Well, it been scientifically proven that when a cat decide to stand against a dog, the cat win more often than the dog... Either that mean that a cat is more powerfull than a dog, or more intelligent. I would say the later.

As for intelligence, I think it it differs. Our cat ain't that smart (but cute nevertheless) and is more submissive than dominant, but our neighbours cat is more the other way around.
Same difference goes for dogs I think. But I do believe dogs in general are better listeners\learners, and more capable of understanding what you say to them.

I defenitely prefer cats though, they just do what they like most of the time and are much less dependent of their owner. And they look cute too :)

I'm better with cats, but I have a dog. Cats are more independent, and maybe even more intelligent. Our dog is really smart (when it comes to getting to food), but often she's what you call mind-numbingly stupid. She's cute, though.

Cats rock - I like the way they only hang around humans because it's less effort, whereas dogs would be completely boned without us.

There are no Big cats on the board, like tigers :( I love white tigers :D Cute "little" felines :evil:

Dogs! Cats make me sneeze, and they have claws and like to hurt me. Its also hard to train cats to fetch beers. :beer:

well how bout big kittens? Those lil "cute" felines may purr friendly and then rip off your head in a moment later :evil: But those are the best :D You can pet them better than a little, hard to find fuzzball :P

Well kittens are very playful but once they grow you're bored of playing with them and so are they, so it all works out.

between the two - Cats. They are cuddly and adorable. and are also kind of misterious (they way they look and the way they move...).


I had a canary bird once though. they also rock!!!! he could sign Nothing else matters and impersonate the phone perfectly (which was kind of annoying cause you never knew if it's ringing or if it's just the bird playing with you).

Dogs are more loyal i reckon...i had a cat before...and it just made use of my $ for food then it ran off and a few months later i found it living at this other house down the road...it was heartbreaking...i get along with dogs well - they are more playful...and they just tag along you and you get this nice feeling that you know that you're their hero!

Dogs are better in most ways, but the cats I've had in Russia could easily kill and consume the dogs I've had in the US.

ignoring the fact that this is the third time this poll has been done.....i would have to say cat.........the dogs are stronger, an SUV once hit my dog ....the bumper was all messed up and my dog ran away somewhere, later next day my dog comes home all right and nothing wrong with him.......a cat couldn't possibly survive an SUV

I mean, you aren't going to get some kind of spiritual enlightenment, you aren't going to see more votes for cats and say "Yes, it is fact now!"

I never understand these topics when it has the people in here arguing which are better.
Although nobody has done that so far.

It really depends on your lifestyle. If you are often out, or live where carivores eat pets, cats are better, because they can be kept indoors. As an added bonus, cats are small enough to reach paws into places where mice hide (saves me the trouble of laying down poison).

Dogs that are big enough to scare off coyotes are also big enough to harm children. Dogs also get worse with children as they age. Old dogs and young children are a potential disaster.

Finally, dogs require more care and attention than I can give to them (YMMV).

Cats kick EVERYTHING. Once, a cat smelled like PANCAKES! This makes them win.

I find the opposite. Dogs run around with their tongues hanging out, being loud and generally getting in your face, while a cat lives a life of quiet dignity in the windowsill.

The neighborhood 'Don' (aka Godfather of neighborhood cats) saved me ones from a big 1meter! black dog.
I was 6 or 7 and scared of dogs, the neighborhood 'Don' cat walked towards the big dog and dared it to attack him. The evil dog ran away :D

I really don't know what you're talking about, I couldn't care less about either creature (I personally think birdies are the bomb) but cats smell TERRIBLE.

There is no cat that actually smells good, unless the owner somehow managed to get it in the bath.
Dogs smell nice as long as you stay away from their mouths, their breaths are stinky beyond belief.
At least the kitty creature's mouth is too small to emit a large portion of the stench from whatever body of some dead disgusting creature it has eaten.

It's not the cats themselves that smell awfull, but it's what they mark their territory with.

As for dogs: their fur have a certain scent which I find much stronger than that of a cat, and it gets greasy too.
