Eva02Soul 21-11-2005 11:28 AM

Hi everyone, i'm a 19 year old guy from Australia who loves the old games. I used to have tons of fun playing scorched earth and my shareware version of cannon fodder, and it's cool to relive the magic. Hope to get to know most of you soon.

Quintopotere 21-11-2005 11:37 AM

You're welcome!

Enjoy your time here :ok:

Alf Hari 21-11-2005 11:38 AM

Oh no, you don't! There's only room for ONE 19 y.o. Australian who used to play Scorched Earth in THIS forum!

Just kidding, it's okay, I don't mind; you aren't totally copying me since I never really got into Cannon Fodder, though I've downloaded it twice I think.

A. J. Raffles 21-11-2005 12:24 PM

Welcome.:)

Kearnsy 24-11-2005 11:21 AM

Hello!!! Great to see another Aussie!!!! We have quite a contingent here now!

btw: What state (or territory) are you in?

Eva02Soul 24-11-2005 12:10 PM

South Aus, Kearnsy. You?

BTW, love that avvie. Lenny really wanted that award.

Iron_Scarecrow 24-11-2005 12:15 PM

I so badly want to live in Adelaide. Sydney ain't the best although I very much like my suburb and the 4 surrounding suburbs I frequent but I've been here my whole life. I plan to move after another 7 to 8 years.

By the way my grandmother's name is Eva. Just thought I'd let you know.

Kearnsy 24-11-2005 12:20 PM

He really did!!!

I live Canberra btw. My suberb is great! close to school, tennis courts and the city + it has great land value!

Bobbin Threadbare is from Brisbane if I remember right.

Eva02Soul 24-11-2005 12:24 PM

Very cool. Adelaide is okay, but the whole town seems stuck in a stasis field sometimes. It can get very boring, which is where my friends and Tunza Fun arcades come into the picture. I play things like Max Tune, Initial D and DDR.

Actually, Eva02Soul is a shortened form of Eva_02's soul, my first ever online username. I used to watch an anime on SBS called Neon Genesis Evangelion, and liked it so much I decided on the name.

Timpsi 24-11-2005 12:30 PM

The only thing I know about Adelaide is that it's the gay murder capital.

Hm. Maybe that should have gone to the useless fact thread instead. ;)

Hmm, what does that mean? That the most gay people per capital are killed there or that the most "gay" murders are taking place there? (yes, sort of a bad joke I guess).

Iron_Scarecrow 24-11-2005 12:37 PM

Good thing I'm not gay.

But that's why I want to live in Adelaide (EDIT not the gay murder thing), I'm such a lazy and laid back person. I have only visited it once many many years ago and it was only for a couple days (we were on our way to Kangaroo Island). It just seemed so quiet, appealed to me.

Well our house is easily around 30 years old, made of fibro, and is probably worth $450k, or there about, probably as low as $400k. But when we bought it 17 and a half years ago it cost us either 145k or 175k, one of those two. Houses in Sydney are just way too much.

EDIT Re-reading through that it certainly didn't sound good.

Sebatianos 24-11-2005 12:38 PM

So would an ungay gay have to fear anything in the gay killing capital?

Iron_Scarecrow 24-11-2005 12:42 PM

You'd have to assume so.
I suppose you would have to fear becoming gay.
Or having the same name as a gay person and being confused for them.
Or the gay people getting pissed off and killing all non gays.
Or once all gays are killed everyone gets bored and kills each other.

Maybe I'll stay in Sydney.

efthimios 24-11-2005 01:16 PM

But what have gay people done in that area and are killed? Perhaps more people there are gay but are afraid to accept it and resolve to violence against gays because deep down they are either feeling the are beating their own "gayness" or something like that. Strange thing though if they are not even deep down gay. They should feel glad there are gay men (I guess we are talking about mostly men) since that means more available women for them.

:ot: OK, I will shut up now.

Iron_Scarecrow 24-11-2005 01:22 PM

If gay people who dont want to accept they are gay, are killing gay people, why would they be happy that there are more gay people, cause they would be gay themselves and wouldn't be attracted to these "more women for them".

I am surely not making any sense at all.

If anything the gay people who dont want to accept they are gay would be commiting suicide, as they would be completely disgusted with themselves as they can't accept being gay.

Eva02Soul 24-11-2005 01:24 PM

All I can say on the subject is: I don't kill them. Anyone else I can't vouch for.

Tom Henrik 24-11-2005 02:16 PM

Welcome to all of you. Please don't kill anyone...

Ahh SBS Australia's channel for Anime, Hong Kong action movies and B-grade Euro porn!

...
Anyhoo, Neon Genesis is very cool. I taped all of the Episodes back in the day, now you can the DVDs for about $20 for 2 episodes!!!

This is turning into an Australia discussion forum (hmmm...not a bad idea!)

Iron_Scarecrow 25-11-2005 10:30 AM

I watched all the Hayao Miyazaki Films that they recently showed, actually I missed one, the one they shoed before Porco Rosso. And although Spirited Away seems to be considered his best, and I do like it, but I have to say my favourite is Nausicca. I failed to see Howl's Moving Castle too, I'm dissapointed.

Eva02Soul 25-11-2005 11:16 AM

Yeah, i've seen spirited away only, and I liked it a lot. Another favourite of mine is Akira. I've got the complete manga series of that. All 6 volumes

Iron_Scarecrow 25-11-2005 11:31 AM

Well these films by Hayao are the only anime I've ever really watched, I tried watching the Ghost in the Shell series they showed on thursday but was put off with the limited amounts of clothing the women wear.

Eva02Soul 25-11-2005 11:36 AM

yeah, there were a lot of other good things about it too

Alf Hari 25-11-2005 01:10 PM

If you ignore the wierd style the Japanese Ghost in the Shell animators have, the storyline is actually pretty cool. I think the series still has a few episodes left to go at least. Hopefully they will keep putting more anime on SBS after a lull these last few years when Neon Genesis ended. You have to keep your eye out for the occasional anime movie as well.

I'm still waiting for Advent Children to be released here, as I refuse to get an illegal copy off the internet (don't think I'm some sort of ESA spy sent here to be the moral police, but I just liked the game too much to watch some pirate copy of the movie).

Iron_Scarecrow 25-11-2005 01:20 PM

Well I don't want to watch anime for the very very soft core porn a lot of it seems to contain.

Alf Hari 25-11-2005 01:32 PM

Well Ghost in the Shell isn't really like that, it's just the way the Japanese expect their anime to be. As anime goes it is a good wholesome animation, if you take away all the moral and intellectual issues that it brings up.

efthimios 25-11-2005 01:43 PM

Ghost in the shell is not a port or even a soft porn anime.
It is an action movie with some "artistic" decisions.

Iron_Scarecrow 25-11-2005 01:53 PM

I thought it was a 13 part series.

pablitoh 25-11-2005 02:42 PM
