Well, one of my favorit games is The Train, Escape to Normandy. In that game (you can read the review) you drive a steam locomotive (among other things) and there's this little thingy called STEAM BLOW OFF.

I guess evenbody needs to do that every now and again, so here's teh place to do it.

Some simple rules for this post:

1) Nothing said here is to be taken personally:
The person saying it just wnated to have it off the chest, not to insult anybody or anything (weather politically, religiously, military, personally...). So don't come here to tell people they shouldn't fee that way, come here to leave some of the bagadge in the found-to-be-lost department.

Coming from an ozzy citizen, yeah dass me, I would just like to say that i dont whine about the whales. I havent ever tried whale so i wouldnt know what it tastes like, but I reckon even if it was my favourite food I wouldnt eat it if it was from an endangered species. If it was a whale that was like breeding into millions or something, i wouldnt mind eating it. But if theres like 300 or 400 in the known world then its really serious. Well, seeing many ECO oriented topics here I have to say I'm really pi$$ed off at Slovenina government... They are very oriented in building roads, and already slovenains drive too many cars! Why? Public transport sucks and the government which still owns the passanger railroad lines is basically forcing people to use even more cars by closing down certain conections (there are parts of Slovenina that have arilroad tracks layed down for 150 years now, but in the last 15 years not a single train passed on them). And then we have to teach kids in school about using public transport, while the government (I won't go in depth) is basically doing a great job of destroying the public transport system).

its annoying when goverments decide building loads of new roads is the anser to public transport. and it seriosly does annoy people, just look at the anti road protests in england during the 80's and 90's. admitidaly a lot of these protests were an excuse for 24 hour partys , but hey.
we should all follow the dutch model of public transport.

Nah, the police is way to soft on everybody (and that's not something you'd often hear). The only people really protesting are the ones who wish to gain profit. If they know a road is going to go through a certain place they'll protest to get more money out of it for selling their land to the government at overblown prices, just to keep them quiet.

In fact there are protests that roads aren't built fast enough!!! People demonstrating and closing local roads, because they haven't got their own branch of the highway yet... silly.

you could start one seb, heres what you do .
1: wait for the goverment declare a road building project through forest
2: have a BIG party at a point where the road will eventually be built.
3:during the party recruit eco freaks
4: dig in. build treehouses and underground tunnels. (and sh*t pits..)
5: have the odd party while the dozers and security are incoming to drum up support
6: get alt euro media involved

the aim is actually to bankrupt the companys involved. the companys have to build the roads by a certain date overwise the goverment fines them.
also by getting people out partying in the forests you give people a greater sense of why they must be preserved.
although if slovenian forests have wolfs and bears and stuff.. well it could make things more interesting.

I knew there was a difference between Britain and Slovenia. Over here the government would probably pay conpensation for the work days the workers couldn't work. So the companies would make even more money!

For instance the highway conection between Lendava and Koper (the two cities on different sides of Slovenia) passing the capital should have been built back in 1999 - it's still not finished. Was anyone fined? No, they just said the plans were over-optimistic. Why haven't they finished in time? They bribed two companies off to drop charges, because a third company got a contract for building a set of tunnels and bridges and one section (worth some 60mio€) and they overpaid that company as well. Then they claimed they had to put the project on hold for 2 years, because they ran out of money.
It looks like the project will be finished in 3 years (and it will be exactly 10 years overdo). That actually set the presidence. Now they wish to build every kind of roads to connect every single nook and crany with every other nook and crany.
As for the parties to stop the building... More people (local drunks) would come to chase the protesters away then to protest against the roads. The police wouldn't interfear - they'd be disbursting the protesters for them...

I get sick from radioactivity from nuclear power plants,

Heh, I remember when a non-smoking law was passed over in Slovenia... After that pubs had to have two seperate spaces for smokers and non smokers. Many pubs didn't comply even to that, some made little back rooms and put a table in them... Only pastries are non-smoking zones now, oh and schools (mostly).

The US is extremely strict on smoking areas. Nearly every restraunt needs a smoking section and non-smoking, you aren't allowed to smoke in bathrooms, most public places, or etc. In fact, the only place you can smoke most of the time is outside on the sidewalk.

As we all know it was Easter weekend! Time to relax hang out with the good guys or your family chattin', havin' a drink or two and have really good meals. (That's what Easter is like in my area)

So, I had taken a day off work, holidays that is, last Thursday.
And WTF(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111111111) happenz?!?!?

I get a call on 8:49 Thursday morning and I was told that the mail-server was down!
So all-right, the other IT-man(we're only two) had holidays as well and I told the nosy co-worker were the key to the rack-closet is so that he could reboot that crappy machine and I hung up. My girlfriend who had holidays as well cuddled towards me actually still asleep.
When I was on the shore of dreamland again my phone rings again. "NTLDR error is displayed here..." I told him how to proceed mumbled some stuf that is not to be posted here and rolled over with nice thoughts of my girlfriend next to me and the time left we had to sleep. NOT ENOUGH!!!!!
I got five other calls :ranting: with really silly questions!!!!! :Titan: for the next two hours!!!!!1111111 :ranting: :Titan: :pissed: :rifle:
And this $417 wouldn't get off my head for the whole day.
My girlfriend and me tried to make the best of that day but it was ruined and I felt really sorry for her because I always work a lot and now work ruined my holiday.

Only reason smoking isn't outlawed like other drugs is because it has a strong economical hold on whichever country you're in.
Hundreds of thousands and millions of people smoke one or more pack a day each. And that means alot of money, it's nothing to do with health problems or etc. that's where the smoke bans come from, the only reason they aren't completely gone is because of their place in the economy.

Give us a few. I'm with troop on the harm thing. But you're arguments about the cars are also good. And that is why more and more people get catalysators. Not because they don't want to harm YOU, but because they want to be environment-friendly.
And smoking is different. Smoking with a filter in a cigarette reduces the harm minimally. For YOU. Once you're at it, reduce the harm for others and only smoke in special places.
Besides, scientists agree that smoking is highly dangerous and ->addictive<-. So until you cure your disease, we will not cease to protest against smokers polluting the fresh air.

Sure, I'll blow off some steam. I'm usually a pretty easy-going guy, but things do send me off the rails on occasion, as is the case with everyone else. Right now most of my anger is directed at something that has nothing to do with me. I should say someone, rather, as it's a person named Kevin Ray Underwood, from the small town of Purcell, Oklahoma, about 40 miles south of here. If you've never heard of him, that's no surprise. I hadn't heard of him either until a few days ago, and I only just learned his name today. It won't be too long before his name fades into obscurity again. If I had my way, he would be wiped from the collective memory of everyone everywhere, but only after he endured ten times the pain that he has inflicted upon those who will never forget that name.

Last Wednesday, according to Kevin Ray Underwood himself, the 26-year-old invited his ten-year-old neighbor, Jamie Rose Bolin, into his apartment, where they watched a cartoon. He then beat her over the head with a wooden cutting board, smothered her with his hand and a piece of duct tape, attempted to decapitate her, and sexually molested her body. Police found her body on Friday inside a large plastic tub in a closet of Underwood's apartment.

From the statement released by the Purcell Police Chief: "Regarding a potential motive, this appears to have been part of a plan to kidnap a person, rape them, torture them, kill them, cut off their head, drain the body of blood, rape the corpse, eat the corpse, then dispose of the organs and bones." The District Attorney has called this the most "atrocious and heinous and cruel" homicide he's ever seen.

Here's what I'd like to see happen in cases like this: The legal system gets its turn first, of course. (They should have no problem this time, as there has already been a confession.) Once the perpetrator of the crime is convicted, he is placed in restraints, put under armed guard, and locked in a room with whatever members of the victim's family care to show up. Anything that happens to him in that room is legal, and he is not to be let out until everyone else in the room agrees to it. Should he survive, then he goes to prison and whatever awaits him there. If not, oh well. That's less of my tax dollars going to keep a worthless waste of oxygen fed, clothed, and sheltered.

Should you be interested in more details of this specific case, Google will tell you all you need to know. The man has a blog and a MySpace account, but I'm not going to point you to them. Apparently he also spent a lot of his spare time playing Kingdom of Loathing. This is not in any way relevant; it was just odd to read in the news article.
