YES!
MY CHILDHOOD HAS RETURNED!
First my favorite comic book series! Then my favorite game of all time!!
AGGHHAHA!
WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS MY JOY!

P.S. - I already knew of this company, I suggest you try out their Bone game, good game based on a good comic.

Blood-Pigggy 17-09-2005 01:48 AM

You don't understand how attatched I am with Freelance Police.
I've been collecting stuff for it even.
Where's my plush Max?

TheGiantMidgit 17-09-2005 01:49 AM

Yea, I was only a casual fan myself... but I figured this was great news and worth posting.

Fawfulhasfury 17-09-2005 02:08 AM

Crap was just about to post this when I saw it was up. Well here's another article about it. :P http://adventuregamers.com/newsitem.php?id=1061 my ego is hurt. Hey next time you find out something this phenomenal let me post it. :P

TheGiantMidgit 17-09-2005 02:10 AM

Alright, sure. I'm basically a lurker anyhow.

Fawfulhasfury 17-09-2005 02:12 AM

LOL :bleh: I was kidding

TheGiantMidgit 17-09-2005 02:13 AM

Or -were- you?

Anyhow, I suppose this is a good heads up, but I'm betting it'll be awhile before we get any more info on it...

Blood-Pigggy 17-09-2005 02:15 AM

Considering Bone, I'm sure they can make something amazing out of this.
Out Of Boneville was good enough for me to buy it, and these guys seem to know games.

TheGiantMidgit 17-09-2005 02:16 AM

Yep, if Out of Boneville was any indication, they obviously know what they're doing. Now, we have to play the waiting game, unfortunatly, to find out more.

Blood-Pigggy 17-09-2005 02:17 AM

The graphics could be nice too.
In fact, if they use the Bone engine, it'll look almost exactly the same as the cancelled LA one.
Spooky.

MrBackAlleySka 17-09-2005 02:33 AM

Man. this is excellent news. I was an idle fan, but I admit I had all my love in Max. I LOVE Max! Used to have a Max keychain, but sadly lost it. I always watched the animated series, and I had played "Hit the Road" So many times...Man, this is excellent news hehe

Bobbin Threadbare 17-09-2005 02:38 AM

This is old news to me.
But still excellent.

gorkur 17-09-2005 02:42 AM

Animated series???

Yes, a new Full Throttle game and a new Day Of The Tentacle game would be brilliant :Brain: .

Can't wait for that day. :ok:

Blood-Pigggy 17-09-2005 03:14 PM

Haha.
You just said that to be special didn't yah?

As for the "not doing Freelance Police"
Freelance Police was always a kinda tag line for them, so I win!

Reup 17-09-2005 03:44 PM

Great stuff. Let's hope this doesn't wind up as the third failure at producing a sequel to a superb game :ok:

Blood-Pigggy 17-09-2005 03:53 PM

The first one was the sequel they promised like almost right after S&M was released all those years ago?
And the second one is the 2004 cancellation?

Reup 17-09-2005 04:09 PM

Both of those died before having a chance to live, but here's hoping third time's the charm! Telltale certainly has experience with the characters, as the studio was largely formed from members of the Sam & Max Freelance Police team, who left LucasArts shortly after their game was canned.

Blood-Pigggy 17-09-2005 04:16 PM

Strange.
It was shortly after they made S&M Hit The Road, where they said there was a chance they would make a sequel soon.

Of course they never really announced, or probably never started development, so it isn't really a cancelation.

Reup 17-09-2005 04:18 PM

I must admit I don't know how reliable www.samandmax.net is, but they seem knowledgable enough... Still I hope they hang in there this time :ok:

Blood-Pigggy 17-09-2005 04:25 PM

They probably will.
This is a independant company with only 1 game under it's belt (I think), so cancelling their second game would be pure folly.
Besides, I don't think they have enough money to risk a cancellation. :D

Sorry to be such a pain in the behind. But this company is most certainly not poor.
It's got Texas Hold 'Em which I don't know much about. Then there's Bone: Out From Boneville. It's just been released and you can download it now. Some ex-LucasArts employees (the decent ones) helped on this project. It's a point n' click adventure game. I've yet to download it for it's 75mb.

Double Fine: Psychonauts. They're debut game Psychonauts avaliable now. Adventure
Autumn Moon: A company made of ex-LucasArts emplyees. A Vampyre Story. Adventure.

There used to be a new update at www.scummbar.com.

and grim fandango 2.

PrejudiceSucks 18-09-2005 12:34 PM

GF2 would be sweet, although this looks pretty good. There was also actually a cartoon of Sam and Max, I saw it once on channel 4. It was pretty damn hilarious.

@Stebbi: One of the reasons the Scummbar closed was due to the reality that there wasn't going to be a Monkey Island 5. Gabez (Scummbar webmaster) is now continuing his Indy Jones site. I helped by reviewing the Last Crusade. It'll be on there when he's finished the site. :P

As for Grim2 I havn't heard much about that.

@Reup: I sue you $100 000 000! :bleh: It's a cool pic though. :ok:

Blood-Pigggy 18-09-2005 04:05 PM

Monkey Island 5 was somewhat of a joke there, they organized some sound bytes and other stuff, to fool yall.
Ha.

Bobbin Threadbare 18-09-2005 05:38 PM

That was actually an April Fools scam created by LucasArts in which you bought a box (supposedly MI5) Which really had a special box and a added CD with the joke in it. But so they don't feel ripped off they put Monkey 4 in the box aswell. This was only released in America (I think).:P This is the box:

Blood-Pigggy 18-09-2005 06:46 PM

They had it in the US too, it was cancelled sadly.
It was actually pretty good.

Bobbin Threadbare 19-09-2005 08:17 AM

ThIt was also on in Australia. (Foxtel subscribers only) It was on Fox Kids. That station's been shutdown. They only played the Christmas episode (Merry Bloody Christmas) once on TV because the villan's hand got chopped off. And had blood. I'm trying to download the episodes since they won't come out on DVD.

Apocalypse Dude 19-09-2005 10:58 AM

Why didn't I read this before...

:Brain: WooHoo, a new Sam & Max game, this is what I've been waiting for for years!!!

Bobbin Threadbare 19-09-2005 01:13 PM

Perhaps you should support them so te game gets finished by buying their new game. Bone. 20 American bucks to unlock the whole game.

Frodo 19-09-2005 02:21 PM

I have this nice ring that I'm willing to trade for the game.
Think they would go for it? :D

Bobbin Threadbare 19-09-2005 03:23 PM

If you're talkling about Bone, Telltale has a different system of buying games.

1. You download the whole game free.
2. The only part you can play is the demo sort of thing.
3. You pay online and you get a registration key in an e-mail.
4. You click customer services on the menu sort of thing when you load the game.
5. Type in the key.
6. You can now play the full game.

This also ensures that it's harder for people to pirate. Unless you wanna sell the ring for 20 bucks, I suggest you find another way. OR you could donate the 20 bucks to Teltale, then pirate the game. But seriously, don't do that. It's just plain dumb. :P

Sean 19-09-2005 04:13 PM

Yes but in monkey island 4 i think when you got to the voodooo lady she say's she has a five game contract at lucas art....so that was the only thing that keeps me in the hope!

Bobbin Threadbare 19-09-2005 05:21 PM

@Stebbi: Yes, there may very well be.

If there is another Monkey Island game it won't be made by LucasArts (if it's announced in about five years). It also needs to be spoken about with the head honcho. Ron Gilbert himself. Ron'll probly join a company and convince them to start production on an MI5.

@Magic: I really suggest you buy it. I even have the soundtrack. (That's how informed I am.)

@Everyone: Bone Music Extractor And File Dumper Announced!
That was quick. Rip music and stuff from Bone. Download program here.

Spoonman 19-09-2005 05:37 PM

MI 3 and 4 were kind of disappointing (it was practically the same game with just new graphics which were not as cute imho), so I'm not at all that curious about any followups on those games.

But it would be VERY nice to see a new Sam&Max game, I hope it will be able to be as good (or even better?), funny and smart-witted as the first one.

S&M video cartoons?? Hmm let's have a looksearch for those :)

Magic, it's quite a good game. Kinda like Maniac Mansion and Simon The Sorceror. You can get it quite cheap on eBay, if you're interested.

MI3? Disapointing? That's my second fave MI game. How dare you say that. Monkey 4 was sh*t though.

As for getting episodes, Limewire's your best bet. Not on WinMX.

Look at this crazy thing I found on [CGA]:
Quote:

or the rest there are three new Master System games available packed in our user-friendly installer so it shouldn't be a problem to get them working. The other four new games are PC Games, and I can tell you we aren't talking about just some regular games because the games in question are Crusader: No Regret, Full Throttle (heavy download, almost 200MB), The Settlers and Universe!
Are they crazy? They'll get sued for putting that up.

Spoonman 19-09-2005 09:09 PM

Yeah I found that one too, I believe there were rumors going on that Full Throttle had been released as freeware (or at least they stopped selling it, something like that). I couldn't find any news of it on the official Lucasart site though, so I don't know really..

btw, the download didn't work when I tried it :P

I didn't think MI3 was bad, but it has too much of the same concepts of the former episodes (find a crew, find a ship, meet the same characters..). It just wasn't the same feeling anymore.. but nice graphics and cut-scenes though.

Blood-Pigggy 19-09-2005 09:14 PM

MI3 was the best in my opinion.
I thought MI4 was perfect, EXCEPT for that HORRENDOUS Monkey Kombat.

Bobbin Threadbare 20-09-2005 09:13 AM

@Pigggy: Monkey 2's my favourite one. :D
@Spoonman: Downloads are currently offline at [CGA]. Full Throttle isn't freeware even though LucasArts aren't doing anything with it. It's also not in the store. (73# 13( f@&&07$)

Anyway, we're talking in a thread about Sam And Max's resurrection, yet we're talking about Monkey Island and Full Throttle.

Apocalypse Dude 20-09-2005 09:20 AM

Full Throttle 2 Cancelled

IGN published this article today, claiming that LucasArts has announced the cancellation of Full Throttle: Hell on Wheels. Shortly after that, LucasArts also published a mention on their own website with a quote from Simon Jeffery:

"We do not want to disappoint the many fans of Full Throttle," says Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts, "and hope everyone can understand how committed we are to delivering the best quality gaming experience that we possibly can."
[/quote]

And there you go.

Spoonman. [CGA]The file's ISO means you need DEAMON Tools. Also you might not have enough credits. (I've got 780)

Spoonman 20-09-2005 12:15 PM

Hmm well I know about Deamon tools, but my download was simply said to be corrupted, maybe I should try again then.

Anyway, let's get back to Sam & Max

..of which I don't have much to say actually :P I hope screenshots will be available soon, those of Freelance Police were actually very promising *keeps fingers crossed*

I was wondering if there is room for adventure games in the gaming market. It hasn't been the case for many years now, do you guys think it will work?

Bobbin Threadbare 20-09-2005 02:07 PM

Mojo is the best supplier for these things. As it turns out it's like a series. Like the TV show. http://mixnmojo.com/php/site/gamedb.php?gameid=133

Turns out there's a new Bone game to be made in the future too. The next chapter is Bone: The Great Cow Race Cool name.

Spoonman, Full Throttle wastes 120 credits. You should only get it if you have plenty. Like me, I've got 780.

Fawfulhasfury 20-09-2005 03:51 PM

Yes and after that, they should begin workon the third installment, Bone: Eye of the Storm. But I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Phoneys scheme come to life in the second game. :D I'm one of the lucky fools who actually bought the game. :P

Bobbin Threadbare 20-09-2005 05:18 PM

Quintopotere 20-09-2005 06:21 PM

It's low priced because it doesn't need box art or CDs or manuals. It's download only. That's why it's 20 bucks. It's avaliable in more than English. I think there's four (including english). The game isn't short. Mojo review!

I read another rewiev in which the guy wrote that he finished the game in a bit more than 3 hours: maybe he is an hardcore adventure gamer, but seems too short even for 20$...

And abuot languages I doubt that there is italian...

All in all i think that it's a good game and i'm going to try it, i think just that they sholud give something more!

I hope that Sam&Max will be distributed in a better way...
