hi,
I tried running dosbox on windows xp and i'm still having problems with the graphics. It's fine in the beginning but the problem occurs when i start playing the game....can anyone help me? p.s. I LOVE star control 2 Arthur |
When you start playing the game, what happens there? Is the music / sound still there? Or it's more like the game hangs up?
Also try to experiment with the output-option in Dosbox.conf. It changes the graphics encoding and can be found at the very beginning of the file. |
add /g:bios to sc2

Why don't you use windows port? The remake I mean

No idea how old this thread is but nm ;-) Im having the same problem. Sound works nicely but the graphics gets all screwed up. It always bugs right away when I try to watch the intro movie. I usualy get good graphics when I skip the intro and go straight to the "name the star" thingy. It stays good untill I meet the ur-quan then its fubared again. Can almost seem like it goes down to 16 colors or something. Its close to impossible to read the dialague. And yes I have tried to start the game with the /g:bios command. And the reason I dont use the remake is that I didnt know it existed and I cant find it. any help will be mutch appriciated ;-) regards tpb yeah And Im running DOSBox on WinXP to. |
Try this version instead.
Ur-Quan Masters The intro and outro isn't included though. You have to wait for version 0.4 before that's implemented. It should be finished real soon. |
tbp-
Check out this thread in this same forum "Dosbox Graphics Issues, Palette switches in various games". I had similar issues in some other games, and BeefOnTheBone suggested minimizing and reexpanding the DOSBox window (I alt-tabbed out and back in) to regain the palette focus, and that worked great!! Hope this helps! Fizban aka Paladine |
Wow thanks for the mod link. I'm already into playing the original for a week or two but this looks worth the restart.
Hell! Voice is worth it alone. |
