taikara 07-08-2005 12:01 AM

What electives haven't I taken would be a better question for me

moogle 07-08-2005 12:04 AM

LOL At my school at least, they only allow you to take 2....><
Oh, and if you count Middle School, Art and Pottery also.

Puffin 07-08-2005 12:09 AM

Uhm.. about 50% of the courses I take at school are elective. Next semester it will be Italian, Disney english, and some other stuff i dont' remember right now.

Disney english
 Whats that?

Puffin 07-08-2005 12:11 AM

I don't know, really. I think that we'll watch movies, then analyse characters and stuff, just in english.

moogle 07-08-2005 12:16 AM

Ok...thats kind of a weird idea...no offense...

Disney english,

You get to watch Disney films :Brain:

Lion King, Bambi, etc. Sounds brilliant. :bleh:

Kon-Tiki 07-08-2005 12:52 AM

Pottery and Basic Science when I was 12, Art when I was 13 (but that was focusing too much on technique and lametardish 'art' - the stuff you'd find in modern art museums - so I quite often failed that, as my ideas weren't concidered 'art', or they didn't even matter, as all it was, was technique), then typing class somewhere, and as a non-class, but after-school activity with some teachers and students, coördination runs when I was 17 and 18 (they're that you get a map and a route, and on several spots on that route, you have to clip your card, all as fast as possible)

moogle 07-08-2005 02:23 AM

Ahhh, yes Typing/Tech class, being as our teacher knew absolutedly nothing abut computer, I sat around and played with photo shop, downloaded game deoms onto disks with the schools uper duper internet, and watched movie trailers....what a class, what a class...

blastradius14 07-08-2005 03:26 AM

Personal Dynamics is even better than Disney English. You watch movies, and do nothing. You even get to sit on couches... But I am glad I'm outta High School :D

moogle 07-08-2005 04:43 AM

:D Just think, now you get to write college papers!!! wooohooo!!!

Puffin 07-08-2005 11:00 AM

I'll be taking psychology and philosophy later, and additional english courses. But the system here is different from any other system I know of, and I'm way too tired to explain it here.

MdaG 07-08-2005 11:09 AM

First year 10% is elective, second year 25%, third year 50% and now I'm starting my fourth year and 100% is elective (within the range of technology that is). I'm going to pick courses in computer graphics, image analysis, numerical calculus and network safety.

That reminds me... had philosophy as elective in my last two years of highschool too (first one rather sucked, as the teacher didn't understand it herself, the second year was cool), and media the year before that.

swiss 07-08-2005 05:32 PM

I took English and French first. After a few years experiencing that French isn't my language I took English and Biology ... As third and fourth choice (we need to have 4 here in Germany) I took Art and Religion (and the latter was almost my doom)

moogle 07-08-2005 05:38 PM

Wow, theyr are religous classes? Guess Germanys more relaxed bout that stuff than here in the states..... :tai:

swiss 07-08-2005 05:47 PM

the point there is not to be relious as hell to get good marks. It's analysing texts by religious people and stuff like that. somewhat like German classes just without poems.

Kon-Tiki 07-08-2005 06:13 PM

Heh, last year of highschool, I had the most awesome religion teacher. He didn't teach one religion, but he thought us all of them (or at least alot, ranging from cannibals from Papua-New Guinea to sects, going over Christians, Jews, Mormons, the Bobo-people, Raoni from a tribe in the Amazonia, etc) Now that was quite interesting and worth far more than just doing exhegeses.

Puffin 07-08-2005 06:22 PM

I had to choose two of three languages to study, choose from Spanish, French and German. I chose German as no1, and Spanish as no2. But I didn't like Spanish and I failed, so I changed it to French. So I moved Spanish to Electives. If that makes any sense.

swiss 07-08-2005 07:34 PM

I think if I weren't German I wouldn't have learned it ever. I love English and failed learning right French (I tried 4 years and all I remember by now is how to order a hotel room - une chambre pour une nuit s'il vous plait)...

Indignus IV 07-08-2005 07:38 PM

Lets see: french and latin. Thats it. I could take more, but I like becoming multi-lingual. besides, I have a talent with languages (I flatter myself :D )

Danny252 07-08-2005 10:00 PM

electives?
to make this more than a 1 word post, I'll say this.

Doc Adrian 09-08-2005 12:11 PM

back when I was in school my electives were Mythology, Literature, and anything really to do with appreciation of the arts. I wanted to go into International business so I figured the better I knew the arts the better I would be at my job. Besides it was enjoyable to me....unlike Calculus.
