Are servers always up, and on which server (of the abandonia ones) are there most people...

what exactly is the limit to playing games on the servers? and LAN means local area network how are people from arround the world playing on a "LAN"?

Well basically if you have home network (which I believe you do) it functions the same way, but you're connected with the people over the internet, it creates a virtual network...

I think so, although you can't take my word for it, the program is only 900kb and the installation is extremely short, and the program is simple to use, so I guess you should try it out by yourself :)

server is allways "turned on"

...theres not servers, its meditated p2p, so you share network with those, who are online- you can play anytime

and every server has same number of availableplayers
try to connect on every, you can always disconnect and conect again
make a topic with exact time, server and game you want to play, or chat in shoutbox.. its simple

first of all, to get acces to files on user's computer you need to have permision.
you CAN'T browse through user's files, just by clicking "view his files or something". User needs to share those files for example:"shared files"(rightclick->properties->sharing) or FTP.

and if someone be such a good person to share files with you he probably wont click option"allow users to delete files" ;) dont you think

I tried installing this, but I simply couldnt get it to work. Me and my friend tried to play Warcraft 3 but we werent able to see each others games, He could see mine but couldnt join. I searched the forums but it didnt help much. All antivirus/firewall was disabled.

I've given up now but if you have a solution Im all ears.

Well, my computer crashed when opening Hamachi. I'm not touching it again anytime soon, my computer relies on a steady internet connection (and I don't mean downloads :P )

Me and russ played a game of Homeworld yesterday. We just installed, patched and ran homeworld, had this on, opened up the Lan option, and whabang. It worked. No lag, either.

Starcraft - sometimes, though I keep losing.
Diablo - hadn't touched it in some time, might actually give the game a spin again.
Quake - I return to it every once in a while, got some nasty config and decent skills.

I'd love to play newer games - ie UT2K4 and a few others - but the machine I've got here is a puny Celeron 400 with 128 MB RAM and an 8 MB GPU. One could say that's pretty limited.

Danny252, get WinQuake. That's what I am using and runs very well both on 9x and XP.

Also I tried shutting down the firewall,but still nothing-anyone that could help me?

but when me and friends play it through the internet, it deos realy strange things like it works smooth like clocks for 5 sec, then it freezes for another 5.
i know that it can be FIXED with resetting some settings in config, but iam not expert in this if there was someone who s good in reconfiguring network settings then he s welcome to help us :cheers:

Civ 2 on the internet or Civ 2 over LAN? I think you need to register Civ 2 to get netplay working but LAN should workfine. I never play it anymore so I don't know for sure.

The version of Civ2 I have (Multiplayer Gold Edition) doesn't seem to have a registering thingie, coarse, it also has a cd crack..(I thought it was freeware, punched in "Civ 2" Download in Google, and shwing, there she was, now I has fun, even though It technically isn't legal)

I'm pretty sure I can play multiplayer whenever I want (discluding Hotseat, because thats not over the internet)
