Hi Guys,
I'm learning italian in school and is a begginer. I'm not italian I just learn it. For one of my assignments I need some help. It should be really easy for you if you italaian or knows the language but it would be a really big deal for me. Ok I have to write the furniture in a room. I have to use infront of,next to, behind etc. I have done the best I can. Could you please correct it and insert the words etc. Some times I have written the words in english( in capital) where I don't know how to write in italian. Here we go. Best of all it would be great if you can teach me where I went wrong cause I like to learn. Help would be really appreciated.

La porta e vicino scaffale.
il commodino a destra letto.
La lampada e ON THE scrivania.
THE COMPUTER e ON THE scrivania.
La sedia e dietro scrivania.
La finestra sinistra armadio.
Le tende ARE ATTACHED TO THE finestra.
il televisore e di fronte a divano.
il tappetto e IN THE MIDDLE OF THE camera.
il poster e ON THE WALL.
lo stereo e ON THE scaffale.
SPACESHIP e all'angolo camera.

I'm also not Italian, but I know some basics, so I'll write how I think it should be. TheVoid and Quintopotere are Italian so I guess they'll correct us both! :) I'll connect your sentences with linking words as well because it sounds better that way.

La porta E vicino lo scaffale e il commodino si trova a destra di letto. La lampada e il computer sono sulla scrivania. La sedia E indietro di scrivania e la finestra si trova a sinistra dell'armadio. Le tende sono affite (I think) sulla finestra. La TV E in fronte del divano e il tappeto E in centro della camera. Il poster E sul muro mentre lo stereo E sullo scaffale. Veicolo spaziale (there has to be more appropriate word) E nell'angolo di camera.

There you go. Note that I have written third person singular of auxilliary verb ''to be'' with capital ''E'' so you could diversify it from ''e'' which means ''and'' in Italian. Also it has to be written with accent but I don't know how to type that on the keyboard. There is probably a number of mistakes because my Italian is somewhat rusted right now, but that's how I think it should be (so don't hold me responsible for your possible bad mark :D ). I was always bad at prepositions.

Le tende sono attacate sulla finestra i think and the other i think is good Overlord.I know italian from my 3. year but i'm not italian and i didn't go in italy

TheVoid 06-09-2005 12:38 PM

The language is familiar to me :D

La porta ? vicino allo scaffale.
il comodino ? a destra del letto.
La lampada ? sulla scrivania.
Il computer ? sulla scrivania.
La sedia ? dietro la scrivania.
La finestra ? a sinistra dell'armadio.
Le tende sono attaccate alla finestra.
il televisore ? di fronte al divano.
il tappetto ? in mezzo alla camera.
il poster ? sul muro.
lo stereo ? sullo scaffale.
L'astronave ? nell'angolo della camera.

This should be correct....I hope. And Overlord's try was quite good, in fact.

Thanks Void, but now when I see how it should be... Duh! Too many mistakes, my Italian teacher would probably pass out if she saw that. :)

Member? Not likely. Nor would I want that, she was a very good teacher. I mean, she still is. At least I hope so, that is! Darn you, Raffles, now I got it all messed up! :D

In fact I am.

Overlord, I'm highly disappointed by you. Please write 10 sentences in past tense plural about how disappointed I am, in Italian, of course, and hand it in by Tuesday.

I passed out.

1. My teacher wouldn't call me Overlord. Never. (at least I hope so  )
2. My Italian teacher couldn't speak English (''Hey, teacher, you're a quick learner'')
3. And teacher, I could hardly make plural sentences about how disappointed YOU are. You should know that, for you're a teacher afterall.
4. Now get on your feet, teacher! :bleh:

:D
