Quest for Glory MAX playthrough

Hey folks,

Some of you will already know about these folks: The Adventure Gamer: http://advgamer.blogspot.com/ & The CRPG Addict: http://crpgaddict.blogspot.com/

In the next few weeks, these guys will be starting to play through the original Quest for Glory, and I've decided to play alongside them. However, instead of picking a single pure class, I'm taking advantage of the Quest for Glory series' flexibility by attempting to max out all the possible skills and statistics (100 for the first game, and increasing for each following game).

I'll be logging my progress over at an imgur gallery here: http://lookapanther.imgur.com/ **Obviously full of spoilers for those that haven't played this wonderful series!

I've already made a decent head-start, but the first game is the easiest to finish this way (I've done it before). The real challenge will come with the rest of the games, especially those that are a bit more time limited.

I'll post a few updates here (when the Adventure Gamer and CRPG Addict start their playthroughs), but here's the story so far:

The only way to select all skills right from the start is to select Thief, and even then I'll miss out on the Zap spell. Obviously I'm quite weak at the start, but it's fairly easy to gain a few of the skills so I'm working on those first, and letting the others follow in due course.

Looking forward for this!

Do you play the 5th part too? (not avaiable on abandonia)

I've got all of the QFG games (on CD and on GOG), so yes I will be playing it.

I don't really like QFG5 though, and haven't really played it beyond about an hour, but this time I will complete it!

Why you dont play the remakes ?

Panthro 16-11-2012 05:55 PM

I prefer the EGA games, rather than their remakes.

And the two blogs I'm following will be playing the EGA versions.

Perhaps I'll play (and take pictures) of the remakes too at a later date (probably when the blogs get to them).

But until then, here's a meep gif (imgur link= http://imgur.com/gallery/f2rE0 feel free to add a comment or an upvote):

Is there any differences appart the graphic between the remakes and the original versions?

One hing I know is, that at the beggining of the second game in the remake you can change your class, thus gaining something precious (a skill, or the paladin class?), so keep that in mind.

I think there are only minor differences (other than graphics) between the two version of QFG1, but there are quite a few changes between the two versions of QFG2.

The AGD Adventures QFG2VGA has a different fighting system, and a few extra screens and secrets. It also allows you to skip all the maze parts of Shapeir.

Also there are not death ends in the remake.

The adventure begins! (for the bloggers anyway, I'm on Day 5)

So today marks the start of the CRPG Addict and the Adventure Gamer introducing their next games, which they're tackling together since Quest for Glory is part adventure game, and part RPG.

Check them out here:
The Adventure Gamer
The CRPG Addict

And of course my gallery of screenshots (now updated to the start of Day 5) is here (spoilers ahoy!): lookapanther.imgur.com

And finally, yet another GIF for you (spoiler tagged, because it's plot important!)
