I'm looking for games similar in gameplay to heroes(preferably old)
So far i have tried:
King's bounty, Heroes, Hammer of the gods, Disciples, Age of Wonders, Lords of Magic, Master of Magic

Age of Wonders springs to mind - It's not old, but it is a pretty good game - the AI was just as disappointing as in Heroes, and it has better differentiation between the various races, and more interesting magic.

King's Bounty. It was made before Heroes of Might and Magic, and it's very simmilar to it. Some people call HoMM 0. Yo could also try Warlords. I've played it only for few minutes, but I think it's bit like Heroes

@bee Oh that too, a very good game. But i played it.
EDIT yeah sorry i wrote king's quest... i meant to write king's bounty .. i played warlords but i disliked it.

What in spesific you want to get? Simple gameplay, lots of variation, city building + resource gathering, similar theme or what?

Few suggestions:

Master of Magic
Civ + magic. Great game, but has lots of bugs.

Battle for Wesnoth
Free (I think) fantasy game. I haven't tried it, but I have understood it is similar to Master of Magic above.

Dominions II
Not old, although it looks like it was. Great game. It has lots of *things*: 17 nations from frost giants of Jotunheim to the religious fanatics of Marignon and from the infernal, Mezo-American, blood-sacrificing Mictlan to the winged magocracy of Caelum...; hundreds of spells, units and magic items; lots of great (user-made) maps... And it has great developers, too! The problem is, there is only two of them, they have "real" jobs and they are making Dominions III.

Publisher's page, with downloadable demo, is available here:
http://www.shrapnelgames.com/Illwinter/d2/1.htm .

I don't think the demo has been updated in ages, so you might not want to play Jotunheim's (frost giants) Utgard theme (less giants and goblins, more humans, human witches). That theme had a pretty ugly bug in one of the last versions the demo was updated to.

Battle of Wemosth is more simmiliar to Warlords than to Mom.I have played it.It is very good for a short time, but it couldnt amuse me for longer time.It was just too simple. I like a little more complicated games. But it is free,it is fun and it is amazing... :ok:

Maybe you should try Etherlords. For me it's like mix of Heroes and Magic the Gathering.

xcom freak 29-03-2005 04:31 PM

The warlords series, not on the site but i think the first 2 are abandonware ... i have the fourth its not

Isn't etherlords that game produced by nival, a sort of combo between disciples and magic the gathering? If so i played the last one, and got bored with it.Maybe it's predecessors are better, i'll check.
I played MoM, so i'll put it on the list

Smb asked, well i am looking for games in which you have to gather resources in order to build and upgrade your troops, but not like in Aoe, but like in Heroes, you understand right?

UnHoly 29-03-2005 05:56 PM

That game that you are looking for have to be turn-based or not??
And yes, Etherlords were made by Nival.
