Dosbox issues with Stonekeep ]=

I found my wonderful Stonekeep CD the other day and figured I'd give it a run.

It's installed and working so far as everything loads and plays out all the cutscenes as it should, my problem lies however with the mouse, every time I try to move it around (which is essential for punching in the right direction and picking things up!) if the mouse changes it's icon it snaps to the right side of the screen, if I open up my inventory it snaps completely and I can't move it away from the right at all.

I've no idea what to do to fix it, I'm not computer illiterate but I'm certaintly no computer technician.
I'm using Dosbox version 0.72 if that makes any difference, on Windows XP.
Cycles are set to max and I used an autorun execution in the configuration to get it to mount without typing all that -t cdrom crap o_o

Any advice on this matter would be great and I'd really appreciate it if you guys can help get this game to work as it should =D
It's one of my old favourites, especially the singing pixies..if I'm remembering correctly xD
Thanks guys :amused:

Try these things...

- Don't touch the mouse when the intro is playing, and if you skip the intro, hit the spacebar instead of clicking on the mouse. When the main menu comes up, then click the mouse so it's locked into DOSBox.

- Hold down the mouse button during the intro, and don't let go until the main menu is up.

See if one of them works.

This usually helps:
Hit CTRL+F10 , will realease the mouse, and click then once again in dosbox.

When the error happens again, switch DOSBox to windowed mode and then switch to the status window. What are the last lines in the window?

This is a known issue with Stonekeep, caused by the game not recognizing some exotic mouse drivers (which DosBox is). Was the same problem with my German version of StoneKeep, luckily I got the game CD from some magazine which included a Microsoft mouse driver on it as a predictable fix.
Download this driver here and load it in DosBox (just add the EXE to the [autoexec] part of dosbox.conf.) before playing the game, this should fix the issue.

Thank you!

The mouse driver worked perfectly :) Hurrah!

Thanks for the info.
I'll have to keep that in mind for solving other compatibility issues.

You're lucky, I can't even start a game. :(
