New favourites, new discoveries.

Procrastinating now, by hanging out in the forums :). Tell us your new discoveries! Whether they be abandonware, freeware, paid-for...

My game of the week is Seek and Destroy - not abandonware, but alas.

I rediscovered Battlefield 2 today as I was reading the forums and came across a discussion of a mod for it. Once the patches finally downloaded (who knew you'd need to update a game after 2 years) I quickly got back into the swing of things.

Heh, I always wanted to play that - never had the hardware and now I do, I'm a Linux user of 4+ years :) Foiled! EA generally has good taste in publishing war sims - the PSP version of Medal of Honour is addictive.

As far as FPS go, it's a pretty good game. My system isn't beefy enough for Modern Warfare 2, so I can't compare it to the newer ones. I think it's one I'll keep playing as long as there are servers up for it.

Ever heard of Machinarium?

http://machinarium.net/demo/

An awesome adventure made by 7 czech guys. I really suggest to try the demo, you'll love it. :)

The demo was cool, but short. Too short to get me immersed in the game.

you don't expect them to put a whole game in the demo, do you

J Money 28-02-2010 04:19 PM

Heh, absolutely not. But when the demo takes less than one beer to get through, it's a bit short.

Well, I think the goal of a demo is to make you curious and to teach you mechanics. Even the demo of the Tales of Monkey Island wasn't so special, but the game is incredibly well done. :)

I can't remember the last demo I finished so quickly. Maybe I should reconsider it.
