hey guys, I have a friend who wants to send me a file, it's about 600Mb in size. Now stuff like YouSendIt takes too long, and all the free file hosting sites ive seen don't go that big. Any suggestions?
|
Whoa.
I'm not sure there are any free services. I suggest you just take the wait and get it through that sendy thing. I find it difficult to send even a 50 meg file. |
Gmail?
|
You need a password number thingy from someone else, or pay.
At least that's as I remember. |
Well I have plenty of invites left so if you want to open an account(at least for this purpose) I can send you one...
|
Even gmail does not go larger then 10MB per email.
But to solve this problem, I sugest you to create multipart RAR archive. That way you can create 60 10MB files. ;) |
That's a good suggestion, but there'll be ALOT of clicking involved.
|
is there a way she can send it to me VIA FTP, or connect to me via IP address or anything? besides, can't you not make a nultipart .RAR if the file's only 1 file? It's an ISO, so it'd be hard to break that up...
|
It will not be hard at all to break up, just choose the "store" way to split it.
It is easy to have one of you create an ftp server and the other download it with an ftp client. Just do a search for free ftp server tool or something and you should find one. |
I'd suggest the best and probably the cheapest way of doing this is by burning the file to CD and sending it via post.
