First of all, this isnt "Which one is better" topic.

Mention the good and bad things of these two sides.

My point of view:
Abandonia:
+Nice reviews and lots of pictures
+Great forum
+No pop'ups
-small compared to HOTU
-Under surveillence of ESA

HOTU:
+VERY huge site: Tons of games!
+Random Selection
-Slow
-Small reviews: Some information, box cover and one picture.

Got it?

Abandonia
"alive"-lots of things going in here
everyday update
smaller site
good reviews
you can actively help this site

Hotu
Huge amounts of games
somewhat dead, devoid of signs of human presence
often small reviwes,sometimes incorrect
"one download at a time"-often buggy
very slow updating
and for me-isnt working

1) I don't think being under ESA survailence is a minus. Sure, sites that give games that are under ESA protection can offer some very popular titles, but we've been able to bring many great games that might have been forgoten - because we had to dig deeper.

2) The thing I really hate about HOTU is, that some of their game archive just simply don't work! Some games won't run, no matter what I do.

3) A HUGE plus of Abandonia - people help you out. In the game discusions you can ask just about anything and people will look for the answer and help you.

4) Second really HUGE advantage Abandonia has - it's translated into several languages. If you wanna learn more about a game - you can do it in a variety of languages!

You've got a point. HOTU was good until the update was very slow. Same goes for the download speeds.

actualy so is HOTU, if you look around you'll notice they don't have a lot of games on the basis that they are ESA protected or under requests by a developer.
I believe that extra game they have to offer is the result of showing good behavior and playing by the rules.

I've always found HOTU great since they've got tons of games I've never found anywhere else and I've always wanted. However, they have become extremely slow on both navigation and downloads, and since I can't get resuming to work, it's become very frustrating.

Abandonia is an active and promising website which you can clearly see it grow before you, so I have great hopes for it :ok:

Abandonia:
+GREAT community
+updates
+no pop ups
+good reviews
+good loading/dl speed
-small selection

HOTU:
+HUGE selection
+,- OK reviews
+some counsel games (Gunstar Heroes)
-SLOW

you "can" resume downloads.... like in here, just use a download manager "approved" by them (for mozilla/firefox - that's what i use - get "Getright" or "Flashgot") check here

HOTU is so sluggish. The layout is a chaos and with all the ads and popups it's really a nightmare to visit. Their huge collection is the only reason I sometime pay a visit there, but most qaulity games can be found on Abandonia anyway :ok:
