This is very odd, what program are you using to unzip it?

The Fifth Horseman 05-05-2005 09:48 AM

:eeeeeh:
Jeez... can't you guys figure out that all you have to do is try a different unpacker?

Stroggy 05-05-2005 09:53 AM

Temper temper, horseman.

Have you tried to reinstall your (de)compression software, myri ?
That should do it :ok:

What, 20th or 30th time this question is around? My temper went on vacation somwhere around 15th time.

It's not like these people using a search function would be a mental challenge for those who have this question either. They just don't bother.

Either way we have to be nice!
There's no sense in bashing them after they made the post

Anyway, just as I said, get a different unpacker program and try it. Doesn't work - uninstall, works - leave it.

Wait a moment...

I just recalled something...

I remember NOES was among a pack of games I uploaded a while back - now, I have packed these with a little less ordinary variant of ZIP method (different dictionary length and something, IIRC). This tended to cause problems in some unpackers (Windows XP Zip interface, for example).
Now, the entry says "uploaded and reviewed by Stroggy". I'll check before I'll accuse anyone of anything, but if my suspicions are be confirmed some people (no names) are going to have trouble. And it looks like it's gonna be more then just Stroggy.

I'd suggest that you try to take a small vacation from the Troubleshooting forum yourself too if you just can't manage to calm down in the long term. It's far from being bad enough to get yourself officially warned but it sure begin to be annoying. Not only you in fact, I'm saying this for all those who can't stand talking to people with a clear lack of computer knowledge (newbies).

Please remember that the majority of the newbies who ask for help around here probably don't even know what a compression method is. How could they even think about using a different unpacker? On the same way of thought, most of the newbies probably never even tought there could be a search option for a forum or what it could even be used for.

The best way to go around this is to go easy first and as the thread starter begin to shows his technical experience (or lack therefore of) then change to a more direct (or subtle) approach. Doing the opposite is likely to scare the thread starter off.
