wanted to purchase a game that was protected by the ESA, you would have to contact the person that made the game and make a paypal transaction or something to that person?

The Fifth Horseman 12-12-2005 03:19 PM

Nope. It's more complicated, and quite unlikely to achieve.

That's what most people suspected, including Eric Chahi ;)

Alas, he survives and in a good shape at that. It's just later in the game that he - SPOILER WARNING - suffers electrocution and dies while saving his alien friend.

BugMeNot 17-03-2006 04:53 PM

Don't know if this is allowed or not (sorry), but you can download the Sega Genesis (See: Gens) versions of Another World a.k.a. Out of this World and the sequel Heart of the Alien at the-underdogs.org.
The music is MUCH better then in the DOS version.

The Fifth Horseman 14-04-2006 11:08 AM

Yep, it was never released for PC's.

SupSuper 15-04-2006 08:30 PM

In case nobody noticed, a Collector's Edition of the game was recently released (basically just improved graphics) and is up for sale on the website: http://www.anotherworld.fr/anotherworld_uk/index.htm

Guest 23-04-2006 02:15 PM

This Game is one of the best Sega MegaDrive 16-bit games.
But u know nuthin' about this game if u haven't played Flashback (by delphine software too) !!!

The Fifth Horseman 24-04-2006 10:41 AM

Well, we _do_ have Flashback here on the site too... and as soon as the updaters get around to the review I submitted, we'll have the CD version up as well.

Honestly, though, Flashback is really an adventure game using a platform-game engine. Another World is more action-based and dynamic. Flashback takes several hours to complete even when you know what to do (2 to 4 hours, give or take a few minutes), while Another World can be completed in 15 minutes (again, if you know the game like your own underwear LOL ).

Guest 23-05-2006 12:12 PM

Something you guys might find useful: Eric Chahi, the author of Another World has released a Collector's Edition of Another World, with higher-res backgrounds, improved sounds, etc. Costs 7 euros, and is available at http://www.anotherworld.fr/anotherworld_uk/index.htm

The Fifth Horseman 24-05-2006 02:21 PM

Played the demo of it. Good old Another World, just with prettier graphics (and, of course, it now works under Windoze). A must have for any fan of the original.

WOW cool thanks for the heads up on this :ok: I love Another World.

Eric Chahi seems like a pretty cool guy I think he was giving away a rom version for the GBA not too long ago for Free. You needed some kind of special GBA cartridge though that could have downloaded content put on it.

The Fifth Horseman 26-05-2006 02:24 PM

Or a GBA emulator :D

Actually, a link to the GBA version has been posted somwhere in this thread a while back.

Guest_JJ_* 06-07-2006 04:58 AM

Hey guys!

LOL!

Was going to post about the NEWER version of the game OOTW but see that I'm already beaten!

LOL...

Some things I want to bring you up to date on:

1. Heart of the Alien is NOT the sequel to OOTW! Eric Chahi said that Virgin MADE him do a sequel to it--also, he stated that it was just about the worst game that was ever made as well. Finally, he mentioned that he had plans on doing a sequel!
2. OOTW has been ported to a certain brand of cell phone--read about it at magic-productions.com
3. Someone HAS done a GBA version of OOTW! (And I've played that version too!)
4. Finally, the BEST NEWS OF ALL TIME!! The same someone who did the GBA version of OOTW, has wracked his poor little brain to pieces--and as a result, he has created Heart of the Alien FOR THE COMPUTER! (STRAIGHT for the computer--no emulator necessary!)

I played it last year, and it had a few tiny bugs in it, but by now, hopefully, that has been fixed.

(Look for "Heart of the Alien REDUX.")

(Warning: Off topic)

Wing Commander: Privateer has been remade and can now be played on WINDOWS XP!

(Look for "Wing Commander: Privateer remake".)

...Consider yourself...updated!

Bye all--and have a WONDERFUL day!

How is HOTA not a sequel? It picks up RIGHT where the original game left off. Just because Chahi never *planned* on doing a sequel doesn't mean that it isn't.

That'd be new to me...

I thought the protagonist (don't remember his name) was lost in the alien world and that's it. Sort of a mean ending.
Are you really sure?

And yes, Flashback isn't the sequel to Another World...

Could someone tell me how to download the game if it is possible? I'm just too stupid.

The Fifth Horseman 25-01-2008 07:10 PM

Sorry, but you can't download it. It was recently re-released (the 11th Anniversary Edition thing), and barring the added options for more detailed graphics and enchanced sound it is identical with the original.
As such, we could not continue offering the original for download, so if you want this game you'll have to buy it (it's worth it!).

Actually, that last bit is not entirely true.

A couple years back, a GameBoy Advance version of Another World was released as freeware. The author (with permission and some help from Erich Chahi), released the game to played on emulators and GBA flash carts. You can find it here...

http://www.foxysofts.com/index.php?l...ba/anworld.inc

It's at a lower resolution obviously because of the GBA screen, but it plays just like the PC original, has the cinemas, the music, and everything that made the original both fun and frustrating. It doesn't look as nice as the PC original, or the remake, but it's legally free, and still a pretty good port.

The Fifth Horseman 26-01-2008 11:31 AM

That one is for a non-PC platform. This makes a difference, even though the game can be played on PC using an emulator.

Enter Another World at the address bar of any search-supporting browser, and you will be directed to www.anotherworld.fr. Then read, read, read, ...aaand... voila: buy it while it's hot!

Geezer 02-02-2008 03:11 PM

I know this is nit picking but is there any way that you can set it up so that when someone searches for "Out Of This World" that it redirects you to the Another World page? Also might be good to post something to the effect ...

Editors Note: Another World was also released under the name Out Of This World.

Above the review.

Luchsen 02-02-2008 04:44 PM

I would simply add (aka Out of This World) to the game title, but that would break the (currently not available) download link. Has to be done by someone with more permissions than I have.

I looked everywhere, but I cannot find the download link to this game (Another World). I also couldn't find a link to buy this game either (if it's still being sold that is).

The reviewer ended off by saying "so go ahead and download". But how?

Thanks,

Remake!

'Another World' is being re-made by its maker. The remake includes the most complete version of the game, and is as flexible as possible: you can go from the original simple 2D version to a far more complex 3D version - with the exact same content. Full version and demo out, regular patches fix issues.

Cheeseness 20-10-2015 11:50 PM

I remember playing this game for the first time in the early 90s on my Amiga 500. Playing a game like this without the internet or walkthroughs or the kinds of communities that games have now made it such a compelling and exciting experience for me.

I think that this game more than any other is what inspired me to think about what games could be and recognise that as a medium, games can be a form of artistic expression :)

I'm currently researching for and article I'm writing about the impact Another World has had on its players and am collecting memories/stories/thoughts in this questionnaire.

I've also conducted an interview Another World's creator, Eric Chahi that I plan to publish alongside this article once I've completed my research and have written it.

I'm new to Abandonia, so apologies if this sort of post is inappropriate.

arete 21-10-2015 09:06 PM

All the best for your research, and welcome to Abandonia! Hope you spend many happy hours here ^_^

Another World has always been a good memory for retro-gamers.

I found some interesting videos about Another world:

This video shows the cold blood, training and coolness of the player!

This video shows mistakes for the fuss, anxiety and pressure not to make mistakes. The player looks like me...

This awesome video by the Polish team is pretty cool and polished. Too bad it lacked some details, but it would be cool if it even had an Another World movie.

Mystvan 23-07-2017 06:02 PM

Another World 2

I found a very interesting site on the sequel to the game Another World: Another World 2.

Quote:

Heart of the Alien picks up right after the end of the first game, with the alien, now nicknamed Buddy, landing himself and Lester in his old village which has been demolished by the dictating forces. Through flashbacks, the viewer now witnesses how everything came to be, and how Buddy ended up in the prison cell along with Lester after a long hard fight in the village. It turns out that Buddy is actually the chief of his village, and that he is fighting an evil ruler identified as "the red eyed alien". It is this evil mastermind that is behind all the pain and suffering in this world, and when walking through his destroyed home, Buddy decides to hunt this red eyed alien down and settle things once and for all. Lester is still wounded from his fight at the end of the first game, and is left in the hut to rest. Chahi had originally intended for the whole game to be played out during the events of the original from Buddy's perspective, but this is all done in a flashback cutscene setting up the game instead. While it is interesting to see some of the events that supposedly took place, the direction of these cutscenes leaves a lot to be desired. Once the flashbacks are over with, you get your first objective, to find Buddy's whip.

Perhaps the greatest sin this game commits is the execution of Lester, and the way it handles this event. This was initially an idea suggested by Chahi early in development, but quickly discarded because he felt it gave the game a defined conclusion which was conflicted with his original intention of having the player draw their own conclusions and theories to the story. Nevertheless, when Chahi was gone, Interplay decided to use the idea to climax the story. It is here you find the greatest flaws with the art style and animation because unintentionally, Lester's death is a hilarious performance of Looney Toons proportions. When Buddy is knocked out by the evil red eyed alien, he decides it's time to kick some butt and jumps onto the back of the red eyes villain. Lester then proceeds to cover the alien's eyes and hit him with hammer punches to the top of his head in true Bugs Bunny fashion. Unfortunately for Lester, he is thrown into a force field where he is zapped to death while his skeleton is flashing as he dances the deadly samba till he can dance no more. To illustrate the impact this gruesome event has, the game continues on without making any further mention of Lester until the end cut scene, treating it as an afterthought. You eventually catch up with ol' red eye, and the final showdown with him is played for laughs to further run the story into the ground.

Heart of the Alien is a disaster from an artistic standpoint, and a mediocre, broken mess of a game. Quickly after it was released, Chahi made a public statement that the title did not represent his vision of the world he crafted and disowned it altogether from being treated as an official sequel. One of the few things that carry over is the music. Composed by none other than Tommy Tallarico, it uses a very atmospheric though more aggressive approach to go along with the added amount of action found in the game. The best feature of this game is the fact that they bundled in Another World for free and allowed Freitas to create a new redbook soundtrack specifically for it. When you finish the first game, it automatically goes into the second game melting them together as one, which would have been a great idea had the sequel been worth playing. Sadly, once the intro for Heart of the Alien rolls around, you are better off shutting off the game and not letting it influence your mind.

Though only officially released on SEGA CD, it would eventually be reverse engineered and portable to other consoles by Gil Megidish under the name Heart of the Alien Redux. Using SDL library language, the game can potentially be ported to homebrew capable system such as Wii, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Dreamcast and GP32.

Source: Hardcore Gaming 101: Another World

Sad ending of the main character of the original game. He did not deserve such a fate and I agree with the reviewer of the game. It would be cool if he could return to planet Earth or at least he had a more dignified and less hilarious and ridiculous destiny. I highlighted some excerpts from the review in bold.
