Hey guys,
I have a tough one for you that I have had no luck in solving. I have been on Microsoft's forum, contacted my ISP provider and ran a check on my virus software. For the last week I have not been able to successfully complete a download. There are no error messages it just wont complete most of the time. If I abort download and try again it will download up to a different random percentage sometimes completing. All that changes is that the menu bar on top of the download box changes from the current percentage to "file download". This is occuring when only trying to download one file (of any type and of any size). There is nothing wrong with my ISP or virus software and I haven't installed anything important in the last few weeks. I have removed all of my temp files, cookies and cleared history. Here's the catch. If I disable my firewall for the duration of the download there is no problem. Not something I want to keep up though obviously. It appears that there is also no problem downloading torrents through a bit torrent program. I'm stumped, any thoughts other than smashing it with a sledge hammer :wallbash: Prouty |
If the problem is about your firewall as you've said, I guess you could re-install it. Or get another one, there are free ones out there. By the way, I guess you should have posted this in the "Technical Stuff" forum.

Make sure that your "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services" is not blocked by your firewall by default. When I block it, my internet connection sometime fail. More often than not when I get inactive just long enough and I ping out.

also try using another browser. once firefox finished me every download on 50% but IE worked fine.
