not abandonware but plenty of free (legally) games
www.gametap.com
actually signed up for a paid version of this for my son but there are loads of games on there for free and they regularly add games to the free list for a week or so with stalker and battle stations midway/pacific being some of the recent ones http://gametapblog.com/free-game-of-...r-fun-edition/ forgot to add, they have loads of browser based games including some older stuff |
Yeah. GameTap is a sweet service. Used the crap out of it like last year (or if it was the year before - can't remember).

Can you subscribe to Gametap as a non-US resident now? Last time I checked, it was US citizens only.

....as a resident of Alabama :) It is possible ...
lol there is no real IP catching at least at the moment although the posibility of it has stopped my paying for more that 1 month at a time. credit cards seem to be pretty universal and it looks like there is no attempt to check the credit card address against the address provided. restricting certain products to US only sucks especially when I am willing to pay for the product If you don't feel that that is right or are worried about doing it you can still play the free games and as above they often make the premium games available for a limited period. |
i hate restricting products to us only. it's not like people couldn't use proxies anyways, it just takes more time to get it. what's the forking use of it

Steam used to have a proxy loophole where you not only could buy games at US prices, you could also get them tax free. Then they closed both at once AND activated the Euro price. Result: games nearly doubled in price. I've only bought one Steam since then - and it was a weekend offer which was gifted :p (UK price for Two Worlds - was £4. It was 15 euros for me - gifting lets you evade this).
