I encountered a problem in the good old game Settlers (aka Serf City), it won't save the game. It replies something like "WRITE ERROR OR DISK FULL". Any ideas?

Help please. Thanks.

What OS and are you using DOSBox or VDMSound?

Old error I had too when I first tryied to play Settlers 2 Gold.

Check the save folder and make sure they are not flagged as "write only" in the properties. If they are the game won't be able to overwrite the files, thus won't be able to save.

If I remember well, my archived file had all those files flagged as "archive", which achieve the same result.

Under WinXP, you should uncheck "read only" in properties. It should do the trick.

Happy playing. :ok:

Thanks everybody. I managed to solve the problem. It rather odd...

I'm using Win98SE and the game will save ONLY in MSDOS mode. It seems that the Windows system is somehow preventing saving the game.

Well, thanks anyway.

Greetings from Croatia.

Or try like I did. Play it strictly in MSDOS mode.

BTW, sorry for a late reply Anubis, my system crashed a few days ago. :ranting:

See ya...

If he uses XP, there is no MSDOS mode. :)
