Hi!

So gameplay was fairly simple:
You have a square game area.
There are monsters/spiders/something moving on the game area.
You score by moving your player/whatnot from the sides of the game area into the game area creating squares and claiming that part of the game area.
You can also trap monsters inside the squares you create killing them.
Claim enough of the game area and advance.

This is driving me nuts...I'm guessing there even has to be a modern version of this for android or the likes, would be great on a touch screen.

This sounds like a Qix variant.
