I just got Dos 6.22 installed on my system, I can finaly play all the dos games :D :titan: :titan: |
Great! We'd appreciate details on your hardware, because sure DOS can be satisfactorily run in pretty not-so-old machines (I did it on a Pentium III), but sure there must be a limit somewhere, concerning every piece of hardware (sound, video, processor), and I'm afraid nobody's certain of where those are. Of course first and foremost there's the question whether your sound card supports SB16 emulation (or whether you've got a real SB16 or older of course), because as far as I know there's no other way to get sound.
PS: Anyway DOSBox is more compatible than any real DOS machine, so if you've got a powerful modern machine, real DOS is just for geekism sake :D --still kewl of course. :max: |
MSDos 6.22 still runs fine on my AMD64 3500+ 1Gig.
Only problem: sound, an onboard soundchip, no SB emulation. :/ And the speed of some apps/games ....... That's where dosbox comes in .. :ok: PS: don't forget FreeDos 1.0, more adapted to modern PCs than MSDos. However not 100% gaming compatible. |

The Dos pc has a 1mb video card 40 mb ram and a 200mhz cpu, not to good for windows games but I defy any dos game to tax it xD
|
You'd probably have some problems running C&C and Conquest of the New World with it. ;)
|
C&C? Isn't that command and conquer? I thought there was only one c&c game for dos

Did you know that you can easily LAN XP-WfW PCs? (Windows for Workgroups- W3.1- W3.11) Great for some multiplayer games ...... You even could dual boot W95 with it, or W98. Tough the 1MB vidcard would be a culprit for some W95 games. |
