ok. i am in the process of quitting the deomen ciggeretes. i am craving nicotine so badly i could gladly rip the head of an adorable cute little puppy. nicotine gum gives me a bad stomach and i must be alergic to the patches, it feels like some1 is punching me on the arm when i wear them, and i go really pale and feel dizzy.
so has anyone got a smoke i can scrounge (jk) what i really want to know is has anyone here sucsessfully quit ciggeretes (long term smokers pls, not some1 who has smoked for 6 months then quit) i have been smoking over 10 years now. if you have quit ciggeretes tell us how on earth you did it. |
me!
the nicotine withdrawal only lasts a week or so.. you can tough it out without gum or patches! i did! then when you're "over the hump" its just a case of quitting the habit. this takes a few months until you find you wouldnt ever put one in your mouth again. the most important thing is to be 100% about it. no cigarettes. at all. not one puff! |
I've quit smoking once. Of course I started again, but I did manage to stay off the cigarettes for a while. I'd say that the best solution is to just stop, without the nicotine gum and patches. This is pretty hard for the first week or so, but after that it gets easier and easier. This will only work if you really, really want to quit, otherwise you'll never get through that first week.
That's my advice anyway, others may have better suggestions. Good luck. *lights up a cigarette and takes a deep drag* :D |
I quit smoking when I was 16 after almost 3 years of daily smoking, not sure if that counts as long term for you or not. I just decided to stop so I did. It was a little difficult at first, but I'm already so naturally violent and irritable no one really noticed the difference. I mostly quit just to prove to myself that I could. Lived happily smoke free for about 4 years, and recently started up again, although at a greatly reduced rate (no more then 5 cigarettes a week) I'll probably quit again when I get home.

I also recommend not going to clubs/gigs so that you don't passively inhale smoke. That can't help at all.
Not that I've ever smoked, it just sounds likely. |
I'm smoking for about 5 years now.
My girlfriend wants me to quit, becouse it bothers her a lot  I had two uttery bad attemts to quit, no success... I only stayed clean 2 days and then came the craving... I was extremly jumpy and angry for no apparent reason, I was a FREAK! I made her cry a couple of times, and I was very ashamed of myself  Then I started smoking again in secret, and things calmed down... Now she is starting to find it out, so I have to quit if I don't want to loose her for sure... HELP!!!! |
Just quit and tell someone to beat the crap out of you if you even go near to cigarettes. That should help.
BTW, it ruines your health, WTF did you start anyway??? :eeeeeh: |
"just quit..." Now you say!
If it was THAT easy, don't you think I should have quited already? IT IS FREAKIN HARD!!!! Starting it was too easy... you know, friends, teenage adventures and all... Too bad I ever got near it, now I think otherwise, but its too late now I gues... |
Been smoking since grade 6. What works best is the following: Being broke and loathing buming smokes from people.

Well, If I told you to rip all of your loot in two that you wouldnt be able to get anymore cigarettes, you'd say "NO WAY!". But, then again, you'd resort to stealing - leaving you in jail. Strengthen your will, man. It may be hard (I dont know), but keeping a girlfriend is far more improtant than nicotine. |
