Just came upon this new addition to Google. Amusing, kind of actually useful, even.

It shows frequency of searches for the given query and can compare for two or more, but also see news articles the engine identifies as relevant. Neat.

Fun for a couple comparisons.

Not exactly.
Google Wars displays number of search results for the query.
Google Trends shows number of searches for the given query and how it rose and dropped over the time.
For example you can see that in recent month or so, the number of times people searched for Tomb Raider has skyrocketed up - oddly coincides with the release of TR Legend.

No you can see how HotU went up (in search) because people couldn't access it from the domain...

My question would be does it count only the search refference, or also the link refference? (if you access abandonia from some ring etc.)

I believe it only counts the actual number of times somebody used your specified keywords in a search query
