Will games like Monkey island be free to download ??

And Police Quest ?

I about 40 or 50 years time when their copyright expires. Seriously, it's in the companys' interests to protect the copyright of everything they've created so the ESA (that protects the games) will not give them up easily. We used to have permission to host some of their games but somebody accidentally put up a game that was ESA protected and we didn't have permission to host (don't know which one) and the ESA withdrew all permission. You never know, we may get it back though, but don't hold your breath.

I still don't understand this.

Companies spend a lot of time and effort making games, then they refuse to sell them.

All that work has gone to waste if people can't buy them.

Why make games if you don't want people to play them.

Yes, it seems silly, oh well though, if yu really wanted to play them, you could try looking on E-bay, Monkey Island at least would probabally be there. And its ebay so you know it would be cheap, heck even at amazon theyr cheap, at amazon.uk you get Alone in the dark 3 I think for likr 2 or 3 dollars, not including shipping :tai:

Some games are still hard to get, even on eBay. I had such a hard time getting System Shock. Part 2 came up frequently, but part 1 was really hard to get.

And what about everyone who doesn't have internet connection? They can't get access to eBay.

They also can't have access to this forum, of course. :P

moogle 01-07-2005 06:35 PM

Yup. Well then again...they could be on a library computer or something, but then that would be kinda pointless too because they can't dl any abandonware....

And yes some games are veryyy hard to find on E-bay, but for now until its releeased as abandonware, its probabally your best bet, aside from Walgreens bargain bins....

There is no Walgreens or Walmart in the UK. :hairpull:

At least, nowhere that I know of.

moogle 02-07-2005 12:58 AM

Oh...your in UK...I see....ummm....
Amazon.uk Monkey Isle
Amazon.uk Police Quest
Hah. :)

Frodo 02-07-2005 03:05 AM

Okay. I can buy some Police Quest SWAT games through the internet - what about the original Police Quest adventure games.

HA :)

Anyway, I don't want a big arguament with you. I just think it's strange that companies put a lot of work into making games, then don't let people buy that game. All that work has gone to waste!
