I just saw it in the Target store for $19.99. It's on sale here with 3 more strategy games.

Does that mean it's not abandonware?

So is this warez or abandon site?

Not to mention that this is not DOS game at all.

Maikel 28-11-2004 06:47 PM

If a game is for sale in a store it can still be abandonware. shopkeepers need to sell their stock to cover their costs.

Sebatianos 28-11-2004 06:50 PM

Technically MAkiel is correct - the shop buy the game from the manufacturer and sells it on to the public. So if the manufacturer doesn't supply the game anymore it's abandoned - even if it's still on the shelves.
But is there a way to check into this?

Rogue 28-11-2004 06:59 PM

The game is not some old forgotten item, that's back in the shelf. It's new product.

It's for sale with 3 more strategy game, and I can tell it sells well here.

It's not rare that some old hit games are being sold under 'budget' re-release. That's the way I got some game I missed to get at the time.

Sebatianos 28-11-2004 07:05 PM

Well, Civ 2 is not the only game we have, that's still being found on the shelves (Ignition is another).
I wouldn't say this is a warez site because of it, but I think that admins should take a closer look into this. We should be on the safe side!

Hmm...

That also counts for HOTU...

They got also games on site who still being sold but thet got green light from the designers of the game..

Then it's ok :ok:

So is it possible that one abandonware site might have a permision to distribute a game and another not?

Yes.

Take the Quest games for example.
