I don't have it yet. Will give my impressions when I have played it.

Weirdly, I just downloaded it, but also haven't played it yet.

EDIT: Ooooh, it's rather tasty. It's a nice feel, somewhere between the relentless upgrading and race to stay ahead of the earlier Age games and the scale and speed of Rise of Nations. the second level looks a bit like a standard "survive for x minutes" mission but looks to have some interesting ideas with the resources. It's also gorgeous!

Definitely worth trying the demo to see if you like it, even if you liked the earlier Age games since it's a bit different. If you like Rise of Nations (which personally I found to be a little overambitious) you'll love this. It's certainly made up my mind about buying the game and settled my concerns about the amount they've been hyping it (well, unless I read some poor reviews anyway).

Running Age3 gives me a BSoD. Videocard issue, I have been having problems with this one ever since I got it.

It was pretty nice.
I wasn't expecting it to be sooo... well... like the previous one.
Hope they patch up some of the bugs I found.

FINALLY! have been waiting so long! :Brain: *downloading

I've been playing this a few days now and must say I'm not too pleased. Sure the graphics are pretty (though not as pretty as the screenshots we were shown) but the upgrading seems to be even more inflated than in the previous two games. It tries to combine Rise of Nation's myriad of update-options with the original Age of Empires formula and ends off being quite boring.
Then again, maybe I should turn the speed up.

How is the resources collection handled?

Blood-Pigggy 12-09-2005 09:06 PM

There are no resource return points, it's immediatly added to your resource count.
It's like something that slowly adds to your resources.
The more villagers that are mining, the more gold you will receive in a faster period of time.

I like the way there are more ways to get resources though - shipments from home, factories (though that's better used for artillery normally), fixed buildings, trade routes etc etc

I'm a great fan of AoE2 however my stupid graphics card doesn't even support Hardware T&L, oh why do they have to make graphics so flashy?
