When i try to copy a DVD video, i get a message which says the DVD is protected. Is there any way around this? Also, most blank DVD's store 120 mins of video, but most DVD's are much longer than this. Is there a way to get more than 120 mins on to a 120min DVD?

I don't know about the second part (I do not have a DVD recorder), but there are plenty of ways to pass the copy protection. I doubt the good folks of Abandonia would like me to give any info on that, so good luck hunting that info elsewhere.

However, the thing is that those pre-recorded DVD's are often recorded as DL (Double Layer). DVD burners capable of DL recording only recently began appearing on the market, at least to my knowledge. |

I think the best way around this would be to make an image of the cd and copy it. Or to just copy to harddrive and burn from there. Never tried it though, just a thought. |

[/b][/quote] If it is protected it is not going to work. He will have to decrypt it first. Funny story, I was trying since oh 1998 or something to find an easy way to do this (a very very easy way) and when I finaly found one 2 years ago, I used it once and never again LOL. As for reasons that one might want to, to see how it is done or just for the experience (like in my case), or because you are not allowed to (always a thing), or because he wants to share the movie (most cases illegal). |
And what about safety issues? What if he doesn't want to risk the real DVD exploding in a faulty DVD-player when it reaches higher rpm-s ;). Actually you can copy videos that originally larger than 120 mins, by shrinking them to fit the 4,7 Gb DVD+/-R using commercially available softwares (I don't think I should advertise any of them). There are a couple of variations, but you must note that this way you sacrifice quality for space.

To copy laser centered media, use Alcohol 120. This is all I will say.

Not hard to use the capture image then cut a face out. I play FF8 on my computer, no problem :ok:
No spamming. It is not appreciated. You might even end up with a warning... like me :not_ok: |
For copying protected DVD's use DVDdecrypter, always works fine for me..
