Somewhat, although there's no sci-fi/fantasy element like in EcoQuest. Instead, in both games, you explore a randomly generated grid map in search of a specific animal. You have a guide person to help you, and you get points for photographing animals and for catching poachers/illegal net fishermen, finding leaking barrels of nuclear waste in the ocean, etc. There's additional hazards like forest fires, crocodile-infested jungle rivers, storms at sea, and shark feeding frenzies. After finding the animal or when time expires, you get bonus points by answering questions at a "press conference."

Are they similar to the EcoQuest series by Sierra?
