Question:

Does anyone have or know something about GEM? I think it used to be a graphical interface in the 80s. I looked for it on eBay, but found nothing...
Might it even be Abandonware?

As far as I know GEM is the GUI for the Atari ST+ line of home computers. What do you want to know about it?

wether it is DOS-compatible. I think i saw it on a 286 once.

Depends on what you mean DOS compatible. If you mean running programs for one on the other, then no, only through emulation you can do that as far as I know. You could read disks (720k) from one machine to the other though, and copy files and such, but not much else.
You have to understand that GEM is not an operating system, it is the graphical way of communicating with the OS (TOS in this case).
So you might want to look at steem or pacifist or others for this kind of emulation. Though I doubt this is what you wanted.

Still, not the original one, but I guess it will do for what he/she is looking for. :ok:

yup. and no, i thought it was an interface similar to windows.
i have freegem already...

Well, if you want different interface for windows you might want to try www.stardock.com they have excellent programs. I currently use Windowblinds and Objectdock and I like them very much. If you also use DesktopX you can REALLY change the interface.

if your recommending those progs, go for style xp (i found windowblinds lagged my system but style xp didn't :))
