While i love to play the old games, usually the GFX are AWFUL on PC
Is there any plugin or DOSBox update to implement stuff like in ScummVM or those Console Emulators like Super2xSai graphics smoothing? Amiga games on PC are fun, but with some of them i could despair for the GFX (apart from serious danger to your eyesight :max: ) Darklands, for one is so pixleized I can't bring myself to dive into this great, complex RPG. The Gfx just su... are bad. |
The graphics on those games are not BAD. It is you that are used to modern games' graphics. They do not su...
I am not aware of any special plug ins you can use to improve the quality of the graphics for your delicate eyes. Perhaps trying newer games? |
look in the configuration file of dosbox.
at scalers you will find several of those. |
Yep. You can also use Direct X as output mode, which smoothens the display a bit. Lose a little contrast, but lose the pixelization as well.

Also try to play on smaller monitor. That helps... ;)

If you use fullfix=true in DOSBox you can fix the resolution at 640x480 or 800x600 to reduce the stretching, although it'll just occupy the middle of your monitor (you get used to it).

Those old days when Wolfenstein 3D's engine was state-of-the-art top-of-the-line... To say so, part of the charm of old games is in graphics inferior to modern standards, yet superb gameplay.

Yea LOL I remeber back in the day, I though Wolf3d was so cool and realistic. Nowadays I see all these strange things on the sprites (Over pixilized, this purple gunk near some shaded areas, easy to fix if you can get a sprite editor) and noticed that the floors/ceiling don't have any textures, they are just one color!

(Or, the Pc versions of Amiga games were worse) And THX for the other tipps, folks..it helped a bit :ok: |
It is well known that Amiga had much nicer graphics and sounds then PC at the time. Kind of custom chip thingy, like consoles today....
